Woman Shared ‘Scary’ Experience With A Taxi Driver To Try To Prevent It From Happening To Others
We live in a society where we get services provided by completely strange people. If you need a haircut, you go to a hairdresser and it might be that you’re seeing them for the first time and trusting them to do a good job. If you have a leaking sink, you let a complete stranger to your house to fix it. There are many situations like this and most of the time they end well and people don’t give them too much thought.
But that is not what happened to this young woman who had a terrible experience with a taxi driver. She just wanted to get the service of a driver with a car to transport her to her home; however, she got unwanted attention to the point she was concerned about her safety. The woman shared her story on TikTok and the taxi company agreed that the situation should have never happened.

A woman on TikTok told about her terrible experience with a taxi driver that left her scared for her safety

At the end of September, TikToker babyblossomxox, also known as Daisy, took a Bolt to go home and as soon as she did, she went on TikTok to tell what she had just experienced. It seemed that Daisy was really scared and her voice was shaking while she was trying to speak through her tears.
What happened was that her Bolt driver was making small talk with her, which didn’t surprise Daisy at all. But eventually he started asking questions to find out where she lived. He then said he has a house he could rent out and that they could go there right away, but when she refused, the driver started insisting that she give him her phone number.
At first, Daisy thought the driver was just being friendly and holding a conversation, but quickly realized something was wrong

Daisy was panicking, but pulled a smart move and to calm the Bolt driver down, took his number instead of giving him hers. This lead to another sticky situation when the driver wanted Daisy to call him right away, but luckily, when the woman promised him she’d do that later, he still let her out of the car.
The TikToker didn’t go home right away and went up to a random woman to pretend they knew each other, so the Bolt driver just went away. He didn’t leave for a while, which was alarming, but eventually he drove off.

The taxi driver asked whether she was going home or the spot where he picked her up was where she lived

Daisy explained the intentions she had for sharing her experience in a follow-up video. She said she wanted to prevent this from happening to any other person, as she realized that the driver would most probably continue to harass other people.
So what she can do is spread awareness and to warn people that these kinds of things happen even when you’re riding with a popular taxi company. People can judge her reaction and think of what would be the best actions they could take if they were in Daisy’s shoes.
He also said that he would like to show her a house he can rent out and was insisting on getting her number

A lot of people in the comments were criticizing Daisy for being so dramatic and they were not seeing what was the problem. Maybe it is hard to empathize when you haven’t experienced it for yourself, but the TikToker explains in a follow-up video that when you’re in a taxi, the driver is in control of the car and it can be scary. In her case, he was twice Daisy’s age, was saying multiple times how beautiful she was and randomly asking her to come to an empty house with him alone.
Even after she left the car, the man was still watching her for a while, making her feel uneasy

Daisy described her experience to Bolt customer service and got a response from Bolt Security Team saying that they are investigating the driver and that his behavior is not supported by the company.
The person who replied to Daisy also suggested she should report this matter to the police and that Bolt would cooperate with it. Daisy also mentioned that they spoke on the phone and the company strongly recommended to go to the police, so these kinds of incidents won’t repeat themselves.
Daisy contacted Bolt and in a reply, the company said they are investigating the matter and suggested the woman report the event to the police

Another comment that Daisy got a lot and addressed was that many people thought that it was just a normal conversation between a taxi driver and a client, just a chat to kill the silence. The TikToker disagreed and said she didn’t mention that she was looking for a place to live or asking the driver any questions.
Also, she believes that taxi drivers, who are people providing a specific service for money, shouldn’t be commenting on your looks, suggesting going to some house by yourself when you’ve made it clear you don’t want to, or asking for clients’ numbers.
Here is the video in which you can listen to Daisy tell her story

Almost 600k people watched the video and 80k liked it. It was also seen by Bolt, who commented that they are sorry Daisy had to go through this and these kinds of behaviors are not tolerated by them.
But what do you think of this story, and do you have any similar experiences? Do you think that Daisy overreacted or did her tears reach your heart? Tell us your thoughts and opinions in the comments!
People in the comments had quite mixed opinions, saying that Daisy was overreacting, but others defended her and believed she was lucky that she escaped unharmed

Share on FacebookAll the people defending the taxi driver or downplaying that the situation isnt scary are so damn stupid. Would any of them go with a complete stranger at night to go "check out a house he can rent them"? F**k no, that's a weird and scary situation. Would any of them want to be forced to give their number to a stranger? No, that's insanely uncomfortable. And I doubt any of those people would appreciate being stared down after they get out of a taxi and feel forced to speak with another stranger so the off-putting taxi driver wouldn't approach or follow them. Being put this way makes the experience sound scary and I can see how some people would try to twist it to make it seem more innocent but if the actual person telling the story says it was scary, then it was scary. It was at least definitely scary to them to have to experienced that and it's awful that people are trying to downplay an experience that they didn't even go through.
The trying to get a customer to go to a rental house was 200 kinds of red flags. It could have meant rape, murder, robbery, or human trafficking, and at the absolute best, it would have meant putting up with a high-pressure sales pitch...
Load More Replies...Thing is, people will say 'oh, she's exaggerating, he was just being friendly.' But if she'd been attacked or killed, they would say 'why was she so stupid, why did she lead him on?'
You are so right. If she was looking for a rental and went with his and ended up raped or dead she would be blamed.
Load More Replies...To me, the driver's insistence on getting her number was the first big red flag. If he really did just want to rent out a place, he could have advertised online - there are lots of websites with listings. Hanging around was another big red flag. Good thinking on pretending to have a conversation outside the taxi. Good on her for also reporting and Bolt for cooperating.
If it had been legit he would be giving her his info, not pressuring her to give him her's.

At one point I looked towards the driver and he had his d**k out and was masturbating. I froze and turned to the passenger side window and looked out not moving. I was frozen in fear. The ride was long. My Dad met the taxi outside my home and paid the driver. I Never told my parents. Many years later I told my husband what happened and i was blamed for it. he said I gave the driver the wrong idea by getting in the front seat. I have told a few male friends since then and get the same kind of response. Why is it always the woman's fault when men act like pedophiles and perverts. This was in the early 80s. I felt more shame from being blamed for it happening then from the actual incident. I was traumatized by the incident and still have a strong distrust of taxi drivers but even at a that young and innocent age I knew I did not do anything wrong and was shocked at being blamed.
How the actual **** would anyone in their right mind blame you for this? Front seat, back seat, you could get on his damn lap for all I care, masturbating in front of you without specific consent is NOT OKAY. Not to mention, you were 13 years old! You were a child! This was all sorts of wrong, please don't blame yourself for any of this. This was 100% the driver's fault and you were a victim here. So sorry to hear you went through that, that must've been traumatizing. Hope you are good now <3

This is exactly the kind of situation where a random guy is trying to get a woman alone, or to find ways of getting access to her later, in order to assault her. If you don't think this was a dangerous situation then there is something wrong with your radar.
I just--I just dont understand why people are downplaying her experience. Like, why would it even matter if she was overreacting? She was scared, she was f*****g terrified and yall were acting like she was just making that up to get more views or whatever. We live in a world where people have little to no morals and will do whatever the f**k they want because they can and if they're quiet enough about it they won't get caught. Open your eyes and offer some emotional support, bitches.
I was in a cab recently and the driver went off of the GPS rout then said how he was going to park somewhere and me and the person I was with threatened to send our location to the police if he parked and idk what would have happened if we didn't do that
Did you report the incident to the police or the cab company?

They might wait for you after a shift or in general if ride share person making their own hours. Oh and near your home? They can drive around an watch for u to lead them to your house. Doesn't even have to be that day. Any day. They know what you look like and a general location. And it doesn't matter if you are male or female. Because being robbed or assaulted doesn't matter. It's how much information you give them and what is not their business. They are to drive you to a place. Not invade your privacy. Be safe in the age where serial killers can take you places.
And I'm not saying small talk isn't appropriate. Sure. Nice day. Your car smells nice. I like the trees today. Pay attention to your route too. Make sure u sorta plot it out in google maps if going somewhere you haven't before. Feel unsafe? Get out at the next market or gas station to "run in quickly". End your trip. Call cops. Respect your gut instincts and just be polite. And at any time just clip into your ring tones and play one for a few seconds. Say oh my dad is calling. Stop the jingle an "answer" the call. Ask the driver how long til we are there my dad is watching for the car. That will give a pause to any bad ideas someone might have if they know someone is watching for the car to pull up.

I will not get taxis alone now due to two separate, years apart incidents I experienced. It's now a case of if I can't walk home from a night out, I won't go. It's very limiting, but I'm sorry, I totally refuse to get into a car with a stranger ever again.

It is hard to tell whether she was in real danger but the whole point is she felt she was. Even if the driver wasn't out to harm her, it's super unprofessional to hit on your customers like that. If you're looking for a date, go online or ask a friend out but leave women you don't know alone, especially in a setting where they will feel trapped with you.
Good that she sent this to the company as well and I'm sorry she feels so bad and for sure it shouldn't be taken lightly. On the other side it could have been nothing, he could also just be nice, and simple "I'm not interested in renting" would solve it. I'd like people to be aware but not scared. Numerous taxi drivers helped people in difficult life situations too (yes bad things happened as well, I'm well aware). And let's be honest, people who rent black and don't want to pay taxes from extra income will not advertise online.
This article is based on her first video she uploaded that leaves a lot of the details out, she followed it up with another that better explains it. The guys was basically hitting on her the whole ride and would not drop it when she showed no interest which is what made her panic about him knowing where she lives and why she knew that his randomly offering her a place to rent was not a nice man trying to find a tenet. I was confused at first as to why she did not just say that as well having only read the above.
Load More Replies...I’ve actually seen some cases like this, where the some stranger asks questions and whatever then when the victims just straight up decline giving the stranger the information they wanted the victims become well, victims, because they angered the stranger. Sometimes it’s better to lead them on and leave the second you get the chance then anger them and endanger yourself even more. Of course if that doesn’t work then let a family member or a friend know who this person is like what they look like if you feel like you cannot just get away from them, and if you REALLY feel like it’s a situation where the person is trying to do something to you, run away and call the cops, not your friends or family, call the cops first then you’re family, the cops can do more legal action then your friends or family can in that kind of situation, sure you’re family might know where you are and who harassed you but if you end up missing, sometimes that information won’t be enough. Stay safe people
My scariest was the guy was listening to a audiobook or something really loud and it was talking about why women need to be circumcised. Got to the stop light and got out of the car. He had locked the doors so I started slamming into the door acting like a crazy person. I got out and he drove off quick. Super damn scary. This was before Uber.
The other day i got a taxi and it was this really pretty lady that was driving. We talked and i somehow told her that i was nonbinary and i had a girlfriend (? Also i tend to say stuff without meaning to) And she said ¨What was your birth gender?¨ I replied ¨I was born a girl¨ And she all of a sudden says ¨Im attracted to both genders but i don't put a label on it¨ I just said ¨Cool¨ And we stayed silent until we got to the park where i was planning to meet my girlfriend. I got off and she asked ¨Can i have your number?¨ Um Miss ma'am i just said i have a girlfriend like 5 minutes ago. I just brushed it off and walked towards my girlfriend and we talked for 5 minutes and she said ¨That lady in the taxi hasn't left yet¨ We just walked away.
Trust your gut. Don't let politeness talk you out of trusting it. You have years of learning about people, when something feels off it often is. If it is a misunderstanding then better to be safe than sorry. I totally agree with the woman, something was not right here.
Asking for her number and wanting to take her to an empty apartment is UBER CREEEEEEEPY! I think she was really smart about talking to the woman on the sidewalk, like she knew her. It's a good reminder to not give out personal information at all. Just the address and that's it. How would the driver ever know if you were visiting someone or you lived there? You can even avoid casual conversation by pulling out your phone and doing something on it. Interesting story!
Agree it sounds creepy. And he was decades older than her and wouldn't leave her in peace when it was clear she wasn't interested.
Load More Replies...I understand that is is a tricky situation: I actually wrote a (very) short story on that same subject a few years ago, based on a conversation I had in a cab. This story holds a few suggestions, like to redirect the questions toward the driver instead of answering them. It's fiction, though, and there are quite a few triggers in the story despite its small size, like: the woman in the story wears fur, something terrible happens, the ending is unfair and brutal, etc. http://www.miniprose.com/2020/02/connie-and-cab.html
Yes, totally, not like BP takes content from Reddit and FB and all other social media for content. Nope, it is people posting things on here. /s

Load More Replies...I am assuming you are a man. Do you know 5 women? Statistically speaking one of them has been raped or has been sexually assaulted. My guess is you know a whole lot more than five women so you personally talk to a rape victim likely daily. Think about that. You are the type of uneducated pieces of trash that perpetuate the problem. The amount of sexual and physical violence women face is staggering. Get educated https://www.nsvrc.org/statistics
