This Pup Was Dressed Up In A Tuxedo To Greet His New Family, Who Decided Not To Show Up
188Kviews
Sometimes life doesn’t go the way you want it to. That’s how it went for this adorable 3-month-old pupper named Vicente. This pup got all dressed up because his new owners were supposed to pick him up for adoption. He wore an adorable little tuxedo and was full of excitement to meet his new family.
Sadly, his new owners never showed up. The dressed-up pup was left devastated. “We rescued Vicente, his siblings, and his mom in Zipaquirá, a town near Bogotá. He’s 3 months old. We have an adoption process with a form and the guy who wanted to adopt him applied and passed all of our requirements. He even went to our shelter and picked Vicente out of his brothers and sisters. He supposedly would pick up Vicente for adoption on the 9th to take him home. So we did what we usually do for adoptions—we gave him a bath and prepared him for his adoption day (with the tiny smoking jacket as they need to be perfect for their special day), but the guy never arrived. He stood him up and then called to cancel the adoption,” said Diana, a volunteer at Rescátame to Bored Panda.

The shelter that Vicente lived in is called Rescátame Foundation, which is dedicated to finding abandoned animals and getting them a home. The shelter shared Vicente’s story on their social media and it went viral. People sent love and care for the pup and many of them wanted to adopt him.

Sadly, his new owners never showed up and the pup was left without an owner once again

However, the shelter wanted to be sure that the pup would actually be adopted this time: “Vicente’s alleged adopter never came for him. When he was ready for a home, bañadito, he canceled his adoption. Then we are asked why we are so rigid with the process, for that reason! Because we don’t want to have the slightest doubt that our furry ones will be in excellent hands for the rest of their lives. If you want to adopt, remember that it is a commitment forever—animals are not things you can have when you feel like having a dog.”
After the shelter shared his story on Facebook, many people reacted and the post went viral

Because of all the attention the pup got, Vicente soon found a new, loving home

After a lot of searching, Vicente finally found a home and a new, loving family that actually wanted him. The shelter released an official statement saying that the pup is now adopted: “Thanks to all interested people—we never thought that your story would get that far. We want to tell you that Vicente has already been adopted by a beautiful family. We still have over 40 furry friends at the foundation waiting for a home. You can write to us via our intern, who will share their adoption forms with requirements.”

Before the comments of this article turn into a hatefest. Maybe the previous candidate had reasons to cancel the adoption, and maybe his heart ached to do that. Anyway, glad the dog got a new home full of love. Turned out well in the end.
You are totally right, however, I believe that if the first family had notified the adoption centre, even if just later, that there has been an unfortunate twist of events, the centre wouldn't have presented this as "they didn't show up", cause they would have known they had a good reason. It's like being called in for an interview and never show. I never hired anyone and did not give a second chance if they didn't even bother to let me know at least later on that they had a good reason to do so. Best that the first family didn't adopt him, they would have just let down the dog.
My dad has always given a home to dogs from rehoming centres,,a couple of years ago he had a set of unfortunate events happen, his wife had passed away,, then his dog who was very old had passed away,, he left it a few months being lonely he decided to go and get another companion,, he came across a lovely pittie,, everything was going good but after many long thoughts and feelings that dad was going through he realised that it was too soon,, and had to decide that it wasn't time,, being a decent person he informed the rehoming centre of this decision as hard as it was, it was the right thing to do I felt, as long as you let them know, it won't be as much as a disappointment for them or the doggo, ppl jus consider the long term when getting a pupper it a doggo life that your caring for and that's a long time.

They could share the reason. You are right, but my first thought was thank heavens it fell through as those are not the type of people you want to adopt an animal.
Yeah, exactly. Maybe they were horrible people, but maybe something happened to them. Remember that movie from the 90s, ShortCuts? A baker was so annoyed that a well-off family didn't come and pick up the birthday cake he baked for their kid that he called and left nasty messages. Turns out the kid had been hit by a car and they were with him at the hospital. We NEVER know what's happening in someone else's life.
My first thought wasn't remotely about the people who didn't show, it was all about the ones who did. Wonderful.
The previous candidate had canceled without any explanation, that tells you something about his character; thank the forces he did.
Aww, I'm glad this cutie got a loving home, he looks so happy about it 😍
It's ridiculous to claim this puppy was “heartbroken“ no one picked it up. This dog had no idea people were supposed to come.
Martha,we are totally unaware of the power that dogs have. They are true 4-legged angels. Who guarantees that he didn't really know what was going on? I prefer to believe that YES he knew!
I agree with you. My heart tells me that he knew, and nothing's worse than feeling like you have no worth.
if he knew that, then he also knew a better family was coming. Or, he just really liked his tux. (he looked sharp in it!)
I also am sure he knew! Animals are smarter than they are given credit for.
You sadly underestimate the mental proweress of animals. I have always had dogs, but now I have birds, and let me tell you my birds feed off emotion. If I go away for a weekend, they of course think it's forever and one of my feather babies will tell me every single time "Momma miss you" My Blue and Gold Macaw Wendy is so smart that every morning when I leave for work she KNOWS the rest of the birds and humans are asleep in the house and she'll wake up and whisper "buh bye" every. single. morning. I can be quiet as can be and I'll still hear her as I walk out the door whispering her good byes. When I get home, she gets fluffed up and excited and says "Hello Baby!!!! Come here, up up" so yes, he probably did know. Because the rescue probably made a big to do and told him as he was getting bathed and dressed that his new daddy / mommy was coming. Then nothing.
It is the sad truth that animals are more...open to change than you hoomans. Think about it. When do animals scream over politics? When do animals have wars? They are simply kinder than humans.
AzKhaleesi no
Yes, yes he did. Puppies, DOGS in general are smarter than we actually think. No, really. Think about it, Martha. Dogs understand human commands, but we don't understand barks, do we, Martha? I met a pupper the other day that only understood Spanish.
rude, it was a heart warming story with a dog in a F*****G TUX. who shat in your cereal?
you made me laugh so hard!!!
BAHAHA thank you flower-person!
Hey Martha don't be a Karen/buzz kill. I sincerely hope you don't have any pets because they would be better off at a shelter than with you.
Minnie-me Good response!
You must be fun at parties.
Hah. I wouldn’t want to be invited to one with them.
its ridiculous to think that dogs dont have a capability to be heartbroken.
Yes, I think we all understood that fact. The point of the article is to make other people a)realize how important and necessary it is for ALL dogs to have a home and people that love them b) to point out what a d#ck thing it is to make an appointment w/staff at a shelter that are are probably volunteers giving of their time and after all their effort expended to facilitate an adoption, someone doesn't show up, breaking their word and leaving one more deserving dog with out a home and c)its a dramatization made to "pull at the heart strings" of people so they realize how perfect shelter/rescue dogs are, and maybe-just maybe- they take the need for all dogs (cats too) to have a home with people more seriously and they possibly adopt a dog and later realize "this furry little creature is the part of my heart and soul I didn't know I was missing." Also, I agree with Ms. Campo's statement: We have no idea what goes on in their wonderful little minds.
He looked so sad. 😭 but that’s not the point these people were supposed to adopt this puppy but the backed out last second I don’t know who wouldn’t wast this puppy
I agree with you Martha. The pup wouldn't know that someone was supposed to come and pick it up. But projecting human emotions on animals is very common in our day and age. People "feel in their heart" that the dog knew it was going to be adopted and that the dog was "heartbroken". These type of people probably believe in Tarot cards, Zodiac signs and other things that they "feel in their hearth" is true.
maybe they told him or hes seen other doggos getting the same thing before they get adopted
Totally agree - the only sad thing about this is the tuxedo that the shaven apes made him wear and the pup being separated from his canine family . The rest is Anthropomorphism at it’s stupid best
Martha you are so correct. Lonely, bored people create this drama. It's ridiculous.
still not showing up for something they commited to is wrong and not even calling
Aaron Smith easy
How does lonely have to do with feeling sad for a cute pupper? Many of these people have families and pets of their own and they feel sad about it. Just because we don’t have stone hearts does not mean we are lonely!
No, she's not. Ya know why? Because doggos have feelings, too. Read the hecking comments. You're being ridiculous. Then again, I wonder why it's called Bored Panda. . . Oh, yeah. People who are bored come here and do this. YOU ARE BORED, Chris.
Shut your mouth trap Karen
Shut up. Please. Actually not even please. Just. . .shut up.
Why all these sad animal posts lately. I cry every time. Most of them I have to skip over really quick it weighs on my mind for weeks sometimes. I have 4 rescues and 3 that have passed away from old age I can't even imagine them suffering to abuse or neglect
but this one has a happy end :-)
Sometimes the internet shows it does have a nice side :)
It's sad for person who thought they wanted to adopt a dog, but then decided against it. Maybe they had second thoughts or maybe they were trying to fill a hole left by another dog. I'd much rather a person not show up than get a dog and not treat it like it should be. I'm glad the pupper did get a home, after all.
Aww! 🥰
I am so very happy that the original adopter acknowledged their own reasons for not adopting and at least advised the shelter. Albeit a little later that reasonable. It would have been so much worse if he had felt obligated to take possession of Vicente only to then be unable to care for him properly.
Of course, we are so happy for the pup, I am a senior, all my cats and dogs were rescued, I firmly believe, they know, you saved them, all of mine ,I have to say, they were awesome, have been told, I have a way with animals, no not really, it simply comes from my heart, the love, patience, understanding, you may, or may not know, what they have been through, just assume it wasn't good, I talk to my pets, as if they were toddlers, the more you talk, the more they learn, even my cats understand, they have a reasonable vocabulary, in understanding me, adopt, adopt, adopt !!!
The man who didn't follow through doesn't deserve to have any dog or cat or other animal, as far I'm concerned.
What a shot to cancel his adoption! But it is actually good, as this person might have just left him somewhere if he became a burden or unwanted!
So sad. The dog is soo cute and got `abondend'
Abandoned? Well done to the shelter for caring for him AND finding a real new home for him. At least this story got them some publicity for the other dogs needing new home. Another 'happy ending'.
maybe there was a family emergency or other reasons, but it'll be nice to call and tell the shelter. VERY cute pup
There is a special place in hell for people who pull a shitty stunt like that.
As sad as this is, little pupper doesn't really know he's been stood up, he's probably just happy to be pampered

I'm a sucker for happy endings... and roller coasters of emotions
There were plenty of people willing to adopt the puppy so if the new person did not turn up the puppy would of found a new family straight away. its just sad that the puppy was in a tux waiting.
beautiful story with a happy ending! to the people complaining -this is a well written story, its creative writing and it gives emotion to the story and humanizes the dogs story regardless that the puppy didnt know or the guy had reasons etc, its about a dog that got adopted, about 2nd chances, apriciate it for what it is and for the moral and ending of the story

I wasn't going to look at this, because it made me sad. Glad I did & happy he got a new home.
OMG, he is the sweetest, most adorable little pupper! How sad that he was rejected by his first adoptive family. I am so glad that he was finally placed with a loving family in a forever home. I hope Vicente has a long, happy life with people who adore him and take good care of him. That soulful little face just breaks my heart.
That pup was so adorable in the smoking jacket and I barely could hold back the tears. I love animals and it broke my heart so bad. I can tell you that I'm so happy that he found a Good Home. Adoption and a rigid process sounds like the way to really find a permanent home for the most part. Maybe a fee of some sort and then upon actually finding the home, giving it back to the new owner in food and other little treats and then maybe too a portion of the adoption fee. Wouldn't that be a Win Win for everyone. But the Best Win would be the pup with a home full of REAL love for him or her. Just don't put an article like this with a sad story or we will have a flood like in Noah's day.
I love his little tux. i want one for my dog!

Better cancel the adoption last minute, than taking the animal in and then finding out that you don't want it and dump it or whatever. The dog was not harmed in any way. It did not even know or understand. So why the drama. Besides, I'll never understand why people think it cute to force animals into human clothes...

A thank you to K. Witmer for sharing. Just like you, I have to scroll quickly past the sad animal stories too. Yes, they weigh on me just like you. Criticize me if you want for having a heart for animals. I know it's unrealistic, but I wish people who abuse animals would have the same thing done to them. There is NEVER an excuse for this. I'm glad love was not lost. Dogs know more than SOME people know they can sense things - And SOME people don't have any sense at all! Sorry Bored Panda I'm guessing-5.
Who could resist such a cute face along with that outfit! He finally got where he really belonged after all he went through. He will never have to worry about love with his forever family, you can tell just by looking at the pictures.
So very sad

What an adorable puppy! And great job by the shelter for making the adoption more of an event by putting the puppy in the cute outfit! Pity the first family didn't work out, but that little sweetheart wasn't going to be single long in any case.
Something like that happend to our pupper Berne. When I went to see the 'boerenfox' puppies after my beloved Anna died, I went for Berne's sister Saartje. We knew then that Berne was reserved for the 4th time! With nobody ever showing up after. We went home witn Saartje, bought her all the puppy stuff and introduced her to our 2 other dogs Dribbel and Tjeero, 2 Frisian stabby dogs. We got a call 2 days later, Berne was still there and missing her sisters and brothers. The breeder knew we liked Berne, and asked if we wanted to adopt her, and we did. I don't get it. She is such a loving dog, she absolutely NEEDS cuddles every time you get back in the room. She is smart, beautifull, and loves to get into trouble with her sister. I just don't understand why you reserve a dog, and never come back. ...

Vicente is such a cute pupper! I hope I find one that adorable when I go to get a canine friend.
Priscilla Campos I think you are right about the dogs having power .The power they have is the cuteness and guarding the houses.
I wish I could have adopted him my 2 dogs would have loved him.
I had sad tears in my eyes when I was reading Vicente’s story but when he got adopted I got happy tears
I actually burst into tears when I read that his adopter never showed. I am so happy that Vicente has found his furever home. He sure is a cutie!!
I'm so happy that it ended beautifully.
I love the ending of this story. Glad to know up front that the previous owner didn't get the pup. Someone that claims to do something and doesn't do it is not dependable and doesn't need a pup. So glad the pup found a loving home
Oh please! The pup dressed up was cute. End of story. People are sad over this drama tale? How shallow that you can boohoo over an animal, yet ignore abandoned children in foster care. THAT is heartbreaking.
Not enough money, don't want to become a parent, not ready, nervous, don't have a safe home, way too many reasons.

I just don't understand why you reserve a dog, and never come back. ...

The only sad thing about this story is a puppy is being taken away from its mum and siblings - the rest is Antropomorphism at is stupid best .
Who could not love that precious face♥️
KARENS SHOULD NOT EVEN HAVE TRAPS TO SHUT
