After This Sexist High School Sent 20+ Girls Home For Dress Code Violation, Boys Had A Perfect Response
161Kviews
A bunch of male students have come up with a brilliant way to take a stand against what they consider to be sexist dress codes at their high school.
On their first day at San Benito High School in Hollister, California, around 20 girls were sent home for violating the school’s dress code policy, which apparently prohibits off-the-shoulder tops. School administrators had never enforced this rule before, and students had even been allowed to pose for their senior year book pictures wearing shoulder-bearing clothes, so it seemed unfair to punish them for it, especially without warning. The school apparently told students that the dress code policy was to “keep kids safe,” but many students found the rule downright sexist.
Because of this, one group of guys decided to launch a protest by coming to school dressed in woman’s off-the-shoulder shirts, and although the result is admittedly amusing, the stunt has helped to generate a positive dialogue about dress codes with Adrian Ramirez, school principal at San Benito.
“It’s been a really good process for me as principal to sit down and hear where issues arose,” Ramirez told Yahoo. He also released a statement on the school’s Facebook page stating that “our next steps will include organizing a committee of students to continue dialogue regarding the dress code.”
Whatever the outcome, we’re glad to see male students standing up for women’s rights at school. (h/t)
Is there anything wrong with this picture? San Benito High School in Hollister, California thought so
A number of girls were sent home on their first day of school for violating the dress code
In response, guys from the school decided to protest in a brilliant way
Believing the dress code to be sexist, they decided to come to school in off-the-shoulder tops
The effect was amusing but the message was powerful
Especially as the school had previously allowed girls to wear off-the-shoulder tops for their senior year book
Since they wanna dress code all girls for showing too much shoulder, EXPLAIN THIS pic.twitter.com/HubvYN3dtC

Some people supported the protest
Other people sided with the school

I'm really wondering what is provocative about a SHOULDER? Seriously? We never had dress codes in my school in Germany and we never had any issues either. You could come to school in your bikini / swimshorts if you felt like it (and if you could stand the other students talking about it)
John L, you're absolutely right "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" The prevention in this case is teaching boys/men to respect Women, much like my parents taught me when I was 5.
Exactly!
According to my school dress code, shoulders DISTRACT FROM THE LEARNING PROCESS.

The provocative thing is that the elastic top allows some guy to come up and pull the blouse all the way down to the girl's waist. By requiring blouses to have tops around the neck, this is not possible, without tearing the clothing. Its the same thing as not allowing the guys to wear their jeans down beyond their waist. The rule makes perfectly good sense. Does this help?
It is never the responsibility of a woman to make sure a man can control himself. It's hard to understand why men don't get that this idea completely demeans them.
If that's the real problem then just tie the hands of those guys behind their back till they learn that they aren't to touch other people's body like it's a toy and to not do anything they wouldn't do to their own mother. Satisfied?
.... so because boys might be dicks you restrict the girl rather than expect more of the boy. That's a little sad, John, and severely outdatedly sexist.
So it's the girls' fault that no one taught the boys how to control themselves? How about punishing the boys for doing it, not the girls for being assaulted?
Doesn't help me at all. Why should the girls be forced to dress a certain way to avoid the boys sexually assaulting them? Shouldn't it instead be completely against the rules for the boys to sexually assault them? I mean forcing girls to dress a certain way to avoid that is ridiculous.
Aren't you teaching your young men the correct way to treat females over there in the USA?!? SMH
That's not provocative. Using that term means that it's the girls fault boys acting like dicks. Come on people! It's time to assume your acts! If some boys/men think that it's a joke to undress someone else without his/her consent this boys/men have a problem.
A boy could also lift a shirt. Perhaps girls should be required to install zippers that attach the hem of their shirts to the waistband of their pants.
Wow. I sincerely hope that's not the reason. I have no words for how backwards that is.
No boys and girls, there are young males who love to play jokes, or check out a girl's breasts, just to be a smart-ass. And proper morals never go out of date, so grow up little children. I would have thought better of you all.

Aunt Messy, have you ever heard of the old saying that "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"? That's called Common Sense. ;D

See, even my grandson has more common sense than you folks do.
Dress code, fine, just apply it consistently & to all genders. More importantly though, shaming females for "provocative" dress only adds to rape culture. Rape is 100% wrong 100% of the time & 100% the fault of the rapist. Teach THAT.
I praise these brave young men to stand in solidarity with their female mates. Good job, guys!
