I had some sort of aggressive bees (not honey bees) or wasps build a nest one summer in the outer wall of my bedroom. Despite treatments it kept growing. It took multiple attacks by the exterminator to get rid of them. It was like living in an Alfred Hitchcock movie. The buzzing became so loud at night I had to sleep in a different bedroom. It was downright creepy to try and curl up and read a book and hear that.

Muffled humming sound. We had that issue with the rental we lived in while I was pregnant with my son. That landlord had some HEFTY fine...illegal apartment, inadequate heating, plumbing issues, no dumpster. Hubby got a job in another state, which was good for us!
