Internet Holds Its Breath As Raccoon Climbs A Skyscraper, And It Gets Scarier And Scarier With Every Pic
A daring raccoon has captured the imagination of the nation and become an internet sensation after a perilous climb up the side of a skyscraper in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Beginning on a tuesday morning, the adventourous animal began it’s slow ascent as people began to worry about its safety. What if it gets tired? Loses its grip and plummets to earth? The hashtag #mprraccoon began to spread, and the internet held its collective breath as the raccoon stopped for some time on a ledge near the top. The windows were not able to be opened, and people feared that the poor little fella was exhausted.
Not so. Our hero was just taking a breather and grooming himself for the big moment when he arrived at the top.
The city’s safety department set live traps on the roof, with plenty of food for the intrepid climber, who is sure to be hungry after his journey. The raccoon arrived on the roof at around 03.00 am, and it is as yet unclear whether they have managed to catch him so he can be safely returned to ground level. The world awaits.
The raccoon has inspired a host of artworks, memes and even has its own Twitter profile with thousands of followers. Perhaps our new hero can even go some way to giving ‘trash pandas,’ as they are sometimes called, a better image!

While others gathered to show support for the racoon
It seems that all of Twitter were invested in his fate
Even the writer and director of “Guardians Of The Galaxy” said he’d donate $1,000 to charity for the rescue of the raccoon
Later on, the fire department paid him a visit
The windows were unable to be opened however, so the only option was to wait and see if the raccoon reached the top
He seemed to be okay with it though
And decided to nap some more
Such a cutie, posing like a pro
At night the real drama began

He made it! Just saw a report on CNN that he got into one of the traps setup on the roof and was captured safe. Whew!!!! That is one brave or maybe insane racoon. Glad he is safe.

The moment I saw the first photo on the main list my heart was in my mouth. I'm so pleased to hear that he's been picked up at the top. I hope that his trap was baited with something especially yummy to reward him for such a daring ascent!
Poor thing, there isn't a tree in sight for him to retreat to, so a building was the only option. I couldn't watch if I were there!
If only people put as much effort in protecting the environment and restoring human rights as they put into freaking out about this admittedly awesome raccoon.

This fellow deserves a happy life after such a feat - I hope that he's not turfed somewhere where he's going to have to face new risks and challenges like the one he's just conquered.
