American Patriotism can be very arrogant and blind at times.

She's got it partly right. If you are displaying a MIA or other flag, that flagpole should be shorter. Or, if you have only one flag pole, the American flag should be first. However, having multiple flags, on their own flagpoles, of several countries, they should all be equal. The only exception is in the Capitol. People should research before they spout off.

It was most likely ignorance, not arrogance. KrisF gave a perfectly good explanation but some people are so anti-USA they either didn't even read the comment completely or just don't care and downvoted it regardless of the content.

I don't think this was arrogance, more mixing up the rules. We do have a code that says other flags should be lower than the American flag, but it applies to state/city flags. Edit, since everyone seems to be assuming I don't think the comment was stupid (it was)- in the US, you typically have a hierarchy that goes country flag, state flag, city flag, etc. And since usually the only country flag is the US flag, I have heard people just say that the important part to remember is US flag has to be the highest (keep in mind that most places you are only told about it in elementary school). So my point was that the commentator was being an idiot more than being arrogant.

The US flag should be flown at the same height as any allied flag. I assume the same would hold for neutral countries, as well as any nation we are not at war with--and in those circumstances, I can't see why we'd fly their flag at all.

That is actually how the US works as well. It was an ignorant comment taken to the extreme by social media. Good thing that hardly ever happens. /s

Nope. US flag code says other nation's flags should be flown at same level, but US flag should take place of prominence at flag's own right (viewer's left). State, local, and society flags should be flown lower.
