Someone Online Wondered: “What’s A Random Fact You Think Is Worth Sharing?“, And 30 Users Delivered
Every person wants to know everything there is to our existence. Small things, big things – it doesn't matter as long as we constantly feed our minds with bits of information. Besides, knowing stuff is good even if you understand that you'd probably never need that knowledge. Just think about it, curiosity is an essential part of our everyday life, all that social media, magazines, books, TV shows – we're always learning, yet we're never fully satisfied.
We want to know exactly how the universe was formed; we want to know if we'll be stuck in traffic on the way back home tomorrow and whether that new movie truly is as great as people say it is. Our brain constantly processes things, and sometimes all you need is to read about some facts to have a good night's sleep.
A member of one of Reddit's online communities asked fellow Redditors to share a few random facts that folks absolutely needed to know. The post received over 7K upvotes and 5.1K comments, revealing things about everything and anything.

That the patent for the fire hydrant was lost in a fire
Fun Fact: There’s a single fire hydrant in San Francisco that’s painted gold because it was the one that put out the last of the fire from the 1906 earthquake.
Elizabeth II has been Queen of England for 70 years. Only 9% of the world's population is older than 65. This means that only about 1 out of 12 people in the world today have lived in a world where she was not the queen.
For a while, King Bhumiphon of Thailand was in the forefront...but then he died
The longest officially verified reigning Monarch ever was Louis XIV of France, at 72 years, 110 days. Which means that Elizabeth only has to reign for 2 and a half more years to beat this record. Which is entirely possible given her mother lived to over 100. Though technically - Louis had a regent for a number of years, so technically Elizabeth has continuously reigned for a longer period of time as she has never had a regent iirc.
Load More Replies...My dad is one out of 12, my mom isn't. My grandmother is also 1/12, she just turned 99. So she is slightly younger than Betty White was and older than Queen Elizabeth II. She is lady of steel who was a refugee, served in war as civil defence worker, had her own business among other things and in her later years she learned to use internet and smartphone. She is determined to make it to 100.
That’s great stuff! Fingers crossed on making it to 100!
Load More Replies...Well I'm in the 9 %, I remember her dad dying. And watching her Coronation!
Trophy Husband...to us she is the Queen and to the rest of the world
"Only about". I'll have to remember that, when asked for an amount or figure... How many children do you have? Only about 1. How many grams does this recipe need? Only about 1. Etc. Etc. Etc....
She was still a mere princess when I was born so she hasn't quite been Queen-Empress for my whole life, but close enough. And she outlasted Atari. Try that yourself sometime.

She's only 2 years and 100 and something days away from being the longest reigning monarch in human history. She just needs to hang on in there to beat Louis XIV of France.
rando ?? but do you think those medals are held on by magnets or does she really stick pins thru those dresses?
I love this question. I would think magnets unless she has a secret pacemaker.
Load More Replies...This is poorly worded... I currently live in a world where she isn't "the queen." "A queen" perhaps, but not "the queen." Although recent political events do make me wonder if democracy is the best system. We need to model all governments based on the United Federation Of Planets!
I remember when she became Queen, My Dad got our first TV so we could watch the Coronation
As you can see, by now she's not just the Queen of England. She's The Queen. Take that, other queens. It was a long path from the beginning: Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her other realms and territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith
I used to think that would be fairer but after seeing the horrors that others have voted as their head of state I've changed my mind
Load More Replies...Betty was UNTOUCHABLE!!! Quite possibly the most darling human ever!!

A platypus makes venom. One of several interesting things about them.
When a person receives a kidney transplant they don’t take out the old kidneys, they just shove em to the side and leave em in there.
No. They do not shove them to the side. That's ludicrous. The two original kidneys remain in place and will ultimately shrink and become completely non-functionable.. The new transplanted kidney is placed, typically, in the lower right abdomen which is then connected to the bladder. There will always be a small pooched out area visible where the new kidney resides. My son is a transplant recipient. We are forever grateful for his anonymous donor who left this world.
