The #10YearChallenge has gone so viral, it even became a meme. But among all the smiles and giggles, a serious version of the hashtag has emerged as well. Recently, people started using it to show the devastating changes our planet has been going through. From environmentalist NGOs and activists to regular internet users, many are saying this is the only #10YearChallenge we shouldn't ignore. Please check out ECOSIA. Its a browser like google , but they donate 80% of there revenue to the Reforestation worldwide. They allready planted over 45 Million trees !! :)
This concerns the Aral Lake in Uzebekstian and is not the result of Climate change but Stalin's disastrous ambitions.
Such a drastic change in just three years. It's making me cry seeing how unaware us humans are to all this .
Be nice if the picture was of the same place, from the same angle...
I'm starting to believe... I can't believe I didn't realize the horrid truth before. 😥
This is Photoshopped. Look at the waves in front and back of the pictures.
This doesn't appear to be the same location. Look at the shape of the hills in the background of the top picture -- now compare that profile to the bottom picture. Different topography.
While I agree that there are definite issues that need to be addressed, my biggest problem with most of these images is that they are misleading at best and purposely deceptive at worst. There is no context for many of these so no way to actually tell what the real truth of the situation is. For example, the coral reef pictures, there is no way to tell if they are the same coral reefs, and if fact looking at the terrain they look different. Also the river pictures. If you live near a river you know that certain times of the year, rivers turn muddy because of rain in the mountains running down into the rivers. Has nothing to do with pollution. Or the ocean pollution pictures. You have no idea if that was taken in the same place, or two separate places in different parts of the world. I understand that they are trying to make a point about what is happening, but the purposefully trying to deceive people is the reason a lot of people aren't buying into the global warming hysteria.
Horrendous... though i don't want to be generic, we really, REALLY need to stop this. Think about what you're doing when you go to the beach. Make sure you pick up what you leave behind. Bike or walk places. Recycle! Be overly pushy about this. Annoy the living s**t out of everyone around you by telling them to do these things. It's small, but even the smallest things can make a difference.
Everyone debating climate change should listen to Sir David Attenborough in the interview conducted by Prince William. Watch Koko the Gorilla's heart breaking response (in sign language) after she was shown images of the Earth. "Earth is sick, it's too late, Koko sad". *Forgive if I have the exact words wrong.* We are dangerously close to irreparable damage. Half the world cares more about the f*****g Kardashians and what colour lipstick they are wearing. The packaging plastic created by one of the sisters cosmetic lines is an example of the destruction inflicted on the environment. I admire David Attenborough, I can't imagine the heartache he feels with the knowledge he has as an environmentalist watching the Earth become so so sick. :( I think that deniers simply don't want to change or sacrifice their materialism. Sir David makes explicit the reality of us destroying our home. " The garden of Eden is no more". Humans are parasitic. It truly breaks my heart.
This article was so sad, but true. I hate what we have done to this planet. Especially deforestation. What we humans are doing to the trees is kind of like what would happen if someone just decided to wreck down your house to build theirs. Not cool, people.
What I think? I think we don't have as many money or career or power-problems as we all think we do. We are too self-obsessed - so we will at some point be gone. Gaïa will continue without us - so we need to be aware, be ashamed in a productive way and march on -
So sad that ppl care more about a photo possibly photoshopped than the absolute disaster happening right before their eyea
If you insult someone with a yo momma-joke, they'll get mad and don't want you to be disrespectful. Yet mother earth we take for granted. Stupid us.
Lake Shasta was at the end of a 10-12 year drought in 2014 as happens in CA. It is now full.
I wonder how many of the people that wail 'We must DO something!' have a new cell phone very two years and thousands of travel miles under their betl. My generation (Generation Xers) did jack-sh*t for the climate (for some other issues, yes, but not climate) but I look at my nieces and nephews and their carbon footprint is wayyyy higher than mine ever was.
Our planet is slowly evaporating and crumbling because of our actions and inactions. God, this is saddening and maddening. How can Global Warming and Climate Change be ignored or dismissed when such beautiful bodies of water, lush forests, majestic creatures are literally wasting away! We should do our best to preserve our home. While the pictures can be misleading the situation is still the same as our seasons are changing, rain patterns are amuck, and temperatures are beyond the norm. Our planet is trying to tell us something.
There you can see it. 206 likes here. And the stars get over 280. Great world guys
Are pollution and climate change not two different issues - eg a seal with plastic around its neck considering they are threatening to launch the 'Internet of Things' with a 'billion more devices' coming into our regular daily lives, each wrapped in plastic and ultimately disposable...certainly it doesn't help if people throw in false pics, but some are clearly not false and do make a visual point, though hey let's keep it honest folks!
Many of these photos lacked consistent locations, camera angles, or context. Still, the message is legit: we are f*****g up our closed system by digging up s**t that was safe in the ground when life developed here, concentrating it to toxic levels, burning it, and dumping it all over the place. Again: closed system. We are f*****g it up. It will lead to dystopian -f**k that; this is already dystopic enough. It will lead to much WORSE misery, suffering, and conflict. REGULATE capitalism and get corporate types out of government.
It is so sad\ to see the devestation caused by us, hOW CAN WE STOP IT? How can we change iT? i DON'T BELIEVE THAT THESE PICTURES are purposefully misleading. I have seen some of the destruction caused by some of the glaciers in Alaska. IT is serious! WE need to take it seriously. Global, warming is real!
Part 1 of 2: There's hardly anything that makes me as angry as global warming deniers. When I hear the statement that such changes in climate were always there and are completely natural, I'd seriously like to punch that person. In my childhood (I'm 36) the lakes around me were frozen 15 inch deep and more, and you could ice skate on them with your whole family without needing to worry. It was so cold that I was wearing two long johns under my pants and three pullovers under my jacket. In the last 10 years or so the lakes weren't frozen at all. Older people can tell you stories of our river being frozen. And it's a relatively fast-flowing waterway where large container vessels travel. Do you realize how little 10 or 50 years are in earth's history? Ice ages take millions to several hundred millions of years. You really don't need to be smart to understand what's happening. You can check out the reasons for yourself. Look at satellite pictures of the earth's night side.
I'm passionate about the environment, but goddamn it I hate how the issues are portrayed by people. Photo fakes, hyperbole, and worshiping at the alter of "climate change" as the catch-all for everything that happens while at the same time ignoring far more pressing issues. Coral reef damage is massive and needs to be fixed right now, and it's an actually measurable thing, unlike climate change. So sick of everyone doing things like eating meat (awful for freshwater supplies and pollution) while on their computer at the coffee shop they drove to, yet getting on their high horse as if the fact they recycle and hashtag about climate change makes them infallible. The ends do NOT justify the means. If environmentalists were honest about polar bears and ice etc, they'd get taken more seriously by skeptics.
I wonder how many people commenting about the sad state of the environment eat animal products and therefore contribute massively to this nearly insurmountable problem?
Polar bears are doing great, this faked bear issue was misused multiple times, old ill individual human or bear look alike.
