The world without the Internet is already an alien concept. The Internet is an integral part of our daily routines and objects around us, so much in fact, that certain things would not even exist without it.

But that certainly doesn't mean we can't try imagining how certain apps would look in different times, right? Thomas Olliver, a creative art director, has envisioned the technologies of today as objects from the 1980s.

Did you know that Instagram would do wonders as a disposable camera? And what about a walkie-talkie WhatsApp? Surely, if you found yourself teleported back in time, you wouldn't leave your house without a Spotify Walkman. Would you?

The good news is, you don't need to go back in time. You just need to scroll down the page, and find out what Facebook, Netflix, and Google would be like in the 1980s!

Wow I wonder what the slope of the line is that is tangent to that function (I’m in Calculus and that’s what we’re learning right now...). The function is the S-curve, and the line is...well, the line.

Adobe Illustrator 1.0 shipped in January 1987. I used the 1988 release to do a great deal of my work at the time. It was a great tool even back then.

Adobe is a software not required by the internet. They had autocad back then.

That's wrong, though. No one did anything on an etch-a-sketch except one-off stuff, it wasn't a tool, it was a kids toy.

Nice! But a square Polaroid would have been better, maybe, perhaps, I think.

Used to be called a View Master. I had one that had Disney "disks" that one could view pre-set pictures. 39383_XXX_...a362b9.jpg 39383_XXX_v1-5bdc937a362b9.jpg

I think that Teletext would be better for Google. People in 1980's and 1990's used it very much to find the latest news, sports results, TV program guides and various other information. Teletext still exists in some countries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teletext
