I’m Honestly Fed Up With All The Bad News, So I Illustrated 50 Of The Best Ones From 2019
5Mviews
We are often bombarded with fear-mongering and shocking headlines that make us feel that the world is falling apart.
However, while it’s important to report on problems and issues, I believe there is so much good in this world that it needs to be found and promoted just as widely.
Because of that, I started The Happy Broadcast. It's an anti-venom to the vitriolic rhetoric that pervades our media. Also, this year, I’ve illustrated even more happy news than in 2018.
We need more positive news to acknowledge that the world is actually getting better little by little.

When I'm working on The Happy Broadcast, I try to pick news that has an international appeal and touches themes like animal rights, climate change and science. News that shows how much we’re progressing on many fronts despite being often bombarded with few-mongering headlines.
I think there are many reasons why negative news is dominating the media. It's like a sudden disaster a, it's more compelling than, for example, little improvements. Bad things can happen quickly, but good things aren’t built in a day, and as they unfold, they're out of sync with the news cycle.
As humans, we have this thing called “negative bias” that make us respond quicker to bad or dangerous situations. Nowadays, this bias is getting in the way of our happiness and well-being, and even our productivity because most of the narrative surrounding us (print, online or mobile) is that the “world is ending".
I think we should find a balance between negative and positive news. From politics to climate change and economy, negative and bad news surrounds us everywhere we go. A potential solution could be to limit the amount of bad news, basically slow down our personal news cycle, adding some positive news to our “news diet” to make sure that our outlook on the world is more optimistic. Also, it's very important to invest time to deal with misinformation and the reliability of news sources.
Nairobi has a baby elephant orphanage. So I guess not. Of course, if they are brought up in the orphanage, which is by Nairobi National Park, then they are not sold to a zoo or circus.
This is definitely a good thing, but be careful to remember that fortnite is known for an especially toxic crunch culture. Employees are expected to work insane hours with no pay. Planting forests is good, but he should also be held responsible for the unfair and harmful working conditions his company creates.
This is great, but we've still got a long way to go towards equality
Martin Luther king Jr was a legend for black people. Skin colour doesn't matter!
Black men are still incarcerated at three times the average rate in the U.S., and still receive harsher sentences for comparable offenses than white criminals.
We should include this in the Men's rights movement and fight for solving it as well.
Load More Replies...Proof that if given the equal chance for education, health and basic rights people can strive to be better
Proof that laws that force equality can move a population forward. I will be so happy when racism dies.
Load More Replies...This I would like a source on? Because that to me seems unlikely.
am I the only one questioning the implication (by the percentages given) that 25% of black men are rich? More (by 7%) black men are rich than poor? I'd applaud it, but I don't quite believe it...
where did you get those numbers? just because someone isn't poor doesn't automatically mean they're rich...
Load More Replies...It appears Marin Luther King's dream is starting to bear fruit! How wonderful.
but now even a young adult is shot for answering the door thanks to antagonistic prejudice of white people
We've done this in a single generation but F america because it's racist and white people suck right?
So drop the stereotype of the majority of black people being poor from your brains.
So for comparison, what's the percentage of white men that have made it into the middle class or higher?
This looks good on the surface but actually what it attests is that now black men have bought the lie of the matrix and succumbed to it. And now they are paying to have people in other countries killed. Rather black men could have started another platform, one that raised everyone including them without capitulating to this system run by criminals.
Great...hope the figures for black women and Hispanics also improve..!
That what happens when you aren't stupid enough to think Donald Trump is a racist.
How can an egomaniac make anybody rich, especially those which came, I quote, from "shitty" countries? Just the facts, please, Hayden.
Load More Replies...I have a dream to how about just stop racism and by that let us legalise the usage of word nigger for all the races :) :) :)
This was only a study based on a cohort of men born in the 50s and 60s. This number doesn’t include anyone under the age of 50. This is great for baby boomers but youth and younger adults in the US are really struggling, these stats are super misleading and don’t take into account anything impacting younger folx (explosion of the prison industrial complex and mass incarceration, destruction of the voting rights act, wage stagnation since the 80s, lack of affordable housing, etc). This number is going down across all demographics, Americans are getting poorer and black and brown folx are disproportionately affected.
I'm not a Trump supporter, but his numbers of black unemployment can't be ignored.
So why are they not voting conservative? The progressives certainly didn't have a hand at this! I'm happy for the black race, but they really need to understand who is in their corner!
Orange color does not go together with black, or many other shades of white.
Load More Replies...Pleased to hear that, it’s a very good sign, let’s hope it keeps improving.
To which definition of the term “middle class” are you referring? Is it referring to an income or purchasing power. At a time when rent and other living costs are so high, it’s not enough to look at someone’s income as a reflection of their wellbeing. A person can work 2-3 jobs in order to be classified as “middle class”, technically yes, but how does that fit into most people’s ideology of the cultural aspects of being middle class?
I just don't like that they call the USA America, forgeting about all the other countrys also in America. 'Cause I'm pretty sure that percentage does not include Brasil. Since we've been awful, expecially this year with the devil as president.
I would like to know what source he got THIS from - not in the news I read from the people
Here we go again: Bored Panda is looking at the world through the pink glasses. That will not change the world for the better.
Load More Replies...People don’t count as unemployed if they aren’t looking for work, so this number includes neither people who are underemployed (ie working 3 minimum wage jobs and still unable to make rent) or people who have dropped out of the workforce all together. This stat is misleading at best.
Load More Replies...Mostly thanks to Mr. Trump, but I guess we'll ignore that part right? Orange Man Bad!
Black unemployment numbers are the lowest on record...ever! Trump 2020
Great but I would like to know how many of them come from underfunded schools in ghettos.
While in my country, minority are getting blamed for their hardworking and the majority who often relying on the government handout are blaming us for stealing their wealth. LoL.
What? What do you think Trump did to somehow cause this? And what if I told you these numbers were the same BEFORE 2016?
Load More Replies...So Trump's economy is working? Oh NOOOOOOOO! We must stop it and drag blacks back to the bottom where democrat policies have kept them forever!
What if I told you these numbers were the same BEFORE 2016?
Load More Replies...The rabid, right-wingers still spewing their nonsense that renewables will drive prices up so high no one will be able to have electricity will not be noticing this development. The belief disconfirmation paradigm is too powerful for some people to overcome.
Glad to see them come back. Sad that they died out there in the first place.
This is nice, but it would be better if children being educated wasn’t contingent on their parents paying any sort of fee.
