Cats have a pretty good deal in life. They sleep all day, they get petted whenever they demand it, they eat for free, and they don't have to pay any rent. As you can see from the pictures below however, not all cats are happy with their easy lives. In fact, some cats are downright miserable, like Luhu the tabby for example, who might just be the world's saddest feline. She lives in Beijing with her human mom, Maggie Liu, and her various other siblings, but although the cats all share the same parents, Luhu is the only one that looks as sad as she does. She does however bring plenty of joy to her 135k Instagram followers, who can't get enough of her mournful expression. Check out some of our favorite pictures below, and don't forget to vote for your favorite!

Draw me like one of your depressed French girls, because she knows you're going to freeze to death in a few hours.
This poor little kitty probably has a genetic disorder called Ehlers Danilo’s. The muscles droop and she cant control them. I had no idea cats could get this disorder but Google pictures and you will see they all look this way.
I think Luhu is gorgeous and she's probably heartbroken by all the cruelty inflicted on her fellow felines outside her window. I pray she and her siblings stay safe.
I don't know what breed of cat this is but I think the expression is normal. The eyelids droop a bit so the eyes never look wide open and the mouth is quite small. The combination gives the impression of sadness but that's our human take based on appearance alone. The cat's behavior is a much better gauge of its happiness and health. I think Luhu is beautiful.
Lately more and more pets carry intense expressions , might that have anything to do with the increasing time they spend browsing the internet..
I follow this cat's account on Instagram haha its so adorable :)
The cat isn't sad, Lulu's eyes are just shaped that way. This article is cute but misleading. Most cats live miserably sad lives as most are wild or stray. The majority of them don't live very long. In Canada, they often freeze to death. It's the sad truth. The lucky few are adopted into good homes. Unfortunately I've known a lot of people who treat them like objects and get rid of them once they grow older. :(
Very adorabrat kitteh! I doubt it's sad, seems the owner takes good care of it.
