Girl Dresses Up In Green For School Picture Day And The Results Make Mom Laugh Hysterically

Preparing for a school photo day can be quite stressful for parents. So, Laura Pyle, a mother of two from Pennsylvania, decided to make things a little bit easier and also teach her children to be more independent. So her son and daughter were tasked to chose their own outfits. Her 1st grader daughter Addison picked her favorite green dress without hesitation. ” I just thought I was allowing my daughter to wear her favorite dress for school pictures,” she told Bored Panda. However, Laura completely forgot one important thing – photographers use green screen during the photo shoot. “I honestly never gave it a second thought.  When I was in school the photographer brought each backdrop with them. Had I been thinking, I probably should have realized there’s no way a photographer could carry this many backdrops.  But mom brain kicked in.” She only realized this mistake after she received the previews of the photos. But instead of being upset about ‘ruined’ photos, Laura burst into laughter and screenshotted all proofs she received. “I immediately dropped my phone, laughing hysterically. The photos are absolutely hilarious.  Because the dress was sleeveless, I think the proofs turned out perfectly. She isn’t just a floating head, but her dress blends so well”.  The photos are surely amusing so scroll below to see them!

I work at a yearbook software company. I just had to review a portrait package for a customer that had a couple of 'floating heads' on it which were way funnier than this photo. Honestly, this is a quality control issue. They are running the unprocessed images through greenscreen knockout and not checking the results. You can mask out areas to exclude them from the knockout. You need to be careful for green-bleed too: blondes and red-heads can get get green reflective casting on their hair (flyaway bits) in particular, so they either should get a virtual "trim" or a fine-tune. A decent photo studio will review before sending out proofs.

@Lynne: I worked for Lifetouch School Photos years ago, before digital photography. The technique then was to use a backdrop. Reading this story brought back some memories. I think the green screen effect is quite interesting. These photos look very nice. I imagine most parents would be requesting retakes, however. The school should send out a notice, warning about wearing green.

An outfit for each occasion. Perfect. Also, the boy is taking patriotism to a whole new level.

*dramatic movie theatre trailer voice* You can't figure out where all of his torso is... But you know he stands for liberty. "The Patriot", not coming soon because it's not a real movie.

It wouldn't surprise me if wearing green for school photos with a green screen became a trend

Without seeing the explanation I'd have thought this was an intentional (and very well done) Photoshop job , on the little girls it works different dress for every photo. I think this is what Bob Ross would call a happy accident.

This worked out rather well, her outfit matches every occasion. Great relief from worrying about what to wear, stains etc.

That's actually really cool imo. Due to her hair covering her shoulders and bare arms covering her sides she doesn't look like a floating head but instead like she has a cool outfit for every picture:D The glitter probably helps too, super cool. I'd definitely prefer that to standard pics XD

Why would someone upload photos of their children to the internet? I see it so much and you are not even respecting their privacy..

Seriously. These kids won't be able to get a job without their whole history unfolding in the Google search. Most people don't even think twice about it.

My son and I went to the Hard Rock traveling rock and roll memorabilia show when it came to town. You could get yourself photoed into a stage set as a souvenir. Yep... I had on that shade of green. Told my son to go solo. The photographer urged me to go with it, it would be hilarious. She was right. They even erased my buttons. We have a copy in our album. Justin as lead guitar, and Jim as head singer.

When I was a kid, they didn't use green screens. They used the same backdrop for all the kids.

The photographer should have turned off the chroma key feature for this child then edited the background in after the fact. It's not that hard to do. Though I do think these photos turned out pretty great as is.
