Halloween is coming and those people who are really into celebrating this holiday for sure started thinking how to impress everyone with their costumes and decorations. Pumpkin carving is one of the ways to do that, and if you are not sure about your abilities, there’s a man you can trust. And his name is Alex Wer.
Alex Wer is an award-winning artist working under the name The Pumpkin Geek. He carves custom pumpkins that, as he says on his website, last forever. His pumpkins are one-of-a-kind creations, and might be turned into probably anything. Wer covers such themes as sports, television, movies, gaming, or even cosplay. We think they’re pretty impressive, aren’t they?

Load More Replies...But this needs to be rendered with him breathing fire!!!! Would be cool if flames cutout opened on the flame inside the pumpkin.
a všiml si někdo,že ta dýně je stále jedna a ta samá? takže to reálné není a je to na tu dýni jen promítlé !
HOCUS POCUS!!! These are all amazing but this is my favorite one! If free handedly done (no templates)...simply amazing!
This is beautiful, some little Star Wars-loving kid's gonna see it and literally scream because it's so awesome!
That's it! I'm going to the store and buy some pumpkins...to draw super simple faces with triangles.
I'm going to kill you. Not today, not tomorrow but I'm going to kill you.
He's not using a real pumpkin, they are manufactured and use a battery powered light. He is clear about it on his site. That's why they all look the same. So, I don't know if that changes the type of skill needed compared to a real pumpkin but if you get one of his creations, you can use it every year, not just once. It even states that in the opening paragraph on this page. They are Gemmy craft pumpkins, BTW.
It doesn't really change the type of skill needed, but it does change the environment needed. Doing shading on foam craft pumpkins generates a horrendous amount of fine orange foam dust and it's just gross. As for skill level - Alex is practically a god in pumpkin carving circles.

He's got those on his website - http://thepumpkingeek.com/
Load More Replies...These pumpkins are really well done. It's a shame they need to be disposed of after the holiday !
They don't, they're carved on foam craft pumpkins. All you have to do is find a place to store them and you can use them year after year.
Load More Replies...How.. how you make that f*****g perfect deep light? I don’t want to know. Shut up and take my money.
Incredible detail...I actually think it's a great idea to use a fake pumpkin. That way the pumpkin won't rot and the art can be preserved /put out every year instead of throwing it away!
these are fake. look at the pics of the pumpkins on the counter top. they're exactly the same. same height, same shape, the stem is even cut the same. fake fake fake.
They're foam craft pumpkins, from a factory. All of them are exactly the same before he carves them. You can buy them at any craft store.
Load More Replies...Not to detract at all from Alex's awesome carvings, but for those who think this is all fake and photoshop and it's not possible to do this let me also introduce you to another pumpkin carving legend - Dan. Dan also uses foam craft pumpkins, and you'll note that he is also incredibly skilled. He's also started adding colour to some of his carved pumpkins to take it up to the next level: https://www.flickr.com/photos/danszczepanski/
Really sad to see the negative comments here from people who just can't believe that these could be real. Yes they're foam craft pumpkins. Yes the carving and artwork is real. No he's not the only person out there that does this - there are lots of us that do. Some have reached almost legendary status because of their skill - Alex is one of them. There are actual pumpkin carving communities online where people (like me!) talk about tips and techniques and ideas. I remember when Alex used to post on one of them, before he became really busy turning this hobby into a real business for himself. This stuff is real people. The man is an artist, foam pumpkins are his medium. And if you really like them you can go to his site and buy one.
The Han pumpkin looks different but most of them do look the same and even the same orientation.
"They are all craved on GEMMY craft pumpkins" according to artists website. So yeah, they're excatly alike, but not the same. And not real pumpkins btw. Like this ome: http://www.gemmy.com/13_inch_Harvest_Pumpkin_p/51723.htm
Load More Replies...Well they're "the same" pumpkin in that they're all identical foam craft pumpkins that he's carved. But you won't get any light reflections from doing this type of carving - which is technically shaving but saying you're a "pumpkin shaver" just sounds weird. But only a few of his pumpkins have any areas where he's gone completely through the pumpkin shell.
