Someone who got voted down mentioned "China Girl". If you pay attention to the lyrics, you will understand that it's about the subjugation and annihilation of Asian cultures by Europeans. Similarly, if you listen to the lyris of "Fashion" carefully, you can see it's about political and social leanings. In particular, it's about how the higher status people copy the style and culture of lower status people despite decrying it as inferior. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/01/20/how-david-bowies-china-girl-used-racism-to-fight-racism/?utm_term=.17ae4ff2b7c7

The US national anthem's melody is based on an English song, BTW. (Another fun fact: the melody of "My Country Tis of Thee" is the same as "God Save the Queen" which is taken from a Prussian song, "Heil dir im Siegerkranz", 'coincidentally' the British monarchy is an extension of various German monarchies. So WWI was nothing more than a family feud, using millions of people as pawns.)

The divers were using an underwater communication system and the captive male beluga imitated their order to get out of the water and the diver surfaced thinking it was real. He had learned to imitate the patterns and frequency's of human speech, after several years he stopped doing it. Belugas rock :) they also shout like children in the wild, and the bump on their head is used for echolocation and scientifically called its "Melon"

This is a good one. And nowadays, for people who can only wear a shoe on one foot, there are groups/stores who sell single shoes, while only able to wear for example the left shoe. They let others buy the right shoe and vice versa. At least I know this is a (small though) thing in my country.

Horrible feeling o_o There are also "parasitic thoughts" that are totally scary. Sometimes. I have horrific vision of me hurting my children (stab or push them). It twist my stomach and I feel so bad. I've thaught that I was a really bad & mad mother, then I did some researches for this kind of phenomenon and it seems that it's 'normal' and 'frequent' O_O #humanbrainisab*tch

Edgar Allan Poe called it the "The Imp of the Perverse". I thought I was crazy for having those thoughts until I came across this and saw that I was not alone! And that's when I understood that sharing your problems with your loved ones was better than keeping them all for yourself. Two years ago I had a burn out after working three weeks non stop (I work from home, alone). It was the scariest sh*t I've ever experienced and it almost ruined my life. I didn't hesitate and talked about it a lot, with my boyfriend (who has been amazingly supportive), my parents, my friends, without any shame. I sought help and now I feel so, so much better. So if you are lost, if you feel things you don't understand, please share it with the people you trust the most, let them help you, there's always a solution <3

The call of the void has nothing to do with problems or suicidality. It's not a desire to actually kill yourself or even to jump/swerve into traffic.

As a kid if out somewhere dark at night with no one around I would look up at the stars so nothing else was visible in the periphery of my vision and then jump up. Creates the same feeling.

I'm not sure if this fact is true... I know for sure that the original name for this phenomenon is "angst" as in anxiety, described by Soren Kierkegaard in 1844. Just sayin...

djinnjeannie

The phenomenon was describe by all sorts of people all over the planet long before Kierkegaard and this post says nothing about those who first used the term call of the void being the first to describe the phenomenon.
