Sea Lion Drags Little Girl Underwater, And The Whole Terrifying Scene Is Captured On Cam
For this family of tourists at the Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf in Canada, it was supposed to be just another pleasant afternoon feeding sea lions and enjoying the animals’ company. However, a terrifying video shows a sea lion grabbing the little girl and dragging her into water – all this horror happening in just a blink of an eye!
The video was taken by Michael Fujiwara from Vancouver. He said: “I was just sitting by the dock and then this sea lion popped its head out of the water just in front of me. I just took out my cell phone and started filming.”
“The sea lion actually attracted a lot of attention from the visitors there, including the young girl… She and her family, I guess, they came, they started feeding the animal bread crumbs or whatever it was, and then I guess the animal got a little too comfortable.”
The girl was saved by a brave man who is thought to be her relative. Clearly, both the girl and the saviour felt traumatized by the experience.
It’s not clear if the sea lion intended any harm – usually they’re known for being highly intelligent creatures who are gentle and timid by nature. Nevertheless, the video serves as an alarming reminder to be more careful around wild creatures.

This was the latest moment the careless parents should have told their daughter to not get too close. Besides, feeding bread to a sea lion is a very odd idea. The reaction by the guy jumping after the little girl is very brave, though.
The 'Total Badass' is her grandfather too. I saw him in a conversation on another site.

I worked at a penguin colony as a tour guide, I've seen southern version of these tear the head off a penguin just to eat the brains. Their teeth are very sharp & their jaws strong. He could have easily held her underwater even if it hadn't wanted to hurt her. Things like this is why we had a strict no feeding the wildlife rule.
Load More Replies...Sorry to be the person saying it's partially everyone's fault who kept on feeding it. There are reasons why you should not feed wildlife and interact with it as little as possible. I'm sorry for the family, especially for the little girl though. It's gotta be a horrifying experience.
"supposed to be a pleasant afternoon of feeding sea lions" ... Probably forgot these are wild animals, which you shouldn't feed or try to pet or whatever? Also, after that first jump to the girl, they should have pulled her away, but no, they let her sit down at the edge, with her back to the sea lion... Imo it's just their own fault.
Golly wild animals are so darn "wild" , who could have predicted it?
Really! Who would imagine that a predator would try to get some food?

it has been shown we can not understand the word don't, google it
Load More Replies...Ehmm, the sea lions are wild animals. To feed them (bread??) and get so close to him is a pretty bad idea. The family should leave the place after the sea lion jumped up for the first time and not lo sit on the edge. I hope that girl was not harmed.
I do feel sorry for the girl - she could not have known. But as harsh as I may sound - serves well the parents. If they left their brains away and let their infant get close to a water predator, then one cannot blame the animal. It is wide known NOT TO FEED wild animals - be it a zoo lion or a raccoon at your backyard. You never know how a wild animal will behave! Even a squirrel with rabies can scratch your eye out!
Sealions are predators at the end of the day. Being that close to one is risky business. as other commenters have said they can kill without reservation. A small animal like dog/penguin or even small child is fair game to a wild predator that size. Thank god she wasn't harmed.
Maybe the sea lion thought the little girl was a swan, a gull or any other white bird... I think it was not his intention to harm the girl...
After all the drama, the cameraman is still sipping Away his Starbucks Frappuccino. The guy who jumped in the water gets an award
All this s**t wouldn't happen if humans didn't make it a tourist attraction to feed the marine animals (sea lions, sharks, ...). Now these animals are expecting food from the humans and when they don't get what they want, they tend to turn agressive because they don't understand why the f*****g tourist is not giving them food.
No - I chuckled at first, then watched the entire video - pretty scary - so I didn't chuckle as much

They gonna shoot him too? Like they shoot herumbe. It's probably was a miss understanding to the animal.
Jeez!!! I watched it a few times and just WOW!!! I wonder why it wanted her? The color or the smell. Just think.
Sealion :"oh dear, i saw a big penguin in front of me.." Salute for the grandpa,& by the way, the parents didn't say anything to the hero?
They eat FISH and he was trying to feed them breadcrumbs. I think the sea lion pulled her in just for laughs/revenge.
the sea lion or dog mermaid whatever u want to call it could have been just horsing around. Like when we push our friend in the pool.
If you would have watched the whole video, you would see that a man jumped in after her and pulled here away from the sea lion and to safety. She lived. Pay attention next time.
