If you spend your days surfing the never-ending Instagram feed, you might've already heard of a freelance illustrator called Isabelle Staub, who rocked the platform with her fresh reimaginings of classic Disney Princesses. What you might not know, though, is that this series also helped the artist to get out of a serious creative block.

“I’ve always loved Disney since I was a child, so I decided to paint the princesses in my own art style for fun,” Isabelle told DesignTaxi. And she really got into it, spending from 8 to 12 hours recreate each image. Almost the whole process is done in the Corel Painter, with only a few last touches done with Photoshop.

"I’m definitely ready to start a new series! Someone requested villains, which I think would be really cool. But I might give the whole Disney theme a rest for a while.”

Right now she's in the first stages of illustrating her own children's book, so keep refreshing her Instagram and Etsy pages for more awesome works.

The first one doesn't have make up and lip surgery, but the second one looks cool too :D

I am the artist who did these- I never once said I wanted these to look realistic. I just painted the princesses in my own art style for fun! It's not that serious.

The hair is really neat. I think that they could have thinned out the face more to look like her though. Still very cool!

They do look realistic in some ways, but either way they are all way better than I can draw or color! These all look great!

Beautiful rendering. But she does look much more emotional rather than playful.

I don't get it. The eyes still take up half the head and now it looks like they're wearing mascara and eyeliner on the giant moons. The lips look like extreme lip enhancement x33. It's almost as if the face were half lips and half eyes, like women who go through fifty (or so) surgeries to look more like a Barbie Doll. Please keep these away from little girls. They have enough Princess-induced body image issues, or soon will, to contend with.

Why the sleeping beauty so sad. She should be joyfully thinking of something in her mind.

These are all so s**t. Interpreted? More realistic? Not in my opinion. All they have done is enlarge the lips and make them look like tarts

But they all take a lot of talent to draw. You shouldn't ever call an artist's work "s**t"

They're even less realistic than the original ones. Their features are basically the same, while Disney's princess usually look a bit different from each other: at least, they were drawn different in different decades. Then, they all have big shiny lips, an absent look in their eyes, smaller noses than the originals (in case of not - caucasian princesses). The "model" seems to be a soft-core comic. They look a bit lifeless and I must say I don't like them.
