People Share Apocalyptic Photos Of Sao Paulo Which Went Pitch Black During Daytime From Amazon Fires

Imagine waking up in the middle of the day only to realize it’s still the middle of the night. Only it isn’t and it’s actually the sky that’s covered with such a thick layer of black smoke, barely any sun rays can get through. Now, this may sound like some sort of apocalyptic scenario but that’s the chilling reality that the residents of São Paulo, Brazil, had to experience.
On Monday, Brazil’s most populous city suddenly plunged into darkness as thick black clouds from the raging Amazon forest fires slowly crept over the busy metropolis.
On Monday, Brazil’s busiest city has been completely covered by thick dark clouds
In an interview with Folha De S. Paulo, meteorologist Franco Nadal Villela said the darkening was caused by a cold front from the east of São Paulo meeting with the fine dust brought in from the fires in Mato Grosso do Sul.
See the eerie Gotham City-esque view in the video below
Residents have been reporting the dark clouds since around 3 PM

And it doesn’t end just there – some residents collected rainwater that was black as tar

Even though the fires are burning over 1,700 miles away from Sao Paulo, the winds still managed to carry the black dust this great distance.

This is what happens when you elect a far right dickwad for your president. I should know... I live in the US. We're all screwed.
I hope Brazil’s president gets respiratory illness from all that smoke. I wonder how the poor aboriginals living in the rainforests are faring right now?
Badly. Last I heard on Sky News this morning, there have been a number of fatalities of the indigenous people. We are the craziest and most stupid animal on this earth.
Yes, exactly...these forest makes air!! People are eating too much meat, the deforestation for food for the animals...omg people, f wake up!!!
lmao hes only president for a yr ......while left wing presidents ruled for 12 yrs ...i dont like bolsonaro but sayin its hes fault is ridiculous and ignorant

What does the president of the USA have to do with the tragedy happening in the Amazon right now?? Or am I misunderstand? Sorry bad english
Since our two countries have equally rotten to the core dickwads at the helm, Yethica is merely empathizing with the Brazilian people.

As a brazilian citizen, I tell you: don't believe in everything you read on the papers. Trust me on that...
So tell us the truth, then.

How lucky you are to live in the USA with jobs and and a great economy. I don't believe the President of Brazil started the fire.
At least Jair Bolsonaro can't deny this is happening when the cities are affected like this. You'll remember that he said that climate change science is a plot by Marxists. I doubt he'll change his tune (witness how he has tried to shift blame), but maybe people will start to realize that they shouldn't listen to blowhards like him.
Don’t underestimate what conservatives will deny. Seeing isn’t believing to them.
I wouldnt be so quick to lump conservatives together as all climate change deniers

Most of the fires are gonig on the forest located at Bolívia's territory, as the NASA pictures shows.
This is what the world has come to. We need change and fast if we want to keep the earth going.
Great, so you’re ready to make some steps. The first would be to never eat red meat. Can you do that? You might, but a lot of people who say “we need to change!” would have a thousand excuses as to why that “won’t help” and how it’s someone else’s fault or not enough. Those people are just as responsible for this as the farmers who set that rainforest on fire to use for their cattle and livestock-feed farming.
Your logic doesn't make sense. If that was the case, every country would be seeing farmers deforesting. Even if we all went vegan, where do you grow enough food due to the increase of demand on vegetables? The farmers would stop deforesting for cows and would switch to deforesting for land to plow. The problem here is not the product but the mentality being exploiting said product.
Still doesn't hurt that we encourage each individual to do their part. It all adds up. And people can influence each other to join the effort. But I agree with your point we need some organizational forces beyond that.
It will take the society to change not just an individual. The fact that you demand perfection from anyone wanting to do the right thing is unreasonable and will stop the changes we need from happening
CP, and "the society" consists of many individuals. If a person truly cared about this theme, then the person would do what she/he can. And it's obvious that being vegan or at least being vegetarian helps a lot there. Per minute rainforest area big as 42 football fields are destroyed. Per year 158.000 square kilometer (calculated per minute). Mostly for the meat production. One person can do something.
You're obviously more invested in standing on your pulpit than actually doing something. There are ways to eat red meat that have absolutely no effect on what's happening in Brazil but you can't seem to get that through you thick self-righteous skull. Your way is not the only way.

I seldom agree with you, but this time I absolutely support your opinion. Every time we buy something, even the smallest object, we are voting for the kind of world we want. Stop buying unnecessary stuff: less clothes, less red meat, less fruit from the other side of the world, less electric appliances... We, the citizens in the developed countries, are creating this shit every time we go to the supermarket or to the shopping centre. Lets stop consuming rubbish!
Mewton's Third paw is right on this. The demand for the product dictates the production of it, regardless of if we are talking about red meat, cocaine, or avocadoes. Information, education, discussion, and even regulation can all be helpful in bringing about change. Here is an interesting article on the subject: https://theconversation.com/is-a-vegetarian-diet-really-more-environmentally-friendly-than-eating-meat-71596

I knew none of you would be willing to do shit. At least stop complaining over it then. For those of you that pretended to ask questions, the answers to all of those things are out there. There’s no point in sharing with you since you won’t accept it just like you couldn’t accept this.
