There are some things in the Bible that are outdated. They were there because of inequalities and health issues that are either not tolerated or a problem any more, some examples are the tattoos, piercings, and divorce. There are rules that may have worked well for one time period, but not another. That's what humans do; evolve, tolerate, and try to better themselves. At least, that's what GOOD humans do.
