This actually made me feel sick to my stomach. The thought that this poor animal is out there in this condition is so wrong.

This is irksome. While the polar bear is not wet (a simple Google- or Ecosia- search will show you what a healthy wet bear looks like), this animals condition could be contributed to starvation, illness or injury. Either way, it's not healthy, and climate change is a reality.

I cannot get over the fact that there are people that actually think this is not related to global warming and habitat destruction. Humans are capable of such incredible things but we have yet to master how to coexist with Mother Earth.

For all we know, the second one was sick, which is in no way related to global warming. Not saying that global warming is fake, hey. But I'm a scientist, thus I tend not to conclude based on emotions...

I’m wondering the same about this comparison set. I don’t want the thing I care about being presented dishonestly.

I’m pretty sure that’s just a polar bear who recently got out of the water you can tell because of dripping water and his wet fur it’s all about perspective

60 years ago - a few thousand. 2019 35k+ polar bears. Would that be the case of an unhealty and underfed population? Scare mongering.

One polar bear in the snow and just after getting out of the water. Ever seen a dog or cat after swimming? Their fur looks just like the "2015" photo. You can see he is dripping wet. Not a good comparison.

We have a polar bear at our zoo and he gets in and out of the water - NEVER looks like THIS!! Wet fur doesn't expose THEIR BONES, IDIOT!!

No wait, because this was on tv and it was not what it looks like. This was a sick bear, with a form of cancer. The other bears in the area were fat and plump, so not due to climate change. Although the cancer is probably due to pollution..

The bear is not just wet. That’s ignorant. There’s a lot of overfishing-there’s nothing left for the bears to eat.

I agree that this is a very disturbing picture collage, but even in perfectly healthy environments animals age and die. I do NOT want to see the end of Polar Bears but one getting old, losing weight, and dying because it can no longer hunt effectively is also a perfectly normal part of life.

this bear is just wet.... there was a study done to show that the health of polar bears has not at all declined in the past two decades, based on body mass and fat levels. This is from the Norwegian Polar Bear Institute, and not just from a photo taken by a Greenpeace activist trying to make an issue out of something she has no awareness on.... sure polar bears are at risk, but this photo is taken out of context

I'm not arguing wether you are right or wrong about the studies done on the impact of polar bear health and the results of those studies because I have not researched that information myself, but that picture is definitely not "just a wet bear". That picture really is a picture of a starving bear, wet or not. A healthy, wet bear looks much different than the bear in the c The reason the

I remember some time ago about a picture of a sick/old polar bear that was mistaken or made like as it was a polar bear starvating because of climate change. Is this one?

The second one looks like my dog now. She was very healthy then a sudden weight loss due to cancer, not global warming.

FFS, more of this climate change hyperbolic nonsense. Polar bear populations are NOT declining on the whole. Don't take my word for it, Google it. If we keep going at this rate of Co2 it will definitely change and it'll be bad for polar bears and we should be doing something about it, but that literally hasn't happened yet so f**k right off with this garbage propaganda.

Misleading way to make a point about a valid issue........the same bear will look very different in a wet state than it does in a dry state and they move back and forth from solid ice to ice floes during the hunting/feeding process. This was true before the first fossil fuel was ignited by man.

Stop the absolute nonsense. A wet bear will not be skeletal, even after hibernation. Bring your reddit deniers over to this place, but to have the temerity to spout such rubbish should be beneath you. Disgustingly apologetic for things you barely comprehend.

This is the last one I looked at. I can't look at anymore. As a species the humans are failing. We have all of the knowledge and power to do something but the people in charge make it impossible. They look at conservation as an expense and not profitable.

This doesn't appear to be the same location. Look at the shape of the hills in the background of the top picture -- now compare that profile to the bottom picture. Different topography.
