There are days when it feels like the world has turned its back on you. Whether it's Monday blues blasting on autoplay every day, or things falling out of your hands so that it seems like gravity has taken its hold on you, everyone needs a little cheering up now and then.

Luckily, there’s one antidote to it all, and it should be prescribed by doctors if it isn’t yet. Cuteness overload is a phenomenon caused by cute little animals who make the coldest hearts melt and bring an overall sense of happiness.

If you’re not an owner to a pup like that, don’t worry, there’s a whole corner of Reddit devoted to “cute little animols such as puppers, cates and turtols.” Created back in 2015, the "Rare Puppers" community is home to a whopping 4M “shoobscribers,” making it Reddit’s powerhouse of content.

This post is dedicated to puppers exclusively, so we selected some of the cutest, funniest and most heartwarming pics for you to enjoy.

“No matter how old your dog is, he always stays a little puppy for you,” Daryna Kalnichenko, the pet behavior expert at Petcube Online Vet told Bored Panda in an interview. “Still, raising puppies is night and day from raising grown-up dogs,” she added.

First off, raising a pup requires a lot of time, energy, and attention. “It’s literally four-legged infants. The biggest difference is probably not having constant supervision. Puppies lack training, attention span, and mental capacity compared to adult dogs.”

Daryna said that that’s why you need to constantly check to make sure if a puppy peed in the corner, chewed your new shoes, or got stuck in the furniture. “On the other hand, when you have a grown-up dog who has its own characteristics and behavior, it’s sometimes hard to change it,” the pet behavior expert added.

Before becoming a puppy owner you should remember that the first months of life with a pup are time-consuming. Daryna argues that you have to start from scratch and do potty training, establish their routine, and work on separation anxiety and overall training.

“Another challenge is healthcare,” she said. Daryna’s advice is “to ask around to find a local vet and ER. Another great option is a 24/7 online vet — an on-demand team of licensed veterinarians ready to answer newbie questions. Don’t forget to vaccinate, deworm, do parasite control, desex and microchip a new pooch.”

Moreover, little puppies often get into trouble when they explore a whole new world around them. “Starting with falling over the stairs and ending up eating their own shits. It’s a good idea to have an emergency fund to cover unexpected veterinary expenses,” Daryna explained.

Meanwhile, each breed has different maintenance requirements. Daryna reminds future puppy owners that it’s a must to learn as much as possible about the particular breed you like. “Make sure it fits your lifestyle, then you won’t consider bringing a new family member ‘a huge mistake,’” she said.

“Large breed dogs like Bernese or Saint Bernard need special puppy food for healthy bones and joints. Pugs, Poms, and Chihuahuas need watching for signs of low blood sugar.”

Also, some breeds require extra care about their coat. “Poodles and Havanese have to get used to brushing from an early age,” Daryna explained.

Meanwhile, a dog is considered to be a grown-up when it’s between one or two years. “Your pooch starts to be more relaxed and gets used to living in a family, and overall everything just calms down. You just know it when the dog is mature. It starts listening to you, behaving well with other dogs, and responding to the training,” Daryna explained.

Why is he in a cage in the house? Is this what some people call a crate? Just wondering because if I am in the house my dogs a free to roam.

For those criticizing the crate: our dog came to us accustomed to being crated & was anxious being rehomed. We folded & got him a crate on day 2. He stopped wandering about crying at night & has now, sometime later, migrated to the couch but still goes into his crate if there are a lot of guests & he is stressed. Sometimes you have to work with what you’re given.

Some of the comments here are asinine and show a complete lack of understanding of normal canine behavior. Crates and confinement are good and necessary for the vast majority of puppies and adolescent dogs in the vast majority of situations, and the vast majority of adult dogs continue to enjoy their crates well into their golden years. It absolutely encourages proper bathroom habits, prevents inappropriate chewing and destructive behaviors when a responsible human can't keep an eye on the pup, aids in early self control skills, provides a safe and private space to retreat to, and perhaps most importantly, ensures that a dog doesn't absolutely lose its mind should it ever need to be confined in an emergency situation, or even just for spaying/neutering. Also, it is illegal in most states to have a dog loose in a vehicle, and many states require the dog to be crated in a moving vehicle for safety reasons. Dogs don't live in crates.

My pit bull loved his crate, it was just his, his own space. He had a habit of jumping up on people so I would say crate and he'd go in, and I didn't have to shut the door, he'd stay until I would say come over once we were seated, but just going to his crate calmed him. He was very intelligent and I taught him so many things, but couldn't get him to stop jumping up.

My MoMo always put himself to bed at night in his crate. Door was left open, but he stayed there all night. My little Peanut sleeps in his small bed with me on my bed. If I stay up too late for his comfort, he goes to my room & puts himself to bed.

I thought the crate seemed a bit mean when I first saw it, but my dog absolutely loves his crate and gets all excited when we bring it into the kitchen. (he isn't housetrained yet so he has to stay in the kitchen, and there's not enough space if it's there all day.)

Crates are usually seen as the dog's bedroom, a private spot where they can de-stress and hide when anxious. The doors aren't usually shut. So you get a kid a bedroom, just like you get a dog a crate.

Crating is not a bad thing. He's not being neglected or abused in anyway. Some dogs need the crate and some don't. What works for some may not work for all. Now IF someone is using crating in a negative way - ie leaving their dog in it all the time and not caring for their dog - than that's not legitimate crate training.. that's abuse.
