Mom Gets Mad After Finding Son’s School Photos, But Internet Finds Them Hilarious

No matter how much parents prep their kids before they get their school picture taken, the end result really depends on the child. They can untuck their shirts, mess up their hair, or, in Andrew’s case, start roaring. His loving mom, Stronajai Miles, remembers school pictures being a serious affair, so when she stumbled across her son’s photos, she expected something a little more traditional.

“Andrew is a silly kid with a big personality!” Stronajai told Bored Panda. “He loves to make people laugh and smile and he LOVES the camera! He enjoys making videos on the tablet and he is always camera-ready when it’s time for a picture! He has taken photos in pre-kindergarten and he has taken fall photos which were actually done by Lifetouch School Photography as well and they came out ‘perfect,’ they had him posing traditionally and smiling normally.” This time, however, was different. “I was doing my normal routine, checking his bag and getting his clothes together for the upcoming week,” Stronajai told Bored Panda. “I checked his book bag to make sure I didn’t need to sign anything…” And that’s when she found the pics. “I was totally shocked! Yes, he’s taken pictures like that before – but NEVER for a school picture.”

Stronajai posted her initial annoyance along with the photos on Facebook. The mom even contacted Lifetouch School Photography to figure out what happened and why. But as she was investigating the situation, the pictures started going viral.

People were thanking Andrew for making their day and all of the positive responses started changing Stronajai mind. “They opened my eyes to see that everything doesn’t need to be cookie cutter. Being yourself is even more amazing!” she said. “Knowing that his silly picture brought joy all over the world, how can I continue to be flustered?”

As for Andrew, he loves his school pictures and thanks everyone for sending their best wishes.

People had a lot of heartwarming things to say about Andrew’s photos

This kid is going places. His smile is very contagious. As a teacher, I can tell you that students are very nervous on picture day. I would love to see a kid goof off a bit and have fun with it. He seems to have a fun personality. He will look at those pictures 20 years from now and smile about it.

This is what a reasonable person does when they are confronted with a better alternative: they accept it, embrace it, and move on.

I can totally understand her first reaction but I am so happy she came around to seeing that it was not such a big deal. That pictures catches his wonderful personality and she will love having it 20 years from now.

LOL!! I have to say that personally, for me it would be funny once, but I'd also have them redone and tell him not to do it again...... though I'd totally make a copy of it :P I've also been the butt end of a bad school photo! The guy said something to me that I couldn't hear. I said "wait, what?" and he got me mid "wha -?" I really feel that it captured my true personality LOL

I would sooo buy them just as they are. Then put them up for his upcoming dates and at his college graduation... engagement party, wedding. Give copies to his kids as an example. Money well spent.

Silly school photos are the best photos. This year my son put his shirt inside out for his school picture (he's 6, it wasn't intentional) and no one noticed as it's a very patterned shirt. We only saw it after but it only makes them funnier. :P

He is so darn cute!! My little brother had a favorite shirt he always wanted to wear for picture day. He wore it again & my Mom said no go change. So he put a sweater over it & left for school. When my Mom got back the pictures & saw the shirt she cried because just weeks before this my brother passed away. When she wrote to Lifetouch asking to purchase more copies they sent her the biggest package they have free of charge. TO this day it's her favorite picture of him.

I wish I had half as much an interesting personality as this kid when I was in kindergarten. I mean, I bit my teacher on day one, but I mean "Wow what an interesting person" not "person of interest was spotted in local area at 1300 hours."

I work for a photography company and I photograph kids at schools all the time. We do have a set of poses/recommendations and they do train us, but every once in a while a kid wants to do his/her own thing. We do not discourage it, but always say that if they do one "regular" pose and one silly pose, the print shop will always pick the "regular" one. So to look silly in their photos they have to commit to it! This boy committed - and good for him!

I love these pictures. However, I am sure her initial reaction was to be upset. Since then she seems to have taken a laughing side of it. These are memorable pictures that will never be forgotten. I would send them out as it because it seems to show the funny side of Drew. Keep life simple Drew and enjoy the small stuff.

I was obsessed with Sleeping Beauty as a 3 year old in 1988. In my preschool photos, my eyes are purposefully closed to be more like "Flippin Bleauty". Still makes perfect sense.

I've always been a fan of 'candid' shots. If any of my kids had ever done something like this, I'd have bought them in a heartbeat! After the initial shock, of course. One of mine surprisingly never did this, but if any of them did, I would've expected it of him. Photos like this are awesome!

Yea, it sounds like her kid is not cooperative. That's fine, but don't get mad at the school photographer because your child would not smile for a photo.;

The purple t-shirt one was the first funny one...I said it looks like he's about to cry, but he told me the lights were too bright. I was upset at first, too, but I got over it, and realized how funny it is...I'll have this on my shelf forever. This one is from the following year...after the first funny one, I asked him to promise to do it every year...he agreed. That's my boy. <3 ch9-5c9222...308149.jpg ch9-5c92222308149.jpg

Typical parent nowadays automatically placing blame anywhere but on the precious child. If your kid won't pose nicely for a school pic, maybe take issue with your kid, not the photographer. This kid was old enough to know what he was doing.
