While the point is valid, I wish people would use actual photos instead of photoshopping ones like this. It's the same photo, just darkened with digital trash added. If you look at the background, the wave crests are absolutely identical. So is the wave pattern on the shore. If you've been to the beach once, you know this doesn't happen.
I live in Florida near the Atlantic beach. I can personally tell you that trash like this has become a huge problem on our beaches in the last ten years. Every time I go I’m collecting bags of trash from the beach such as plastic bottles, plastic cups (e.g. McDonalds drink cups), cigarette butts by the handful, plastic food wrappers, and other trash either washed on the shore or left on the beach by disrespectful people who can’t walk a few feet to a trash can. So whether this picture is photoshopped or not doesn’t matter, because if you want proof of what humans are doing to the environment with our wasteful lifestyle then go outside and see for yourself.

This doesn't appear to be the same location. Look at the shape of the hills in the background of the top picture -- now compare that profile to the bottom picture. Different topography.
While I agree that there are definite issues that need to be addressed, my biggest problem with most of these images is that they are misleading at best and purposely deceptive at worst. There is no context for many of these so no way to actually tell what the real truth of the situation is. For example, the coral reef pictures, there is no way to tell if they are the same coral reefs, and if fact looking at the terrain they look different. Also the river pictures. If you live near a river you know that certain times of the year, rivers turn muddy because of rain in the mountains running down into the rivers. Has nothing to do with pollution. Or the ocean pollution pictures. You have no idea if that was taken in the same place, or two separate places in different parts of the world. I understand that they are trying to make a point about what is happening, but the purposefully trying to deceive people is the reason a lot of people aren't buying into the global warming hysteria.
Yep. Some pictures show actual facts, but far too many aim for basic emotional responses. And as I said in a comment, it completely undermines the aim of this post. Always the same problem. We have a bug and very real issue (e.g., destruction of our own habitat) but we prefer to use emotions rather than scientific facts, the only facts that can actually move things forward.

Horrendous... though i don't want to be generic, we really, REALLY need to stop this. Think about what you're doing when you go to the beach. Make sure you pick up what you leave behind. Bike or walk places. Recycle! Be overly pushy about this. Annoy the living s**t out of everyone around you by telling them to do these things. It's small, but even the smallest things can make a difference.

I wonder how many of the people that wail 'We must DO something!' have a new cell phone very two years and thousands of travel miles under their betl. My generation (Generation Xers) did jack-sh*t for the climate (for some other issues, yes, but not climate) but I look at my nieces and nephews and their carbon footprint is wayyyy higher than mine ever was.
Our planet is slowly evaporating and crumbling because of our actions and inactions. God, this is saddening and maddening. How can Global Warming and Climate Change be ignored or dismissed when such beautiful bodies of water, lush forests, majestic creatures are literally wasting away! We should do our best to preserve our home. While the pictures can be misleading the situation is still the same as our seasons are changing, rain patterns are amuck, and temperatures are beyond the norm. Our planet is trying to tell us something.

When I hear the statement that such changes in climate were always there and are completely natural, I'd seriously like to punch that person. In my childhood (I'm 36) the lakes around me were frozen 15 inch deep and more, and you could ice skate on them with your whole family without needing to worry. It was so cold that I was wearing two long johns under my pants and three pullovers under my jacket. In the last 10 years or so the lakes weren't frozen at all. Older people can tell you stories of our river being frozen. And it's a relatively fast-flowing waterway where large container vessels travel. Do you realize how little 10 or 50 years are in earth's history? Ice ages take millions to several hundred millions of years. You really don't need to be smart to understand what's happening. You can check out the reasons for yourself. Look at satellite pictures of the earth's night side.
Part 2 of 2: There are lights everywhere. There's hardly any notable spot that isn't populated. Open Google Earth and select a random large city, then zoom out and look for forests. There's just concrete -> agricultural land -> coast. Remain in a relatively far out zoomed state and look for a while. Select other countries randomly. It doesn't matter. The longer you look, the colder it will run down your spine. It will really change your perspective when actually seeing it. We massively pollute and deforest the earth 24/7 since hundreds of years and the atmosphere is just a thin layer, a few miles thick. If this development would be natural at this speed, and not induced by humans, then how cold was it 1000 or 2000 years ago? -250 °F? This makes no sense. Or has this speed started just as humanity increased to billions and the industrialisation began? What a coincidence! Considering how unimaginably little a few hundred years are in geological terms. Don't you think? I can't imagine how stupid one have to be to not get this. I'm actually wondering why it doesn't happen even faster, considering what we are doing and at which scale. The saddest part about it is that most of the damage is caused by a few people hoarding ridiculous amounts of money that exists only as a number and is never used.

Photo fakes, hyperbole, and worshiping at the alter of "climate change" as the catch-all for everything that happens while at the same time ignoring far more pressing issues. Coral reef damage is massive and needs to be fixed right now, and it's an actually measurable thing, unlike climate change. So sick of everyone doing things like eating meat (awful for freshwater supplies and pollution) while on their computer at the coffee shop they drove to, yet getting on their high horse as if the fact they recycle and hashtag about climate change makes them infallible. The ends do NOT justify the means. If environmentalists were honest about polar bears and ice etc, they'd get taken more seriously by skeptics.
You do realize that climate change is the leading cause of coral reef damage, right? The combination of higher water temperatures and ocean acidification caused directly by carbon dioxide concentrations are the two factors most responsible for coral bleaching. I fully agree that people should stop eating meat and look at all the issues, but getting upset about people acknowledging unfortunate but undeniable facts is silly.
