This Japanese Artist’s Pencil Drawings Are So Realistic, People Can’t Believe They’re Not Photographs
It may not shock you that incredible things can be done with just pencils and paper, but the breathtakingly realistic drawings of 22-year-old Japanese artist Kohei Ohmori are bound to leave you amazed.
The Okayama-based prodigy spends more than 200 hours on each pencil drawing, and his attention to detail is strikingly evident. Thanks to carefully-placed shading, ultra-thin lines, and a remarkably steady hand, Ohmori’s black and white drawings look as if they’re going to jump right off the page. They’re so immaculate, in fact, that his Twitter audience is calling him a ‘mad genius’ and ‘insane’ over the amount of dedication he puts into his realistic artworks. His most recent effort, which has yet to be completed, depicts a shiny nut and bolt, while his ‘signature piece’ is considered to be a stunningly detailed drawing of British model Sophia Blackbrough.

How do those pencils not break as soon as they hit the paper? He must have extreme control.
No offense, and hate to be all PC, but this is an amazing artist. Of Japanese origin seems irrelevant to the incredible talent.
The pencils are so thin, he has so much talent. I cant even draw a person well...
This kind of "art" is just boring. And the fact people admire this things makes me feel so so sad its.just.a.copy.of.a.photo no real point of view no real purpose just hours and patience

It's so unfortunate that some people have faked works like this (when overlayed on the source material they match 100% perfect, pixel for pixel including soft-focus areas) so it makes it really hard to tell who is a cheating scumbag, and who has incredible talent (and patience).

*referencing Even the best professionals can't remember every single detail of what they're drawing straight from memory. With types of art that's unusual, surreal, etc. then sure, the artist may have to rely on memory/how they're seeing it in their mind, but the more detailed something gets, the more likely they'll need to reference something to improve accuracy. *sigh* I guess there'll always be people who are never satisfied. 'You can be the sweetest peach, but not everyone likes peaches.'
