The International Association of Professional Birth Photographers (IAPBP) has announced the best photos of its 2016 photography contest, and the results are breathtaking. Now in its fifth year, the photo contest celebrates “the beauty of birth and the skill of birth photographers” in three categories: labor, delivery, and postpartum. What’s it like to be one of these intrepid photographers?
“Birth photography is a highly specialized field and the choice to have the experience documented is an intensely personal decision,” explains IAPBP’s press release. “It involves the birth process, environment, the parents, and those in attendance. Birth photos encompass the tears of joy, the wonder of bringing a new life into the world, and celebrates family. The professional photographers who specialize in the field use their art to tell the story of birth.”

Beautiful images! Sad to read some of them classified as "mature content" only because breasts appear on it... Very sad. Can anyone tell me why you must be +18 to see a mum body?
I''ll never know. But keep talking, because we have to get through to them somehow. Breasts are not dirty, they are not evil, they are not sex organs, they are the food of the human race. It's about time they shuffle off the porn coil. Thank you.
We use ads to pay our bills, and ad networks are very sensitive to such content. Also, there are people viewing the images at work, so a little warning solves both problems, and you can still view the images if you want.
Speaking as a 16 year old girl, I'm pretty sure I know what breasts look like, and breasts are a completely normal thing that more than half of the population sees on a daily basis. I feel like by classifying these powerful photos as "mature content" they are classifying them as porn.
oh i don't know...human decency. modesty...why don't you just walk around naked?
I dont understand it either. When a mother is giving birth in no way should her naked body during this process be sexualized or considered content for mature adults. This is how we all come into this wolrd. And thwir should be no censorship to it. Birth is a hard beautiful thing.

Breasts and buttocks. It's how you have been raised. You would have to be born into a native Himba tribe in Namibia for you and your society to not see breasts as sexual organs.

This isn't the 1800s. Most of the kids in my family were breech. Yeah it's disconcerting but it isn't like on tv. If you're in a good medical facility it is taken in stride. Also true when you're simply copy and pasting a foot on a bum. Relax.
