A Real-Life Mermaid Who Swims With Sharks Using Her Fish Tail And Holds Breath For 2 Minutes
In honor of our charity of the month, The Sea Shepherd Nature Conservation Society, I decided to reach out to Hannah Mermaid and learn a little bit more about her and her ocean advocacy.
Hannah, a real-life mermaid, takes beautiful photos in the ocean with many different ocean animals but mostly whales, dolphins, sharks, and manta rays in the act of advocacy for their plight.
The mermaid, in particular as a character, represents a unique bridge between the human and ocean world. Hannah is hoping to inspire a connection back to nature with her underwater photography, and offer a voice to communicate the environmental issues that face us in regards to ocean health.

If we mess it up with water pollution, overfishing, and killing these incredible species that hold the knowledge and the wisdom of the ocean, it’s only a matter of years before the rest of civilization crumbles. At first I was like "so she dresses up as a half fish and swims with sharks?!?!!?" and then I was like "oooh whale sharks okay" and now I'm like, "cool message wish I could do that".
More than just whale sharks. There's some tiger and black tip sharks in that video. Likewise a still shot of her with a tiger shark in the pics line up.

Unfortunately, she’s not the first one to accomplish. This, there was a girl in 1988 who started doing this in the Florida islands does a child, but yet she goes around and saying she was the first even though she was in contact with other Mermaid Performers. OMG I can't even put my head underwater never mind doing what she's doing...! How can anyone be that comfortable underwater with no breathing apparatus? And aren't those sharks dangerous?? She may not have a tail on land but she really is a mermaid under the water.
