Usually, when you read a history article or story, it's mostly just dry facts and your imagination. But an amazing photo gives something a bit different. It shows you how it all actually looked, letting you understand the historical moment more intimately. Whether it would be a historical landmark, a famous person or random old pictures of the past - they all have fascinating stories behind them, and we're just about to show you.

The brave photojournalists that took these interesting pictures saw the morbidity of wars, documented the creation of an atomic bomb and shot stills of most magnificent constructions being built. You might not be aware that the city of Tel-Aviv used to be just plain dunes or how someone looks after literally falling from space. Keep on scrolling to take a look at Bored Panda's list of rare historical photos that might shine a new light on how you saw these crucial moments.

Wondering how historical photos taken in black and white would look if they were restored in color? Check out this article.

As per number 5 above, it shows how monumentally stupid political ideology is. In other words, it's not religion necessarily that's stupid, just plain old human beings.

Nothing to do with religion. It was all about the Iron Curtain and the Soviet Union annexing countries around it.

My mother was born, and raised in the west side of Berlin at that time, she suffered a lot of hunger and had problems with her mom because her mom had no money and was separated with her husband when she was still pregnant. my mother had 2 little sisters to take care for and her mom didn't have the time to do so. so she needed to do it for her and if she didn't, she'd get a ass whooping. my mom is now happily married with her husband in the netherlands (where I live) and has two kids, including me. never separated and no longer problems with her mother. My mother is very brave because she actually escaped from the west side but in a very smart way where she could not be caught. (married a man that lived in the eastern side and immediately separated and moved to another place.)

Thank god this is on the west side of Berlin because if the parents on the east side would have shown their children to west Berlin Grandparents the child and her/his parents would have been shot. I grew up during the Iron Curtain and every day you heard of people and animals killed for even coming close to the curtain. During this period in time you could not even write a letter back and forth because everything was censored (blacked out) and everything in a letter written in East Germany was grounds for Treason. My Teacher showed us a letter he received from his Mother in East Germany where up to 80% was blacked out. Things like "I have been ill" etc etc.

Very sad. Shows how dumb politicians are and why we should never allow them to run us at all. We should be the ones running countries not a bunch of stupid rich politicians. The thing I noticed when coming to Europe for a holiday, is some European countries next to each other have blocked easy travel access which made me quite angry. Example, Budapest and Croatia you can't travel by train or plane, how stupid is that! Just plain dumb 'hate' and dividing rubbish. These politicians in those countries need to get over themselves. They are affecting everyone around the world who want to see countries from next to each other, not fair!

People didn't shoot each other over the Berlin Wall, it was a blockade not a war zone. I think you need to revise your history. Also if this photo is 1961 the wall was only just started - in fact you can see it's makeshift. So people wouldn't have thought it was permanent or a threat to them.
