We are often bombarded with fear-mongering and shocking headlines that make us feel that the world is falling apart.

However, while it’s important to report on problems and issues, I believe there is so much good in this world that it needs to be found and promoted just as widely.

Because of that, I started The Happy Broadcast. It's an anti-venom to the vitriolic rhetoric that pervades our media. Also, this year, I’ve illustrated even more happy news than in 2018.

We need more positive news to acknowledge that the world is actually getting better little by little.

More info: Instagram

When I'm working on The Happy Broadcast, I try to pick news that has an international appeal and touches themes like animal rights, climate change and science. News that shows how much we’re progressing on many fronts despite being often bombarded with few-mongering headlines.

I am so happy for their victory, but just find it bonkers that an indigenous tribe had to fight a legal battle to protect their land in the first place.

I think there are many reasons why negative news is dominating the media. It's like a sudden disaster a, it's more compelling than, for example, little improvements. Bad things can happen quickly, but good things aren’t built in a day, and as they unfold, they're out of sync with the news cycle.

As humans, we have this thing called “negative bias” that make us respond quicker to bad or dangerous situations. Nowadays, this bias is getting in the way of our happiness and well-being, and even our productivity because most of the narrative surrounding us (print, online or mobile) is that the “world is ending".

But in China plastic package is still largely used in supermarket. We know it is not good for environment, but few people really take it seriously! What a shame! I do hope many Chinese can totally change their mind and do sth for the ecosystem.

Sadly a PR stunt for a few. You are more likely to see a single banana wrapped in plastic than anything wrapped in a banana leaf. Add to that shrink-wrapped coconuts and other fruit and vegetables that don't need such wrappings.

Doesn't really hurt them to trim a few leaves off. It's a traditional food wrapper in Asia. Unfortunately the norm is plastic bags.

When I was in Thailand around August, I remember when I'm at the supermarket in every Wednesday if I'm not wrong they wont give any plastic so I put my thing directly in my bag.I always bought bread only tho so I dont mind xD and yeah after knowing that I always bring a big bag and not totebag. And I began to not use plastic even its not wednesday, until now I'm in Indonesia. I refuse using pastics if its not necessary.

This is less than a hand full of stores. - Most stores will throw a huge pile of straws into your plastic bag. along with your load of plastic water bottles that you have to buy because main water is not drinkable. . The streets are overflowing with plastic trash, . but yes, these few use leaves.

This is in maybe a hand full of stores. Every other store in thailand throws a hand full of plastic straws straws in your plastic bag to go along with your plastic containers. and all the plastic water bottles that are used because tap water is not drinkable. - But yes, happy that three shops use leaves.

Yes, and if discarded, those leaves just go back to nature. This is the problem in Bhutan. They used to use natural materials for wrapping and just discarded it on the road. Now that they use plastic, they have to have a giant anti littering campaign to tell them not to discard plastic on the road.

I lived in Thailand 30 years ago and plastic was everywhere, littering all the streets. People sold fresh food at markets in little plastic bags. But many years before plastic they used banana leaves. Then people started tossing plastic on the ground just like they did the banana leaves. A return to banana leaves can be a great thing for Thailand.

I think we should find a balance between negative and positive news. From politics to climate change and economy, negative and bad news surrounds us everywhere we go. A potential solution could be to limit the amount of bad news, basically slow down our personal news cycle, adding some positive news to our “news diet” to make sure that our outlook on the world is more optimistic. Also, it's very important to invest time to deal with misinformation and the reliability of news sources.

SOOOO not against this! But....shouldn't it be equal pay for equal skill? (meaning, no race, gender, age, or any discrimination at all!) If you have more skill in the task, you get paid more, if you have less you get paid less. Plain and simple (yet I know it is more difficult to prove wrong-doing that way too)

Although the use of solar panels is green, many solar panel manufacturing processes are not. To create a solar panel, caustic materials will emit greenhouse gases. Plus less than 11% of each panel has salvageable metals so they're not very recyclable once they're usable life has expired. Most people aren't aware that the 'green' alternatives often aren't.
