Did you know that shark pregnancies can last 3 years, giraffes only sleep for 2 hours, and pigs can’t see the sky?
I’ve been illustrating these adorably sad facts and sharing them online for less than 2 months, and so far 6,500 people on Instagram have learned and laughed, and gotten slightly depressed.

They can't jump for a reason I guess *shrug* Imagine if elephants are able to jump or act like a dog. We're doomed.
Dogfish have the longest known gestation period of any shark, at 18 to 24 months. Basking sharks and frilled sharks appear to have even longer gestation periods, but accurate data are lacking.
This is false. I've seen my own dogs react to things on a T.V. screen. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2015/01/150111-animals-dogs-television-pets-science-tv-behavior/
I'm sure my dog can see TV. He would launch off the couch and run up barking when another dog would appear (volume or none!).
Load More Replies...My dog can, he actually barks everytime a dog (or horse) comes on the screen.
Dogs can see television. It's a sad myth to perpetuate that they can't.
Dogs cannot see in the color spectrum humans can, so they can see TV just not the way we do.
This is truly false. Hasn't anyone watch Too Cute on the Animal Planet lately? Even my cats watch TV. They love watching Jack Hanna.
Why shouldn't dogs be able to see TV? My dog will bark and jump around if she sees another dog on the screen!
That is false. I've seen if a dog appears on tv my dog barks and gets behind the tv when they dissapeare
This used to be true but the beauty of technology... Now that modern TVs generate more frames per second, dogs can perceive the pictures as film, just like we do. We humans need about 16 to 20 images a second to perceive what we see as continuous film, whereas dogs need about 70 images per second.
They could not see the old tube TVs, but CAN see the new HD higher rate frame televisions. I will have the TV on mute, and a dog will come on the screen and my dogs will bark at it. It's the new style of TVs that they can see.
I disagree too. Our Golden will hear or see something from the couch and watch intently. Sometimes, she walks right up to the screen and looks at it.
My golden does the same thing. Her favorite is the lion roar at the beginning of the MGM movies
Load More Replies...I disagree! Our Golden will hear something and zoom in on it from the couch or floor right away. If it's really interesting to her, she walks up to see the TV closely'
This ain't right. My dog will watch TV until another dog appears on the screen. Then he goes nuts.
Awwwhhhh....poor beez...Everyone if you see a bee just stay out of its way and let it do its thing....they work most of there lives and people are saying there population is decreasing. So next time if you're about to kill a bee, just think...if you kill that bee its just one step closer for death to bees, and fresh tasty honey....
The sleep behaviour of giraffes was looked at in detail by Tobler & Schwierin (1996) who showed that giraffes slept both while standing and while recumbent for a total of 4.6 hours per 24 hours.
So that's what happens to me when I feel like crying for no reason. Too much salt! :p
They nest in tree holes where they often sleep together in curled up positions. Their territories are marked by fecal and scent markings. Their diet consists primarily of fruits and flowers and they seem to play a part in the pollination of certain plants
Also false. Puma, cougars, and mountain lions are the same animal but Jaguars are a completely different animal. Who came up with these "facts"?
If I were to sleep for 17 years I would wake up in my mid thirties. That is sad. ):
Load More Replies...So cute! Although most of these don't have irrefutable evidence to prove wether or not there 100% accurate it still super
Dogs do see TV. Especially animals. Some don't particularly care though.
Some of these are just plain WRONG.....ESPECIALLY dogs and T.V.......snopes.com it! But super cute illustrations!
Seriously. No post about animals is complete without cats!
