One of the most common questions regarding aesthetics is 'what things count as art?' To Adam Hillman (previously here), the answer to this question is as broad as it is narrow. Adam arranges everyday objects into dynamic patterns to subvert their traditional use and redefine them as tools for artistic innovation.
"I grew up fascinated with art history, so it seemed natural to want to create my own art," he told Bored Panda. "Instead of traditional painting and sculpture, I wanted to use materials that reflected the time I live in, which is why I use everyday objects."

Food is arguably his most common choice. "Unlike more permanent mediums, food is transitory, and can only be preserved through methods such as photography," Adam explained. "Because I use Instagram account as my way of exposing my work to a larger audience, I use food because it is something that is unique to photography because it can only be experienced through reproduction, unlike painting or sculpture which are better experienced in person and can be bought and sold as an object."
"Likewise, unlike mediums designated as high art, food art can be more readily understood and enjoyed by everyone, making it a more democratic option."
"As we live in a time dominated by widespread food-based advertising, I think food art is becoming especially relevant. Rather than seeing grocery stores as merely a means of sustenance, it redefines these seemingly utilitarian stores as areas of artistic possibility, making viewers more perceptive to the aesthetic possibilities of everyday things that they would normally take for granted."
Showcasing the lovely colors that nature can make while giving the contrast that can be found on/in the same items- it's weirdly beautiful. And seriously such clean lines.
I swear I'll never again be satisfied with my ability to fry an egg. Damn.
These all get eaten at some point, right? I hope all this great produce doesn't go to waste!

Hey Craig. I used to work at Bazaar Del Mundo in early 70's. Are you related to Richard? He got mad when all us gals stuck our fingers into a huge box of See's chocolates to see what was inside one Easter. And he was honking at me in my VW bug from his Ferrari on the freeway right before highway patrol got on their loudspeaker and told ME to slow down. If not. It was fun remembering.
i know it;s supposed to be calming and satisfying, but i find each picture intensely disturbing. anyone else?
Jep me, al that wasted of food makes me angry, knowing that there are lots of people who has nothing to eat at all
How do you know they didnt eat it after the pic was taken?
This food wouldn't have found its way to the hungry no matter what. A huge amount of food purchased to be eaten is discarded. That upsets me. This, at least, had a purpose, didn't just go to waste in the bottom of a refrigerator or cabinet. There is enough food in this country. It just doesn't get to the people who are in need. Look at the schools who were dunning those parents who owed for their children's lunches, and upset everyone. This should never happen. That you should protest, not a few pounds of fruit and veggies and sugar laden treats and cereals with minimal nutritional value.

Nope. Loved it.
OK, these might be a little better than pasta shapes glued to cardboard and spray painted gold. Not saying I ever did that.

Gosh. What are you saying? You don't like them? Did you actually look at the knife skill involved in some of them? How about the balance in the arrangements? Colour and shape and composition. By the way, pasta glued and spray painted can be done incredibly well or incredibly poorly.
