Rare Time Paradox Makes These Twins Both Older Than Each Other
On an early Sunday morning, Emily and Seth Peterson have welcomed two twin boys into their family, Samuel and Ronan. However, what’s insteresting is that although Samuel was born first, according to their birth certificates, Ronan is actually older… Now that’s confusing.
Apparently, it’s all because of the forever tricky Daylight Savings Time. Samuel was born at 1:39 AM on Sunday, November 6th, while Ronan took 31 minutes longer. Now the shift of Daylight Savings Time happens at 2 AM, so instead of 2:10 AM, Ronan’s official time of birth turned into 1:10 AM, making both of the babies older than each other!
As if brothers wouldn’t have enough to argue about already…

Riddle of the day: Samuel was born first, but his twin brother Ronan is older. How is that possible?
The facebook post reads:
Answer: Samuel was born at 1:39 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6 and by the time Ronan was born 31 minutes later, #DaylightSavingsTime had ended for the year and the time fell back by an hour, making Ronan’s official time of birth 1:10 a.m. Samuel and Ronan were born at Cape Cod Hospital to parents Emily and Seth Peterson of West Barnstable.
“I said earlier that night that they were either going to be born on two different days or the time change was going to come into play,” said Seth, who is trooper with the Massachusetts State Police. Cape Cod Hospital Maternity nurse, Deb Totten, said it was the first time she has ever seen this happen in more than 40 years of nursing!

Share on FacebookWell... no. No matter how you slice it, one child was born 30 minutes earlier than the other as we count and perceive time. Daylight savings doesn't change that physically or legally. Either way, time as we observe it is not "real" or accurate and for there to be an actual time paradox - well, we just don't have the technology to do that. Cute try but not only is it misinformed, it makes those who don't understand the difference even less informed.
I love the way you talk reality to me. Keep it up.
Load More Replies...Haha, did anyone else notice that they put an "A" on one of the babies heads and a "B" on the others? Twin A and Twin B!
Lol. They'll spend their lifetimes growing up & growing old together laughing at the never-ending debate of which is older twin.
What a load of rubbish. The child that came out first is the oldest. Not relevant of the time zones changing. Still born approx 30 minsFirst
I'm considered older than my cousin because I was born at 12:28 am on the 11th on the East Coast and He was born at 9:28 pm on the 10th in California....Time zones are a b***h.
I wonder what's going to happen in the future... "I'm the oldest twin" "No! I am!" "Only by an hour!"
Can you imagine a inheritance issue (about who's the eldest) being caused by this? First thing that popped into my mind... because it's not like laws and legal decisions (and their reversals) haven't hinged on the interpretations of minutia like this.
Load More Replies...Actually, they're exactly as old as one another - their lives both started at the exact same moment, when the zygote split into two embryos in their mother's womb. It was exactly then that they became two people - they are as old as one another.
Thank goodness we don't have daylight savings here. First born is, and always will be, elder of two.
Has anyone noticed that this article says the same thing 3 or 4 times. It's like someone used copy and paste a few too many times. I noticed this on several articles tonight.
Actually historically and in most countries it has always been assumed that the second twin to be born is the oldest (I guess the logic was something like first in, second out), so this just makes it official.
Nonsense, they are not exactly the same age ... that vagina couldn't handle 2 babies in the same time.
