Mom Posts ‘Uncensored’ Postpartum Pic Showing The Raw, Messy And Hilarious Reality Of Motherhood

Amanda Bacon from Wilmington, North Carolina, recently posted a picture on Facebook of herself and her fiancé shortly after she gave birth. But as you can see, instead of a typical postpartum snap of herself and her newborn baby, this mom decided to bring a touch of reality to the scene.

The picture has since been viewed over 450k times and shared by over 115,000 people who appreciate Amanda’s decision to show the honest side of giving birth. “I’m sharing this picture because it’s real,” she wrote on Facebook. “This is motherhood; it’s raw, stunning, messy, and freaking hilarious all rolled into one.” In an age where everything we see on the internet seems to be digitally manipulated in one way or another, it’s refreshing to find a picture as open and honest as this.

Beautiful Healthy Panda Family: with all due respect, Mama Panda is a very beautiful and brave warrior. She is so self-confident in the strong ties of her marriage that sje is absolutely not afraid to post that b&w photo. On the other hand, Papa Panda is so strong in his everyday life, that he fears nothing about what real life is made of. If we turn this page, they are there: 2 simply beautiful baby Pandas. As a proud and so grateful to God who blessed me with 2 baby Panda (my daughter, lawyer, 30 ys and my son, lawyer and Law Professor, 33 ys), that now I know ( I know that I know nothing) that there is not any beauty in photoshopped life. Because of all this, I do congratule you for understing "now" what took me over 40 years to grasp... That adorable Panda Family of yours derve my total respect and admiration!

Lovely family. Bold and courageous Amanda. Supportive and "present" husband. Adorable children. I see a strong and united family, and I wish the very best for them.

There are many things we don't get told about motherhood. But one of the big ones is how much you bleed after giving birth.

I do think we don't like to talk about the messy parts of child birth. I think we should do more to support parents postpartum. I don't want to see the intimate details of someone's life. I mean these pictures are honest, with thought behind them.. still, its like nothing is private anymore. Everything requires an audience.

the thing is that births are seen as something to be censored instead of celebrated and i think the woman who posted this wanted to challenge that a bit

I have NO PROBLEM with the pics, they are indeed a beautiful moment in that persons life. But, some things are special and private.... and should be kept as such. I guess they felt the need to show their private moment

I think the point of the picture is that some things have been kept too private and should be spoken of more openly in order to inform women and help reshape their expectations. I'm fifty-two and work on a maternity floor and am staggered that women giving birth today are operating under almost the same lack of open information as when I gave birth twenty-five years ago. We shouldn't be so afraid or squeamish about discussing the natural functions of a woman's body. It would ease so many fears and anxieties.
