Anyone who's ever worked in the food service industry is bound to have met one of these—an extremely rude customer who shouldn't be allowed back into the restaurant. Or to order food ever again! The sad part is, rude customers aren't even that rare.

They're pretty darn common and make the lives of waiters, restaurant employees, and baristas a waking nightmare. Bored Panda wanted to show you some of the things service industry personnel have been through with rude customers, so we collected some of the best posts by servers from all over the net. As you scroll down, upvote the posts that made you feel for these workers, and be sure to leave us a comment with your own experiences serving food in the comment section. Would you like fries with that?

Alexander Kjerulf, the founder and Chief Happiness Officer of ‘Woohoo inc.' told Bored Panda that if your workplace is causing you to forget that you're a human being who's worthy of care and humane treatment, you shouldn't work there anymore. "Quit, and find a better place to work, where they actually care about their staff," he told Bored Panda. "And quit sooner rather than later. The longer you stay, the more they will grind you down until you lose all the energy and optimism you need to move on and find a better job."

Alexander actually made an entire video about quitting a bad job. Meanwhile, you'll find the rest of the insights that he shared with us below. Anyone who's working in the service industry, whether you're a server, a cook, or a manager, should have a read.

Gross - this implied the poor server was being hit on and rejected the advances of the creepy customer. Not only did the server have to be harassed but there is not tip too.

That's exactly what happened to me a few times. I ignored sexual advances, then was called mean homophobic slurs, while waiting tables to put myself through school. Now I stare them down and pull out my pepper spray.;0))

I’d say “and If you were gay, I wouldn’t have spit in your food” I mean who thinks it’s their business to take money out of someone’s pocket (who provided a service to them no less ) just because you don’t like their sexual orientation? People are so shitty.

That’s clearly not the same handwriting, just look at the 0 and the o’s. Obviously fake. The writing isn't even close to the numbers. The O's would have matched the zeros. The period doesn't match the number's period. Someone changed writing styles halfway through to disguise their own writing (sudden random way of writing A's).

Someone simply finding excuses lame as they are, to not pay their waiter/waitress a tip, he/she obviously deserved, just for waiting on them. I can't imagine the treatment meeted out, with glances, hushed words, they may have inadvertently conveyed.

Back when I was a front manager at a restaurant, I decided I wouldn't put up with disrespectful people and made them leave. I always tell them "This waitress works hard everyday and comes in to work to hopefully please customers enough to earn a living. We won't tolerate or placate any disrespectful behaviour, you have one choice that is to apologise to your service staff and be polite, or continue with your selfish entitled tirade and you can leave the angry and bitter person you are. We don't need your 30.00 dollars and I'm sure the rest of the respectful customers will appreciate what I've done here." I found when the employees are happy they work harder, better, and are motivated enough to care about the restaurant.

I'm amazed reading all of the examples submitted so far. It's appalling that these "essential" workers, who are waiting on people by serving them food they have chosen, are being treated like it's payback time to their moms, who never got tipped for serving your sorry little asses, since giving birth to you, bottle or breast, 24/7 service. Pay them a decent wage. Mother's Day is one of the biggest days for the restaurant business. It's like going to church only on the big days. Because it looks good. The crappy treatment of those who serve you because that's their job and you feel that's what they are supposed to do for you, no matter how rudely and shitty you act is just wrong. Next time you go out to eat, your dinner, leftover whatever will be waiting in the microwave. Get it your damn self. And turn the dishwasher on after you add your dishes from dinner and any left all over the place. God Couldn't Be Everwhere, So He Made Mothers". They just went on strike. You're on your own.

This is part of why the tipping system is unfair. Not every racist or homophobic customer is so open about it, and at the end of the day, servers' take home pay is affected by discrimination.

Some of these I just absolutely don't believe. There was a Tennessee man who was accused of writing a racial slur on a restaurant receipt. The waitress went straight to social media. People donated thousands of dollars to her, while the customer got death threats from around the world. The case got a lot of attention. The man hired a forensic, hand writing analyst who determined he didn't write the racial slur. He sued the waitress and the restaurant for $1milliion. Then there was the gay man who bought a cake from Whole Foods. He claimed an employee wrote a gay slur on it, but security footage proved he left the store with a blank cake.

Who decided what is "sin"? Oh yeah, self righteous, sanctimonious, power hungry men. It takes a real hypocritical, ignorant, a**hole to condemn people for actually loving another human being. There's no word bad enough for those hateful people. Go be a nasty, homophobic, disgusting person somewhere else.

Alexander was upfront that employees should expect and demand support from their managers. "I know that it's common for restaurants to treat their customers like kings and their employees [badly], but that doesn't mean it's OK," he said.

"99% of people are nice, but the occasional rude client is unavoidable," Alexander from 'Woohoo inc.' said that there's no avoiding rudeness in the long run. "You can learn tricks to deal with them, and that's great, but no one should have to put up with mistreatment."

For Alexander, working in the service industry doesn't mean that others can walk all over you. "Having a service job does not mean that other people get to demean you or belittle you and managers must be willing to step in and protect employees' dignity and mental health."

I'll be frank. The US tipping system… is a bit weird. It's on the same plane of existence as not posting the full price of a meal or a product with the tax included. However weird forced tipping might be (and how it essentially makes customers, not the employers, pay a large chunk of the workers' wages), it doesn't change the fact that it's a cultural thing in the States. You just do it.

And if it persists, hand them over to a manager as soon as you can and let them deal with it,” Alexander explained how we should deal with problematic people. It's all about striking a balance between being professional and having a spine.

However, Alexander pointed out that not all customers who behave badly are bad people in and of themselves. There's a bit of nuance there! “It can be a good person having a bad day and that's why they're acting out.”

What's more, Alexander added that rather than thinking that the customer is always right, we should go for something more down-to-earth like “be nice.” Or at least avoiding being rude. Of course, this goes for customers and employees alike! “Whenever I'm a customer anywhere, I always try to be kind and positive to the staff—even when occasionally I have to complain about something. It's literally the least I can do.”
