Twitter User Presents 11 Stories That Show Why Abortion Restrictions In Texas Are Immoral

Heated debates about the Texas Heartbeat Act are still continuing on. Women are not at all happy about how the government is treating them and they are employing metaphors, comparisons and appealing to the politicians’ conscience to make them understand that approving that bill was a mistake and that it violates their rights.

This topic is trending on Twitter and there are many people saying what their stance on it is. One of them is Dr. Elizabeth Markowitz, who spoke out the thoughts of Sam Scanlon, the person behind the blog Memiors of a Moddler, in her tweets and got a lot of support for saying that she doesn’t want babies murdered, she just wants women to stay alive and healthy.

More info: Twitter

Blogger Sam Scanlon shared why abortion has to be a woman’s right and when Dr. Markowitz shared it on Twitter people really resonated with it

Having an abortion is never an easy decision to make. Both an abortion and pregnancy may have long-lasting consequences on a mother’s mental and physical health. So choosing one or the other is tough.

What is easy is blaming women for murdering their unborn children. It is easy to categorize people into pro-life and pro-choice as if there is nothing in between and mothers who choose to terminate their pregnancies are the most evil people in the world who have no souls.

It’s really not that straightforward. And Sam Scanlon gives perfect examples of that. She gives 11 hypothetical situations that are all true and are reality to many women all around the world. The stories really resonated with people as the thread was liked by 66k people.

Yes, a child that is growing in a woman’s womb is a life, but what if they are so undeveloped or are at high risk of having an incurable disease that their life would be constant pain and would consist of constant hospital visits? It is possible that they even wouldn’t survive for that long and that would be even more heartbreaking to witness as the parents would have already created a relationship with the child.

The blogger Sam Scanlon presents 11 hypothetical situations that a lot of women are in and who should be able to have the choice

Sam talks about women who were raped and realized they are carrying the child of their assailant, or girls that were sexually abused and then had a baby growing in them when they themselves are just children.

The blogger also talks about women who have to choose not to have the baby because otherwise it would be them who would not survive. There are also situations when women have to think about their financial situation and even if they want another child, they just couldn’t provide them with a quality life.

The situations are heartbreaking and showcase that deciding to have an abortion is not easy as some may paint it to look like

Bored Panda reached out to the National Abortion Federation (NAF), the membership association of abortion providers and talked to The Very Reverend Katherine Hancock Ragsdale, President & CEO of the Federation. We asked what did she think of this thread, presenting examples of various situations when women need to have an option to chose for themselves if they would like an abortion.

Her reaction was positive and she believes that these types of conversations help people to understand the issue more. She told us, “We need to dismantle the systems and stigma that allow laws like SB 8 to be passed. One way to do that is to talk openly about the moral good of abortion and share all kinds of stories and abortion experiences. On the NAF Hotline, we talk to people every day who know that an abortion is the right decision and they deserve to obtain the health care they need no matter their reason or where they live.”

There are so many other heartbreaking situations, even more than mentioned in these tweets. Deciding to have an abortion is not the same as deciding which flavor cake to buy for your birthday. Whether in the end a woman chooses to do it or not, it will have an impact for the rest of her life.

And the only person who knows best what consequences she can live with more calmly is the woman and no one else. People in the comments were saying that a woman doesn’t even need to have a super wild reason to end her pregnancy. The emotional aspect is enough. Not feeling prepared to be a parent is enough. It is dangerous to make a person have children if they feel in their hearts that they will not be able handle it.

With these stories, the blogger and the Twitter user are saying that they indeed are pro-life and the lives they are defending are women’s lives and their futures

The Very Reverend Katherine Hancock Ragsdale said that when the bill was first introduced people working in the NAF didn’t expect it to “pass as it is so extreme and malicious.” After they found out about it,  the Federation “members and partners fought on the ground to try and stop it and they continue to advocate for their patients and communities who deserve to access abortion care where they live.”

We were curious to know if they had any guesses why the bill was approved despite the backlash and people saying it was unconstitutional. The CEO explained, “As we have seen in other states, some politicians are more focused on their own political agenda than the health and well-being of their constituents. This law was passed by politicians who have their own personal agenda of banning abortion, even though it is not in line with what the majority of Texans want or believe.”

The members at the Federation fear that “this Texas law sets a dangerous legal precedent that could clear a path for states to override people’s constitutional rights. If the courts let this bill stand we can expect to see similar bills introduced in states across the country.” But at the same time are hopeful that “there will be some kind of relief from this harmful, unconstitutional ban soon.”

People will not stop fighting and those who say their piece help to advance the fight to the right direction. Because if people like Dr. Markowitz or Sam Scanlon can convince someone to change their mind, it is still a positive change.

Even if the reason why a woman chooses an abortion is not life-threatening, the blogger still claims that it’s their choice

Dr. Markowitz who shared Sam Scanlon’s thoughts wanted to show that women who choose an abortion or would like to have it as an option are not murderers. These stories show that women are actually pro-life and those lives they cares about are their own and other women’s.

The blogger suggests that women deserve a quality life and they deserve the right to be the ones in charge of their future, so she is not only about when a woman is at risk of dying because of her pregnancy.

So what do you think of this thread and the stories that Sam presented? Do any of them resonate with you and do you think that they could convince someone who is anti-abortion to consider the other side? Leave us your thoughts in the comments!

Many people in the comments strongly agreed with the thread and saw the Texas abortion restrictions as unconstitutional

If someone needs help in Texas, the NAF Hotline (1-800-772-9100) can help you find a local provider or can help you find a clinic in another state and if you qualify, they may be able to help you book and pay for your travel. Too many people feel that pro-choice means pro-abortion. It simply does not. Most women don't even know that they are pregnant until after that ridiculous 6 week period. Texas governing bodies won't allow schools to make students wear a mask to help protect not only them but those around them yet give more rights to an unborn and potentially not viable fetus than a person who is already born and thriving. What kind of world do we live in?

How funny , we live in the 21 century, we went to space, we cured a lot of the deadly diseases, we are all for a progress-all kinds of it, we finally allowed gay people to get married and have children.... and yet we still try to control women's bodies and lifes, just like 300 years ago. Personally I just can't wrap my head around the idea that someone will decide if I am having a child or not, that some random bunch of people with are in control of my uterus. It is just so f**ng medieval.

They don't know. They don't *want* to know. They have their over-blinkered view of the world where they have all the power and they seek to punish any one who doesn't conform to that view. They have a worse than infantile attitude, because infants can *learn*. They are dinosaurs who haven't realised the meteor hit.

I'm pro-life.... the lives of women who for whatever reason cannot/should not/don't need to have a child.... A mistake in birth control b/c a husband won't get a vasectomy; a rape; a fetus that won't survive birth; a family that can't/won't support a child with certain disabilities detected in utero (money plays a part).... I am pro-life. Without choice, these women/girls lose their lives. Anti-legal-abortion causes a huge health risk to women.

People don't get abortions on a whim or for a laugh or a casual night out. It's serious and it's sad. It's a sad thing to do and lots of people who have had them live with the knowledge of what once was every day. But as this article shows, sometimes it has to be done and sometimes the baby itself is a symbol of something heartbreaking and traumatic. I've never had a baby or been pregnant myself but I was told that one of the first rules of pregnancy is that the mother's life comes first as without the mother the baby cannot be born at all and is already an established and worthy life. The concept of choice is not "Free Abortions For All! To Hell With Contraceptives!" It's providing the CHOICE whether or not to keep the baby (which lots of people still do) or to unfortunately decide that it just can't be. This takes into account both the baby's and the parent's life and can save both. Pregnancy is scary and it is lifechanging. People should not be forced to go through with it whether or not it was intended to happen in the first place. Leave people's bodies alone and let them have the CHOICE.

No, abortion isn't serious and isn't sad. Abortion is only sad if the pregnancy is wanted and can't be continued. The most common feeling after abortion of unwanted pregnancy is relief, not sadness, and the post abortion syndrome is a myth. Also, if a pregnant person have no children they are not a parent, they are simply just a pregnant person.

At the end of the day, a woman is a US citizen with constitutional rights, and a fetus is NOT. We have birthright citizenship in the US. That means that citizenship is conferred at birth, and not a second before. No law may strip a citizen of constitutional rights in order to grant them to a non-citizen, full stop.

She's right all the way but talking to deaf ears. Republicans consider it their god given right to decide about the lives and deaths of women they do not know. And like true honest to god believers they are ruthless in their judging.

Republicans have been quietly experiencing these situations and getting abortions for years, but it’s “different when it happens to me” so they ignore these abortions as if they don’t count. Also, they don’t care about other people.

The only true anti-abortion advocates are the ones who are actively campaigning for comprehensive sex education, free and readily available birth control, and government policies that reduce poverty. If you say you're against abortion and aren't doing those things, you're just a f*****g liar who wants to control women's bodies.

You want to talk about banning abortion? Okay, well, there’s a couple things you need to do first. Prevent all unwanted pregnancies. Miraculously make sure every AFAB alive could support a child. Pay for everything related to sustaining life. Then we’ll talk. By the way, I’ll still argue for legal abortion.

Actually you need to start at the beginning. Make every father 100% financially responsible until the child is an adult, enforced by the government revenue agency. As it sits men can still walk away relatively easily.

I had to do in-depth research into this topic for my writing job and let me just say that it's quite complicated. US statistics show that 90% of abortion patients are women belonging to the poorest 13%.The ban is gonna hurt the poor the most. There's also the whole black market to worry about which is much worse in this day and age with abortion inducing pills available through the internet. This is dangerous.adoption isn't a good alternative either because research shows that giving up a child is more traumatic that aborting a foetus u barely have a connection with. Having said all that, pro choice advocates aren't all that innocent either.

What year is it? Oh, that's right... it's 2021. WHY ARE DRACONIAN LAWS REGARDING WOMEN'S REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS RESURFACING? I thought progress had been made in this area. Guess not. Were women even involved in the creation of this bill? Were medical doctors consulted about the ramifications of this bill? Probably not. It's maddening that the oppression of women's rights is still an issue in 2021.

Abortion didn't used to be a political or even religious issue, at least in the US. It was considered medical, and neither Christians nor Republicans considered it to be evil. It wasn't until the 1980's when the Republicans, who were mostly Christian, realized they could use the idea of anti-abortion to their advantage. They began to argue that abortion constituted murder, which is forbidden in the bible, and that women were inherently born with the god-given role of motherhood. Basically, they created a fake agenda that nobody at the time even cared about to help win voters.

Texas, or Tex-ass of the future. Unqualified individuals doing illegal abortions on a kitchen table, extorting thousands out of desperate women, using non-medical and unclean utensils. The human population is increasing exponentially. We are using up all the world's resources. Cutting down forests to expand agriculture to feed us. We are poisoning our land, sea and atmosphere, leading to floods and droughts. There are too many of us already and the world cannot sustain us. The last thing we need is forcing unwanted babies to be born.

Abortions aren't being banned. The Law is to insist that the abortion takes place before the heart starts beating at six weeks. Of course, if there is a medical emergency for mother and/or child mid-term, that needs to be accommodated. There are so many forms of birth control in America, including the morning-after pill, that, other than rape, there should be little need for abortions. I think making all forms if contraception free, for both genders, and more education all the way around, could go far in reducing the number of abortions. I personally think these measures should be implemented first!

Nope. A woman can still change her mind and just decide she’d rather not. Men getting vasectomies won’t stop that if they undo it and agrees with a woman to start a pregnancy and she just changes her mind later.

Everyone who believes we shouldn't have the right to decide what to do with our own bodies should be forcibly listed as live organ donors. They have two lungs, kidneys, etc; donating one won't kill them! Some people need those to live, so anti-choicers are obligated to share. Not giving up a lobe or two of liver to someone who needs a liver transplant to live is essentially murder, right? Who cares if losing a kidney or a lung traumatizes them and devastates their health? They should have thought of the consequences before they decided to go breathing and peeing and doing all the other things humans do with their organs.

While I personally dont know if I could ever get an abortion, I believe in every persons right to chose what they do and dont do with their own bodies. How sad that a bunch of men get to make this decision for us. I was 14 when I had my first child, but I was lucky that I had a mother who stepped in and didnt turn her back on me and helped me raise my son. I also have a friend who was rapped and left on the side of the highway for dead and found out she was pregnant with her rapist child. She decided to have her but I know it was a hard decision to make. We continue to go backwards and before you know it women will no longer have the right to vote, or hold jobs if we keep letting the so called Christian man make laws.

How very brave of your friend, that must have been extremely tough. And for you, I am so glad you had a supportive parent. As you say, many do not and 14 is so very young to have to decide. In the UK young girls can get the pill even though they are underage, and without parental permission. Doctors have the right to evaluate and make the call if it is best for their patient. Even then nothing is 100% and when accidents happen people should have choices.

The stories of these women are excellent arguments for the availability of abortion but I feel that we are somehow pushed back into having to find the most horrific stories to compell humanity in these so-called "pro-life" bigots. It shouldn't be only about emotion but also about separation of church and state, and the ability for a citizen to make their own decision for their own body. The Texas ban is anti-democratic (not supported by the majority) and hurts the human rights of citizens. It is a political pandering to the most radical voters, who are all the GOP can count on these days since the Dem's agenda is increasingly popular

The choice to get an abortion is rarely black and white. When you hear the pro-life people talk about it they always refer to the pregnant women as single and imply they are sluts. I've known a couple of married women that had abortions for good reasons. (One the baby had died inutero and she would have had to carry it - knowing it had died- until her body decided it was ready to deliver. It could have been a long time.)

Most Pro-lifers with their "for the children" argument are disingenuous at best. They show this in so many ways, currently by fighting against wearing a mask and vaccinations, when both are proven to be beneficial to preventing or lessening the impact of Covid on all, INCLUDING the very same children they profess to be fighting for. How about we get into the fact that there is a foster system still active in the U.S.? Where are the all caring Pro-lifers for those children? The fact is Pro-lifers really only care about the life of the child up to the point that it becomes a crying, shitting, screaming mess that absolutely has to have somebody responsible for it. Why aren't the Pro-lifers lining up to adopt all those children so that the foster system in the U.S. would cease to exist? Pro-lifers only care about the life of the child during election cycles.

So few people running around the world today have no idea what the history of abortion is especially in the United States. How back in the 60s women were getting back alley abortions and were dying in droves. It was the republican party who helped start planned parenthood.

This is why we need abortion. It's why I support it even though I would never choose to have one. It's why outlawing it could possibly kill women left and right. It is a woman's body and it is entirely her choice, so don't get in her way of choosing. Especially if she might die if she can't get one.

The word hypothetical is very hypothetical here. This happens and if it is not happening to you at the moment, it either happened in past or you were lucky to get away just on time but you know how close call that was. It happens in close neighborhood of everyone reading this. Probably it would be different if people deciding this were not hiding secrets or how privileged they actually are, in that case they have no right to decide rules for not-so-privileged people.

I saw something similar on Instagram. I always cry when I see this. I am adopted, and my birthdads parents told my birth mom to abort me. It's not their choice, it's my birth mom's. I support pro-choice, because of the difficult decisions my birth mom had to go through and the things my biological paternal grandparents told her.

but is it not like if the mothers health is at risk then the abortion is allowed even by this new law? From CNN: "The only exception that allows for an abortion to be obtained after six weeks is a "if a physician believes that a medical emergency exists," according to the language of the bill." So Nabeeha, Cathy, Emily, Vanessa and Courtney would be i guess able to terminate the pregnancy. I cannot say anything for the others though. Dont missunderstand me, i do not like the idea of banning abortions, because if someone is desperate to have an abortion, they will have it. I do not like it either that people in media talk about abortion as it is not a big deal. It is! It is not a contraception, it is not the same as putting on a condom and people should not talk about it as it is nothing. But banning abortions does not solve sh*t, if anything it just escalates the problem. Leaders instead should biuld an environment where you wouldnt have a reason to think about abortion.

No man can tell a woman what she can or can’t do with her body. If a woman chooses to involve the father in her decision to end or keep her pregnancy, that is her right. If she wants him nowhere near her or informed in any way, that is also her right.

Everybody has the right to not have their body used to keep someone else alive. Everyone has the right to say whether or not they will donate blood or a kidney or bone marrow, even if not doing so means the other person will die. It isn't hard to accept that the state cannot force you to donate blood against your will. So it shouldn't be so hard to extend that sovereignty over our own bodies to the pregnancy.

It's been amazing to me that as these people argue about "you're murdering a baby!" that I don't hear anything about the rights of the impregnated woman . her life, her health, her world. As if she doesn't even count in the equation. .."at six weeks of pregnancy, an ultrasound can detect "a little flutter in the area that will become the future heart of the baby," said Dr. Saima Aftab, medical director of the Fetal Care Center at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami. This flutter happens because the group of cells that will become the future "pacemaker" of the heart gain the capacity to fire electrical signals" ( Livescience.com ) It simply isn’t true that a six-week embryo is viable. While there is no unanimous timeline assigned to viability, most doctors use 24 weeks as a general rule.

I have a friend who's sister found out she had aggressive leukemia while pregnant a few years ago. She had the choice between getting an abortion and treating the cancer early or waiting until after the baby was born to start treatment. She chose to wait. Unfortunately the story doesn't have a happy ending for her, but the point is it was HER choice to give up her life to have the baby. That's also what pro choice is about - that a woman is smart enough to decide for herself what is right for her.

If this is how politicians want to do it, let's DO IT. All males have their "tubes" tied prepuberty and their DNA put on record so once they're untied dads can be held accountable. And they have to request the untying which will be reviewed by a panel of WOMEN. How about that?

I think abortions should be allowed. But I also think there should be some types of restrictions even if loose. Like Eliz Markowitz said, banning abortion is harmful because there may be some girls who were raped & are in a position where they cannot take care of their baby. However unrestricted abortion does lead to baby murder. Third trimester abortion is murdering a fetus. First or second trimester, probably not.

I wish there was a way for men or fellow women, who say abortion should be banned regardless of reasons, who say women's rights over their body ends with the fetus, to magically become pregnant over night. Let them experience it for a couple of months. See if that will change their minds.

Many years ago, growing up in Australia, I was date raped when I was 16 and ended up pregnant, the state I lived in abortion was illegal at the time (it has since changed, that god) I had no choice, and ended up having to have the baby. The rules imposed by these backward idiots in Texas is harmful in more ways than one, I am living example. My child is now 34 years old, and yes I did raise her, but it has been difficult, the hardest part being that it is not her fault that her sperm donner raped me, when she resembles him a lot. These law makers need to get out of the dark ages, or both women and children will die.

well, do you love the child? Does she love you? Do you realize she may be the only person in Australia who cares about you when you are old? Do you realize she may end up being the only one who can be your caregiver if Alzheimer's takes you down years from now? Do you still regret her? Do you realize she may be the only one to help you when it comes time to go to the nursing home? If the economy fails and you go broke, she may be the only one who can afford to take you in. You will be beyond pathetic if you accept her help in your hour of need and still regret having her.

The IVF example is outdated, almost all IVF providers won't transfer more than 2 or 3 embryos. Depends on the quality of the embryos and age of the mother but generally we've figured out how to avoid large multiple pregnancies via IVF. More than 2-3 are very rare now.

I think that abortion shouldn't be used a a contraceptive measure. I a woman willingly goes out and does the dirty with a guy knowing she could get pregnant and decides yo abort her unborn child, that is when it is immoral and wrong. If a woman was assaulted, or if the unborn child will cause harm to the mother/hurt her health, it's ok to abort it. If an unborn child will be born with a serious genetic defect, such as a mutation, not having all the necessary organs developed, or a terrible disability that could lead to its death, the mother has all the right to abort. ABORTION IS NOT A CONTRACEPTIVE MEASURE, IT AHOULD BE USED IF NECESSARY FOR THE SAKE OF THE MOTHER/THE MOTHER WAS RAPED/ASSAULTED, OR IF THE CHILD WILL NOT BE BORN DECENTLY HEALTHY

Very, very few use it as a method of contraception but sex is not dirty or immoral. It is a natural thing to do and you are never going to stop people having sex. History has shown that and accidents do and will happen. Being punitive over it won't stop people, we've seen that as well. The morning after pill should be freely and readily available for anyone where a condom splits or the like. That would make some abortions cease to be necessary at all. Make sex education, contraception and abortion easy and safe to access and stop judging people.

I am completely pro choice because I'm aware that medical/life situations call for it... but I don't think the state should pay for it unless you have some kind of proof that having a child would be detrimental to something. I know someone that has had multiple abortions simply because she didn't like condoms, or birth control and doesn't want to have a baby. Abortion shouldn't be used as a form of birth control. I wonder if they would ease up on their abortion laws of they had something in place that would prevent a woman from misusing the procedure.

The new law does account for medical issues that endanger the mother. Also, 1% of abortions are for rape and less than 1% for incest. I do want abortion to be legal, but the people who are arguing for it have to be fully honest or the conversation will never move forward in a productive way. Also, conservatives aren't evil or the Taliban, they just have different beliefs. Some of my in-laws are Christians who are against abortion, and they are wonderful people. We have different beliefs, but we can come to an understanding by talking reasonably.

I am obviously pro-choice, pro-abortion but this whole article is misleading. While horrible, the Texas law still allows for abortions where the mother's life is in danger or a partial miscarriage.(https://19thnews.org/2021/09/texas-new-abortion-law-what-you-need-know/) My concern with this post is that an anti-abortionist will capitalize on the untruth of these few given situations given in the post and deflect from the overall wrongness of the entire situation.

So, I can't take birth control without medical consequences. If my husband uses a condom that broke and I end up pregnant, any child I have had a very high chance of having genetic epilepsy. Not only would it be difficult for me to care for that child, but I've had this medical condition my whole life and would never want to pass it on to someone else. Wow. How sad that you would think I'm responsible for an accident and that you would wish the medical condition to create problems for me and a child.

With fallopian pregnancies and non viable fetuses, these are already covered by the Texas ruling, so not real contributors to pro choice. Personally I don't feel qualified to be the one to make the decision on when abortions are appropriate outside of medical grounds such as the above. I,m pro life in principle but that also equals the woman and the impact a pregnancy has mentally and physically so I choose not to judge as I cannot be aware of all factors. A decision for medical professionals and the woman seems like the best outco e, laws by those who do not know everything involved makes no sense.

Making abortions *so* easy and convenient that some people use them as birth control instead of other forms is just as wrong as denying them is situations like these where preventing medical care to people who desperately need it (apparently a typical American thing to do) is just abhorrent.

abortion is only justified if the mother's life is in immediate danger. The best example I know of this is the rare case of run-away gestational diabetes. Sometimes the shock of pregnancy will send a pre-diabetic woman into gestational diabetes. If the doctor can't get this under control, she can go into a coma. Both she and her baby will die if the doctors can't fix this. The only remedy is abortion, which is justifiable in this case. There are no doubt similar examples. The Texas law has room for this kind of exception. Otherwise, it is just plain wrong for a mother to kill her child because it is untimely, unwanted, inconvenient, or the mother is not ready to be a mother. She should have thought about all of that before she got together with her man. Make them use condoms, ladies. If you are given over to loose casual sex, you supply the condoms for free, since the jerk may not be considerate enough to bring his own. Keep a supply on hand of all sizes. Do you say it costs too much? Not really considering the alternative. And get on the pill yourself if you like to have recreational sex for fun in college and later. And don't rage back with all the reasons why I am a terrible person and am wrong, we just went through that on Panda two weeks ago. I live in a state that respects babies' right to live. For me, BLM means "babies lives matter".

I think it should be banned after a certain point. Like when the baby can feel pain. I think it's silly that you have so many fertilised eggs inserted during IVF. Birth control needs to be freely available. Abortion should not be seen as birth control. I don't agree with abortion . Taking a pill to stop implantation is better than the baby being torn apart.

Please, elaborate with your vast medical knowledge of developmental biology and reproductive medicine. /s If you're not an IVF physician, then how would you know the right number of eggs to implant to make sure at least one turns into a pregnancy? I assume you also don't know that neurological and cardiac function aren't organized enough for fetuses to feel pain or sustain heartbeats until around 24 weeks. Which, by the way, is *past* the previously established cut off date to terminate.

Probably it would be different if people deciding this were not hiding secrets or how privileged they actually are, in that case they have no right to decide rules for not-so-privileged people.

but is it not like if the mothers health is at risk then the abortion is allowed even by this new law?

Rannveig, no one is arguing that a six week foetus is viable... Merely that six weeks is when the heart begins beating.

United States think they are a first world county but treat a woman's body like a medieval serf. Woman don't make choice to terminate a pregnancy lightly - its always a difficult choice made for valid reasons.... her reasons to do with her mind and body.

Quick secret... don't tell the hospital/clinic when the START of your last period was, only when conception happened. Tell them you forget. It can knock off two whole weeks because they start the clock at the random time you started bleeding last, NOT conception.

In a fantastic article about the woman who was the "Roe baby" in The Atlantic, it ends "it was clear that if she, the Roe baby, could be said to represent anything, it was not the sanctity of life but the difficulty of being born unwanted".

The Texas law would not be applicable in several of these hypotheticals... Listing those here does nothing to clarify the matter and, if anything, undermines the pro-choice narrative.

Tie the "lawmakers" down in a room full of Botflies. Make them carry the larvae till they come out on their own. Since they'll be eating tissue they'll contain human DNA.

Make sex education, contraception and abortion easy and safe to access and stop judging people.

till we have a technology that would make it possible to remove embryo/fetus from the woman's body and make it grow and mature outside to full term we should not even consider banning legal abortion. even after that i think women should have a word in if they want a person with half their DNA walking this world or not.

I wonder if they would ease up on their abortion laws of they had something in place that would prevent a woman from misusing the procedure.

killing a baby is wrong regardless of circumstances. dont give me that weak rebuttal " what about women who were raped?" as unfortunate as their case may be explain to me how it is the unborn babies fault its dad is a rapist? if anything kill the father. dont kill babies. if you are that heartless you all deserve to die with them.

I shouldn't give my body, time, and energy to a child that I might not want or be able to take care of. I don't want another child in foster care, possible never having a stable home.

Abortion has never been about "choice". It's about escaping the consequences of your choices! Unless you're talking about rape, incest or the life of the mother being in danger abortion should be 100% illegal!

You do realize that birth control and condoms can fail right? Why are you placing the responsibility solely on the woman? It takes two to tango and yet this law punishes only the woman.
