Winter is here and so are the memes - the final season of Game of Thrones premiered on Sunday and it was everything fans could have hoped for and more. As soon as the familiar scratch of the HBO intro segued into the opening score thrones lovers erupted around the world, with their eyes and phones open ready to post and share. And boy was there a lot to share. Bored Panda has rounded up an army of the best Game of Thrones memes from the season 8 premiere - and it's easy to say fans were wild-ling out.

From the Lannister's being de-throned as the messiest family in the 7 kingdoms (ok Jon Snow didn't know it was his aunt), to Bran sitting around sipping tea at all the drama waiting for his nemesis to arrive, to Cersei plotting on Euron Greyjoy (or is it the other way around?) and Sam finding out his best friends girl/aunt killed his family. So as we wait for the next episode, writing up conspiracy theories, enjoy these memes and don't forget to upvote your favs!

The cast of Game of Thrones probably had to sign a blood oath with HBO to keep from spilling any secrets about the final season, but there are some things we can expect. Known for feature-length film style fight sequences the final fight scene with the Army of the Dead is set to be the largest sustained action sequences in any TV series or film. Directed by Miguel Sapochnik, the scene took 55 nights of filming in the wintry outdoors. Producer David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly, “Having the largest battle doesn’t sound very exciting — it actually sounds pretty boring. Part of our challenge, and really Miguel’s challenge, is how to keep that compelling… we’ve been building toward this since the very beginning, it’s the living against the dead and you can’t do that in a 12-minute sequence.”

Cersei may not have gotten her elephants but some serious dough was put into this final season. To be precise £11.2 million was spent per episode compared to the series average of £5 million per episode. With their massive budget GOT dethroned The Crown as the most expensive season budget in history at $100m for two seasons or about $5m or £3.7m per episode.

Fans may have felt short changed to discover that there were fewer episodes this season but never fear we are still getting just as much juicy plot. The episodes are set to be almost two hours each in grand feature-length style. Unfortunately, not matter what this means the episodes are still going to be over before we know it *cue the tears*.

With thrones you never know who is going to die next because, let's face it, nobody is safe. While we can all put in our bets for whose going to be offed next, whose death will be the most dramatic (the most pricey)? The most expensive death on GOT thus far was the death of Meryn Trant, killed by the fearless Arya Stark. Taking place in the final episode of season 5, Mother’s Mercy, Arya stabs out Trant’s eyes. Because as the shown-runner David Benioff“ explained, "She couldn’t really poke out his eyes,” it required some expensive CG and make-up.

So how will it all end? "loose-lipped" Kit Harrington hinted during promo for his new film, that fans may not be satisfied with the ending. Comparing it to some other plot-twist style endings of famous shows he said to MTV News, "My favorite TV shows are Sopranos, Breaking Bad and The Wire, and they all ended in a way that didn’t satisfy you."Harrington said, "I think a TV series that’s spanned eight, nine years is an incredibly difficult thing to end... I think not everyone’s going to be happy, you know, and you can’t please everyone."
