Mexican Enterprise Presents Simple, But Genius ‘Sand Blinds’
From now on you’ll be able to announce that the sands of time are running out without sounding too dramatic. And that is thanks to Mexican architecture company Álvaro Ramírez + Arquitectos. The people behind the idea of this creation might be fans of board games, Alias, in particular, since the idea of his design is based on an hourglass. Despite how closer-to-nature it looks and all the meditational vibes it creates, the final result was questioned by observant internet users. Check it out, would you want to have something like it in your place?
Behold, the window that functions just like an hourglass

Share on FacebookToo bad this can not work on an outside wall in a cold climate. I love the idea.
So, when you flip the window, all the bird poop that was outside will be on the inside....... great.
Yeah, so NOW you can finally clean it without risking breaking your neck on a ladder. I see it as a positive.

Friction. Sand. Maybe another kind of material (like plastic) would be less abrasive and keep the window without scratches from inside.
Nice.. So, the first time you turn this thing, all the dust, smog, dirt particles you have on your outside glass, will be in your home.
Hi Neringa, could you please provide me with the contacts for the manufacturers of this fine product. My company would like to sell it.
This would be great as an inside window for an office. Having one on the exterior of a home would just create numerous issues every time you needed some privacy....you would have to flip it. Bad weather flip it, to hot out need shade flip it and all the while letting in bugs, flying insects and the elements.
I'm not sure but it might be that the glass panes are very close together and the frame is hollow, so when turned, the sand comes out of the frame and is spread out through the glass.
Sure, but lots of things are pointless or just gimmicks. More relevantly, lots of really great technologies *started out* as pointless. There's nothing wrong with letting creative people play. :)
