Animal Rescuers Spend 10 Minutes Chasing After 2 Raccoons Who Broke Into A Bank
Raccoons have once again shown the world that it’s not just a funny coincidence that they wear natural criminal masks on their adorable little faces.
Apparently, a few days ago, a couple of these trash pandas were caught inside a closed Redwood city bank located in California. These fluffy bandits were spotted by a man who was using the bank’s ATM. Luckily, the team of Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA were able to come to the rescue.

“It’s not every day an animal organization gets called to deal with a bank break-in, but since the bank robbers were masked bandits of the wildlife kind, we were indeed the appropriate responders,” Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA’s Communications Manager named Buffy Martin Tarbox said in a press release. “The bank managers let our rescue staff into the bank, and after about ten minutes of chasing the raccoons around the bank, we were finally able to safely shoo them outside. They apparently didn’t want to leave the bank.”

“There were muddy pawprints on a tree outside the bank, so we suspect the raccoons climbed the tree to the roof of the bank, and then somehow managed to crawl into the air ducts and fell through the ceiling tiles onto the floor of the bank,” Buffy Martin Tarbox added. “There were several broken ceiling tiles, and the masked bandits knocked papers around and even a computer over.”

It is so hilarious for me to imagine a horde of people chasing around 2 raccoons for 10 minutes xD. The fact that the Humane Society and the SPCA were there makes me think that the raccoons were especially wily and the Humane Society had to call for backup. Also imagining that the raccoons actually were planning the bank heist for months before getting foiled by atm man hahaha
I routinely feed a roving band of bandits at my work 20201005_2...72262c.jpg
They look fat. Are raccoons also fattening up for the coming winter? European here, I know very little about raccoons.
They have a body shape thst makes them look fat, so even a very underfed one looks chunky like this. It's visually misleading. They do try to fatten up for winter like most other mammals, and the successful ones resemble fluffy beach balls. They're smart, agile, can run up trees, and easy to befriend if you feed them. I had one coming in and taking a nap on the sofa, likely because he saw me lying on it so figured that wss the idea of sofas.
@monika Soffronow in my part of Canada, Raccoons dont hibernate. My part of Canada gets MORE rain than Brittan, and with the wettest location in North America, not far from my home..
Well, they are already wearing masks, so a career as a bank robber is a no brainer!
