People say that it’s easy to be right but even easier to be wrong. More often than not, people forget to be careful about what they say online. Quickly typing a few nonsense sentences and pressing "share" might seem like a great idea at the time, but the truth is, they might stay on the internet forever.
The online community called Aged Like Milk is here to remind you of that. As the moderators write in their description, it’s "a subreddit dedicated to all those things in media and elsewhere that didn’t stand the test of time, at all." More than 795k members are on a mission to find and document ridiculous posts that quickly turned sour.
Take a look at some of the worst takes Bored Panda has collected from this group and upvote your favorite ones. Also, if you’re hungry for more examples of how people’s opinions came back to bite them, be sure to check out Part 1 of this post right here.

According to Know Your Meme, "aged like milk" is a catchphrase that mainly describes social media posts that have grown increasingly troublesome since their inception. When people throw their opinions left and right, some of them are bound to be wrong. Well, they might look fine at the time, but time truly shows which beliefs aged poorly by completely breaking modern social norms.
While the origin of the phrase is unknown, the earliest usage comes from a 2006 comedy special Jeff Dunham: Arguing with Myself. A puppet called Walter said "She's aging like milk!" in one part of the dialog. Since then, the clip received more than 4.2M views on YouTube and quickly spread to other platforms, forums, and threads.

A Daily Mail Article From December, 2000 (Reupload)
There's a reason it's called the Daily Fail. Consistently on the wrong side of history since the day it was founded. This is the newspaper that supported the rise of the Na zi s, opposed women's rights, denied (and still does) the existence of climate change... A couple of weeks ago they were still publishing articles about the dangerous far-right militias in Ukraine and how Putin was right to be worried about the threat from them...
Sk8 Or Die
If you ever felt slightly embarrassed about something you shared online, don’t worry. After all, social media is the place for us to vent about politics, culture, sports, our personal lives, and more, so you’re definitely not the only person to ever have a bad take. In fact, more than half of Americans (57 percent) say they have social media regrets. One in six routinely rue their decision to post at least once a week, with Millennials being the most regular offenders.

Load More Replies...I see from the comments that another comment is needed.... I was one of the Thousands of programmers in 1999, all over the world, that worked our fingers to the bone preparing the Cobol-and-Assembler programs that forty years of our peers had put together with two-digit years. The problem was spotted in December 1998, and we Fixed It in Time!. Very few problems, and we sweated that there weren't worse problems. It was an historical event, not a 'dud'. P.S. Yer welcome!
Thank you! It's one of my pet peeves that people who prevented it from happening were so good at their jobs that they don't get any credit because others think it wasn't such a big deal after all.
Load More Replies...Remember the hard-working programmers that made sure it did not turn into the disaster it could have been? Remember all the updates and patches we were asked to make?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/12/30/lessons-yk-years-later/ https://www.cs.swarthmore.edu/~eroberts/cs91/projects/y2k/Y2K_Errors.html Once again, a catastrophe was avoided because some people did something, despite being derided for it. And nobody thanked them.... even worse, people still laugh about it, oblivious to what could have been.
I worked on Y2K code for 2 years before the turn of the century. Afterwards, I had people saying things like "I don't know why you had to do all that work, nothing happened". Yeah, 'cause lots of us did all that work...
Load More Replies...Y2K...oh those were the days. That genuinely scared me as a kid.
Me too. On top of that we had this powerful cyclone (Lothar) around christmas. The power was out for a few days. I was looking out the window and saw trees move in the wind while standing in a dark room, just a few days before the foretold Millenium bug. It really felt like the end of the world.

Load More Replies...Serious issues were avoided by EXTENSIVE work by the IT industry but because sufficient preventative work was done, people think it wasnt a problem and nothing would have happened.
Much like the covidiots since the current pandemic that say "oh Covid isn't as lethal as the Spanish Flu or the Plague. Those killed many more millions. This is nothing to worry about", completely ignore the facts that there were no vaccines, and for the deadliest waves of plague no widespread understanding of transmission vectors, and we have done everything we can to PREVENT deaths by promoting hand and surface hygiene, masks, distancing, isolation etc etc. I know this will likely get downvoted but the fact there was so much done behind the scenes for Y2K is why there was not the Halloween Simpsons style scenario, and similarly with the measures in place now. Why on earth, if you know you can prevent something, would you let it run unchecked? The same idiots would then be bleating that "nothing was done" to stop the situation. Thank you to all those that did their thing back then and doing their thing now to make the situations less horrendous. Some people appreciate your work

Load More Replies...O M G! Y2K was the biggest joke. I spent MOST of my Christmas vacation (we got a paid week off between Christmas Eve and the day after New Years) updating the accounting program & server. The GL balanced to the penny, inventory & packing lists/invoices worked perfectly. I had spent 2 weeks training on the new Windows version of the new software to be ready for the "disaster/crash" they all "KNEW" was coming. AS if. I had a meeting with the company owner in early February - she didn't want me to implement the new software just yet. I was like, "UM - we went live January 1st and didn't have a choice, since the current system is DOS based. And it's run without a single hitch since". I had greatly overstepped my authority (I'm the Corporate Controller and YOU sent me to classes to make sure this system worked). She fired me. Yeah, good luck doing my job! (She got the company in the divorce & was a 5th grade school teacher).
Yes, this scare story made certain "programmers" millions of dollars, telling us that "planes would fall from the sky" and the "prisons would open the cells and all the prisoners would escape" and on and on and on. All because years were programmed with TWO numbers instead of four. Crooks and criminals will play on peoples fear relentlessly, doesn't matter who, what or where. Now all dates use 4 digits for the year, but you can be sure someone is already planning how to sabatoge something else used in computing that we, the ignorant and naive know nothing about. Just wait: the sky is falling! And I say this as a programmer myself.
And never turn it on again because it was cheap crap to start with.
Oh, yeah, driving through the countryside after dark and wondering when all the distant lights would go out.
Sure, first I had to stay up past midnight at the office and then I had to come in early to restart everything. And it was not a big deal after all.

Yes, I give thanks to those poeple who worked to prevent a catastophe.
Had a friend's dad go Y2K Apocolypse crazy and bought hundreds of MRE's water etc.. on 1/1/2000 me and my broke-ass roommates suddenly didn't have to worry about food.
Nothing new here: Y1K was a fear amongst many in Western Europe at the close of the FIRST millennium. Religious rumor, superstition and Bible misreading led them to fear the world would end with the millennium.
It was like waiting for the world to end. We didn't know what to expect and there were many doomsday prophets. With all of the preparation, it all went well.
I was fresh out of highschool working a full time job when this happened. I barely slept hoping that it was actually going to happen so I didn't have to go back to work for a while. Honestly, pretty disappointed that it didn't.
I have a boxful of Y2K memorabilia I saved hoping it would be worth something one day... what do you think, time to pitch it?
Lol i wS like what ....6 so i dont remember rr nother but holiday ham lol
Is anyone else slightly ashamed of the way we behaved at this lol? On Hogmanay that year my younger sister and I took a litre bottle of vodka and went out trawling round people's houses, the ones who were up and having parties though. It was absolutely brilliant lol! It was the one and only time I did that with my sister, she died in 2002. I'll always treasure that memory!
My husband and I flew back to Australia from New Zealand on January 1st 2000. Family and friends thought we were were mad, but we figured that Qantas and their pilots might have checked it out beforehand.
We all laugh now in hindsight, but it was a real possibility back then.
I was working night shift in labour ward that night. My patient was going to be the first to deliver for the hospital, and I was worried the lights might go off or something at midnight because we were really close. Then someone said NZ which was 2 hours ahead was fine, so we should be fine in Australia as well. Delivered the baby 5 minutes after midnight.
I remember every single computer of that era in a dirty beige steel case with a floppy and CD-Drive. Could never lift the damn things and the ones owned by smokers having a disgusting yellow tint and even more disgusting smell...
I actually flew on Y2K day. Everyone was afraid of the planes falling out of the sky. There were only like 7 people on the plane. We each took a row stretched out and went to sleep...best flight ever
Old computers only had two digits for the year. So at the end of '99 they would reset to 00, effectively making them think it was 100 years ago, which could cause a host of errors. People were genuinely worried that many electronic systems would cease to function and we would end up with multiple disasters. Some few people even thought it might cause the downfall of modern civilization. In the end, after all the computers were fixed, the only thing that happened is some food got thrown out because the computer thought it was 100 years passed its sell by date.

We were already well prepared for Y2K. So much fear mongering over nothing.
I vaguely remember ppl worried about this n questioning why ppl were so freakes out over the new year xD i was a chill kid
Talk about your nothing burgers, this one really was. Took me years to use up all the batteries and candles I was given that Christmas.
In the UK people were sent round to talk to us about the Y2K bug effecting our computers and appliances, I told him that I didn't have anything that would be affect and he said smugly "ah but do you have any computers" I smugly replied "yes but they are all Amigas" As there was no chance they could be effected.
An yes the biggest something about nothing that was to ever nothing.
These numbers come from YouGov Omnibus' survey where they asked U.S. citizens about posting or texting something they regret. Many people admitted they were less anxious about sounding silly compared to a few years back. However, they are more worried about damaging their reputation at work — 22 percent said they are concerned that a questionable post might affect their career.
Results also showed that 14 percent of participants feared they may hurt relationships with family members or partners by sharing misguided images or messages. Plus, women were slightly more likely to feel troubled about social media blunders damaging their close relationships than men.

If you’re wondering how to make sure your social media posts won’t come back to bite you, always think twice before sharing something online. Ask yourself if there’s anything in this particular post or comment that could potentially hurt you in the future. Think about whether it might defame a specific view or lifestyle. Also, determine whether your words will actually contribute to the conversation or whether they will only create more noise.

Also, it’s always good to self-reflect and review your older media posts. It’s recommended to delete inactive accounts, provocative or controversial topics and discussions, and anything that might make you look overly cynical or mean. You have a larger audience than you think, so it’s quite easy to overshare and sacrifice your privacy. And just remember, if you ever end up posting something extremely cringe-worthy, there’s a big chance the members of the Aged Like Milk group will pick it up and will make sure to share it with the whole community.

What's worse is the people who didn't make it out of Afghanistan. We're talking about a history of religious violence that has an almost unrivaled brutality in today's world.
