However, for some dog owners, cuteness is boring and they want their doggo to scare the living daylights out of their neighbors instead. They achieved this in one of the most innovative ways ever - by turning their furry friends into vicious, chillingly scary dogs with the help of a simple novelty muzzle.
If you’re all about shock value as well, love supernatural creatures and believe it’s never too early to get ready for Halloween, then you might consider getting a dog muzzle for your pooch that looks exactly like the snarling jaws of a rabid werewolf.

There are three muzzle sizes to choose from (medium, large and extra-large) so most dog lovers will have the opportunity to turn their fluffy amigos into terrifying Terriers.
The werewolf muzzle is as fun as it is scary, but it raises a couple of important issues. First of all, most pooches that wear muzzles are seen as dangerous dogs, whether or not they really are. Secondly, some people think that muzzling dogs is cruel.
The fact is, a dog with a muzzle means its owner is being responsible and very careful. For example, the dog might have recently been injured and we all know how pain can make even the friendliest critters lash out. Meanwhile, other dogs are very inquisitive and will eat anything in sight, from pebbles to bugs, so it’s important to prevent this for their own sake. Lastly, depending on where you live and what breed your dog is, you may be legally forced to make it wear a muzzle, even if your pupper has never hurt anyone before. As far as cruelty is concerned, it’s very important that your dog has been trained to wear muzzles and that they aren’t too small or constricting.
Some experts argue that all owners should get their dogs used to muzzles from an early age, just in case they need to wear one in the future. According to experts, sooner or later a situation will occur where your dog will have to wear a muzzle, so it’s in everyone’s interest for the dog not to fear muzzles from the very start. Aww, thanks for rescuing that sweet pup! The longer she's in a loving home, the more confident she will get. Depending on how traumatizing she had it before, she may never be real open around strangers. My dog is scared of his own shadow sometimes. He will be outside pooping and haul butt yelping that a blade of grass caught him offguard. But he's a chihuahua and they're just weird too. But they're all awesome no matter what their quirks are, just makes them so much more special.

This is wrong. Pet dogs should never be used to intimidate other people and that is what these masks will do. Many adults and children are scared of dogs or have had traumatic experiences with them. these muzzles are cruel and irresponsible.
Also, it's not great to muzzle your dog if it doesn't need it.
Hey Tracy, former dog trainer here, all dogs should be muzzle trained and able to wear a muzzle regardless of whether they ‘need’ it or not. It’s a very useful skill in emergency situations, these folks just didn’t want a regular muzzle
It’s a mostly Halloween thing if your kid is that much of a coward then don’t take them out for Halloween also you could go to a place that doesn’t allow dogs
I don't think the owners use this to intimidate other people. Don't you read the article, like at all? Some use it for Halloween (which scaring people is kinda a point), and some use it for a haunted house (again scaring people is the point), while others use this at home, and even just for a photo.

I’m pretty sure they try to hear the sound, also when an animal is scared they secrete a scent that is associated by animals as the scent of fear, when an animal attacks another animal that can fight back they usually secrete that scent

I think it is a good idea to *talk to you Vet* and train your dog to wearing a *correct* muzzle. In case it is needed because dog gets injured / is sick and has to wear it. This shit...no. For all the many reasons.
Who thought that this was a good idea? The number of dog bite incidents are increasing (often due to people's stupidity but that's another story). This is going to make matters worse- scare children and people. Muzzles are for practical use, not for fun.

I am so mixed about this. On the one hand I work really hard to combat the stigma my pit bulls face every single day, even in their own neighborhood where they've lived for 10 years and never once had any issues with any one person or their pet/s. BUT a small part of me would love to put this on them and walk them past the one house of neighbors that are extremely ignorant and HATE us and make our lives miserable because of our dogs. They might just faint lol of course my one dog wouldn't think anything of it because he gets muzzled at the vet. He would be none the wiser.
Maybe the teeth can scare somebody, but those tender eyes are saying just the opposite. They all look like very good boys and girls!!
