Exactly! I fully believe that a higher power (God) created humans TO EVOLVE. Is that such a hard notion to embrace? God (or whatever you choose to call this higher being/power) kicked us off to watch us grow and evolve (way more than just 2000 years ago).

It's about reaching out the type od religious minds who don't believe in science, to get them to believe in science. I know, stubborness will always be stubborn, but it doesn't need to be this way. It's to let that kind of religious people know that, for example, just because the bible says the world was made in 6 days (7th was for resting), that doesn't mean a God's day is 24 hours, because, as Einstein proved, time is relative.

It was a rhetorical question. One that shows you can still be both religious AND scientific. Because science is about experiments, theories and facts, but the point of religion is belief, which is, as McSandybutt said indeed, not provable/disprovable, which makes it flexible to adjust to modern standards. Now, too bad religious communities tend to be conservative in general, not seeing this potential. But then the world gets to see a liberal and humorous religious leader/servant every here and there.

Exactly Andres. The problem is that it just sidesteps science so you can shove God into it to make the religious feel better. Evolution's randomness doesn't even make sense with a God because of how inefficient it is compared to something like "creating things with all the good genetic material".

I thought the Catholic Church decided it supports evolution as a mechanism now. Am I making that up? I feel like I heard either the current pope or the last guy changed the rules. Does the pope get to decide how the doctrine is interpreted? I have so many questions.

Catholics actually believe in evolution. Jean-Baptiste Lamarck who was a pioneer in the science was a Jesuit-educated scientist and naturalist. Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics, was an Augustinian friar. The church stand on the matter is more of a theistic evolution but we are free to either believe it or not. Most catholic schools (I went to one) all teach evolution with no problem.

Thank you! It really doesn't matter whether you believe in god or what you call your deity. It's all just about logic and creativity. Even according to Christianity, knowledge is one of the seven gifts from the Holy Spirit, so that makes science a gift from God too, if we want it to be this way.

Actually, the Bible does not say that. It took him only one day but he only created two humans. Right now I can't come up with a religion that is not creational because that's kind of the point of it. Explaining how our world, we and everything came around without knowing about the big bang....

Well, but like, No??? Idk if you are referring to Christian creationists, Idk if other religions are creationists, but the Bible says that God created humanity in six days, so this would not work, because we were made in the image of God.

I'm not sure it's exactly random. There are a lot of things that cause evolution, a lot of factors, and in reality, it's quite an interesting system. It's the ecosystems' way of balancing itself, so it's always growing and improving. You could give credit to God, or whatever religion (or lack thereof) you have, for setting it into motion. You could believe that the animals environment is sparking them to change on their own based on the circumstances. You could believe both (or also like me, believe that God set this system into motion). I'm not one to judge.

As a Christian who has read Genesis multiple times, there's also nothing in there that says He couldn't have used evolution as a tool of creation. Also -- the Hebrew word for "day" can also mean "era".

Well, yes, but actually no. There’s two different ways I can explain my answer: The religious: If He took a vacation, the Bible wouldn’t exist because people wouldn’t have interactions with Him. The secular: Everything happened via pure coincidence.
