Robber Robs Woman At ATM, But After Seeing Her Bank Balance, Returns All The Money With A Huge Smile

A guilty conscience is hard to live with. And, paradoxically, even thieves avoid it. Recently, surveillance cameras caught a man robbing a woman in China at the ATM and then immediately after felt very sorry. Shared by China Global Television Network (CGTN), the CCTV footage shows the man, armed with a knife, sneak up on the woman as she is using a remote cash point to take out some bills.

After a short exchange that leaves the woman completely terrified, she hands over all of her money, which was reported to be 2,500 yuan (around $372).

However, his greed kicks in and he demands that she show him her bank balance. Probably thinking about the blade of his knife, the woman obliges. They turn towards the ATM machine and after she brings up the number on the screen, it appears to change the guy’s mind. According to reports, it was a big fat zero.

The robber smiles and, just like that, returns the poor woman her money. The CCTV from outside ICBC bank where the ordeal took place then captures him walking off, without the money. The woman is left baffled, trying to process what just happened.

Reportedly, the incident occurred in Heyuan City, South China. CGNT states that even though the guy didn’t actually keep the cash, the threats he made and the knife he held were very real. He later was detained by the police. People on the internet have already nicknamed him the modern day Robin Hood, a crook who only steals from the rich.

It must be nice going through life oblivious to the fear that you could be raped or abducted or murdered going about your business, taking daily “common sense” precautions against it. You don’t have to be a mind reader to know that this will flash through the mind of any woman when threatened by a creeping man at knifepoint, just female apparently.

I must'e missed the part where it said she was afraid she'd be abducted and raped. That's like when people are worried their kids will be abducted because there's a murderer on the loose. Those are very separate things with separate motivations.

He steals from the rich to give to the poor, this guy was probably a "desperate times call for desperate measures" kinda person, but happened to run into a fellow desperate person. Honestly, I'm glad he didn't get away with it, even though he didn't steal. Hope the punishment was not too harsh, though, and hope he understood he should never do this again, and found a more creative way to help himself.
Yeah, it doesn't really count when you TRY to steal from anyone and then STOP when you find out that they're poor. Not to mention he was probably going to keep the money and not share it among peers.
You never know. He might need the money to support family or something. It happens sometimes

It's just too hard to "look on the bright side" in any situation in life, isn't it? What a miserable and boring old tosser you are. Really. LOL
Had my identity stolen once. Nothing ever happened though because my credit was so bad they couldn't do anything with it.
These had some sense of guilt probably, immagine if you had enabled to go minus and they'd create life long debts for you.
They can’t really create more debts if the score is very low because nobody will give them any type of line of credit.
I did that to myself with education and divorce. Maybe they saw that
