Advantage of the habit people have to follow the crowd. Selling a phone for a big fat sum of money, because many will think it's the greatest new thing you'll need to have to be happy and really accepted. If you have the new i-phone you 'count'. Even if it is way to expensive and is a little improvement over the former model (wich you will probably own). Apple preys on this behavior. That, i dislike. In some way these people are 'forced' to buy it. Forced by the hype, forced by the world around them, forced by their own insecurities. They are a slave of what society thinks is cool, hip and a must-own. You don't count if you don't own the new i-phone, although your current phone is working just fine. So you buy it.

No nobody does, but Apple has taken advantage of people for long enough now with overpricing their s**t. This needs to stop. But that sadly is not realy to them. People apparently buy their stuf.

that's gross, wtf. i'm glad i stopped using apple products six years ago (except for my ipod classic that's still going strong, and the ancient version of itunes i use with it from before they added a bunch of features i didn't need or want).

I've had Apple and Samsung and Apple is no more user friendly than Samsung and if anything their OS is worse in parts, like when making parental accounts or trying to access your account, let's not even start with how invasive iTunes is. No thanks

I have never paid more than 300$ for a new phone. My current brand new one is by Ulefone. I love it and so does my wallet. It's Android 10 operating system, Waterproof and drop proof. It's designed to be used on construction job sites, while my job site is a library. Part of my job is to help people with their tech, this experience has led me to the opinion that new apple devices are NOT user friendly. They are difficult to set up and difficult to navigate if you have no idea what you are doing. Android devices aren't perfect, but at least they still come with a printed manual for the person to reference.

must be nice to have money. all i have is an alcatel that i bought marked down for $20 and can't even use as a phone because i didn't know about carrier locking and haven't been able to afford the $75 total to have "my family mobile" service for three months. if i actually need a phone when i leave the house i take my mom's garbage freebie phone. mine is a champ though, it's not the fastest but it runs apps that i need just fine!

Yea, you guys are not wrong. I’m not proud of my bourgeois lifestyle regarding tech. I like what my overpriced phone is capable of and I do know that I could get a smart phone for less than $300. I just don’t believe it will be as good as my iPhone. Am I wrong? Probably. But it is what it is for now. Nihilism makes you do crazy things.

No kidding. We're all forced, against our wills, by Big Evil Corporation to buy iPhones due to our brains being controlled. We must have these phones for social approval. Apple isn't more private than anything else. People conflate security with privacy. It's technically more secure but they save your data and track you. Buy Apple if you prefer it, but you're paying extra for name and prestige really. Yes Apple doesn't "sell" your data but then Google doesn't either. Look it up. Both of them share it. If you have fb. Insta, tiktok, or practically any app your data is being saved and mined etc. You're sadly misinformed. Google has privacy settings, for example my ads are generic and not targeted because I've turned it off in privacy. I guess if your had an Apple and only ever used proprietary apps then your data wouldn't really be shared but as long as you use anything you're as 'safe' as anything else.

How about finding an older model? Maybe even a used one?
