Someone Criticizes Ryan Reynolds For Promoting R-Rated Movie To Kids Battling Cancer And His Response Is Epic
During the filming of the sequel to the hit movie Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds and the crew decided to invite some kids with pretty serious medical conditions on set to meet their heroes. “One of the best parts of playing the Big Red Jackass is welcoming @makeawishamerica and @childrenswishfoundation onto set,” he wrote on Instagram. “Deadpool kicked Cancer in the taint, but these kids do it for real every day.”
Nice move right? Not everyone thought so. “Guys Deadpool is an R-rated movie and those kids are watching it… I think something is wrong here,” was the response of one fan. Fair enough, that’s their opinion and they are entitled to it. I don’t necessarily agree, but I wouldn’t consider it a ‘troll’ either.
Clearly this commenter was in the minority and was quickly shut down, with Reynolds himself delivering his own comeback. “Yup. Deadpool is Rated R,” he said. “If my kid went through a fraction of the s–t these kids deal with daily, I think they can watch whatever they like. That’s just my .02 cents.”
Nice reply! These are some special kids going through some seriously tough circumstances. Perhaps a day on set with a movie-star might be just what they need, so why not focus on the positives? Scroll down to see Ryan and the kids on set, and let us know what you think in the comments!
If you didn’t know it already, Ryan Reynolds is not a guy you can mess with online
Recently he posted a series of pictures of himself as Deadpool with children from the Make-A-Wish foundation
He was very glad to have fans come to visit and clearly, the kids enjoyed it as well
Of course, the internet is full of negative people and Reynolds received this comment
Soon after, though, he delivered an amazing response
Way to go, Reynolds!
Here’s what people thought about the whole ordeal
Visiting the set of an R rated movie and seeing a finished R rated movie can be vastly different things. I might not let my kid see the movie but I likely wouldn't have an issue of them visiting the set. I doubt he's inviting kids to the sets on the days they are filming sex scenes, for example.
This is a nice story about Deadpool in real life but the punchline is not so spectacular as the headline proposes...
I can see why parents are so concerned, but Ryan makes a good point. The kids from a make-a-wish foundation probably already had their parents approve, so really it's no big deal. Deadpool is probably one of the most light-hearted R-movies you can find out there anyway.
Exactly. One major killing scene and one (admittedly, long) sex scene. That's it.
Load More Replies...Damn, burn, Ryan Reynolds doesn't even give two cents, he gives one one-hundredth of that. and isn't it up to the parents whether children under 17 see an R-rated film? It seems they had their parents permission to visit the set, so I don't know what everyone's griping about.
You got a X-rated president we have to endure every damn day which is enough to interrupt any treatment and these people are worried about a R rating?! Please!!!!!
I think these guys did a wonderful thing! If their parents didn't want them to see the movie, they would have kept them home. Ryan, you take the cake! Thank you for what you did for those kids. Makes you top of the line to me.
It might be rated R in some places, but in BC (where the films were shot) it was rated "14A" (anyone 14 and up can watch, anyone under 14 needs to be accompanied by an adult). https://www.consumerprotectionbc.ca/motion-picture-ratings/classification-details/?cpbc_id=403099
i so totally agree! If the wee guys are going through cancer treatment, they are dealing with far worse things every day than this R-rated stuff, and tobe fair and honest, a good laugh, and good story has never killed anyone, but rather the opposite, putting the fighting spirits up, seeing the "funny" side of it (yes, if you are ill or in the middle of this kind of c**p, you do get a bit of a special kind of black morbid humor) The guys complaining about something being R-rated or whatever, should just go mind their own business... Their opinions are not welcome, or needed..
Epic!??! Dear BP, you keep using that word, and others in the same line: hilarious, incredible, etc... I don't think they mean what you think they mean! And I'm big Deadpool fan btw!
Let's also remember that our understanding of this disease is equivalent to a caveman looking for fire. Some of the treatments that patients have to go through are still pretty invasive and terrible. Compared to what these kids have to go through, do we really think that an R rated movie is really that significant and big of a deal in the grand scheme of their lives.
R rating means an adult must accompany anyone under 17 to see the movie. THERE'S NO RATING ON THE NEWS ABOUT REAL LIFE S**T HAPPENING EVERYDAY.
Um, the kids made a wish......obviously they know all about the movie and were allowed by their parents to see the first one. So criticizing the producers and stars of the new movie is so off base I don't even know where to begin! Most people with a heart would do what they can to grant a wish to someone with a dying wish.
Oh FFS! Get a bloody life, the kids that visited the set are making the absolute most of their limited time and all you can do is waste yours by complaining. Just crawl back in your hole and mind your own business.
Nothing was worse than watching someone who was a "sick kid" deal with the truth. She grew up and like a lot of these kids went terminal in adulthood. Once you turn 18 people no longer give a s**t. There's no make a wish, there's no celebrity ward visits or special trips. No charity orgs or hospitals be standing ready to help you but the stuff you need to live. Just f**k you die already. Dead at 27, close to 7 figures in debt. End of the day the monetary value of your life is busy probably a couple grand. I'm a straight up malthiest these days because of it. Let them have all they can while they can. It's not enough to just survive the damn disease into adulthood. Things don't get magically easier for grown ups. Not to mention if you can handle facing death you can handle a few curse words and a hump scene or 2.

It's the kids choice , they choose to go on the set because they have seen and liked the movie. And they are there because they got approval from their parents and from the council of Make a Wish foundation. And maybe this is kinda harsh, but we're talking about kids and cancer. And since most of the battles with cancer are lost, they might not make it to the age where they can legally see an R rated movie. So they should make most of their life, for as long as they can.
Deadwood is in some ps4 Lego games. I don't mind my kid playing them. The rating doesn't either.
This guy is not only cool but smart also "I think they can watch whatever they like" He didn't said kids can see R movies, but movies they likes, so, the kind of movies they already watch. Conclusion, you can show the worst dirty movies to a kids if he has cancer and if he love this kind of movies. Clever Ryan... -_-
Meh, I was watching "worse" things than Deadpool as a kid and I grew up just fine. Guess it's because my parents were the ones to educate my siblings and me, rather than leaving the task to the TV.
Load More Replies...Wow, Ryan must really not think much of this if he only gives ".02 cents"...
Why the downvotes for pointing out how many fractions of a cent Ryan gives?
