Japanese Artist Makes Realistic 3D Cat Portraits Out Of Felted Wool, And The Result Is Too Purrfect

Needle felting is a fun and exciting hobby if you have a knack for handcrafts. With some skill and patience, a various range of things can be created by felting – from accessories to clothing; there’s no limit to it. A Japanese artist called Wakuneco chose to make incredible hyper-realistic and stunningly beautiful cat portraits from the basic natural wool used in needle felt.

The artist uses wool of various colors and creates 3D pet portraits using needle felting techniques. On her Instagram, the artist has shared that it’s a very long and delicate work, and it takes her about a month to complete one portrait, but the resulting needle felt animals pays the effort fully. Wakuneco uses pictures of real cats to create portraits as realistic as possible.

Take a look at some of her works below, and maybe you’ll be inspired to take up the hobby of felting animals, too!
