I’m Honestly Fed Up With All The Bad News, So I Illustrated 50 Of The Best Ones From 2019
We are often bombarded with fear-mongering and shocking headlines that make us feel that the world is falling apart.
However, while it’s important to report on problems and issues, I believe there is so much good in this world that it needs to be found and promoted just as widely.
Because of that, I started The Happy Broadcast. It's an anti-venom to the vitriolic rhetoric that pervades our media. Also, this year, I’ve illustrated even more happy news than in 2018.
We need more positive news to acknowledge that the world is actually getting better little by little.

When I'm working on The Happy Broadcast, I try to pick news that has an international appeal and touches themes like animal rights, climate change and science. News that shows how much we’re progressing on many fronts despite being often bombarded with few-mongering headlines.
I am so happy for their victory, but just find it bonkers that an indigenous tribe had to fight a legal battle to protect their land in the first place.
I think there are many reasons why negative news is dominating the media. It's like a sudden disaster a, it's more compelling than, for example, little improvements. Bad things can happen quickly, but good things aren’t built in a day, and as they unfold, they're out of sync with the news cycle.
As humans, we have this thing called “negative bias” that make us respond quicker to bad or dangerous situations. Nowadays, this bias is getting in the way of our happiness and well-being, and even our productivity because most of the narrative surrounding us (print, online or mobile) is that the “world is ending".
I think we should find a balance between negative and positive news. From politics to climate change and economy, negative and bad news surrounds us everywhere we go. A potential solution could be to limit the amount of bad news, basically slow down our personal news cycle, adding some positive news to our “news diet” to make sure that our outlook on the world is more optimistic. Also, it's very important to invest time to deal with misinformation and the reliability of news sources.
Hm, I think Sweden must have forgot to apply then. We dont have stray dogs, at least for decades. Any lost dog gets collected, if no owner is found it gets adopted via Animal Protection. I have seen one or two lost dogs, where we found the owner, but never a genuine stray.
SOOOO not against this! But....shouldn't it be equal pay for equal skill? (meaning, no race, gender, age, or any discrimination at all!) If you have more skill in the task, you get paid more, if you have less you get paid less. Plain and simple (yet I know it is more difficult to prove wrong-doing that way too)
Nairobi has a baby elephant orphanage. So I guess not. Of course, if they are brought up in the orphanage, which is by Nairobi National Park, then they are not sold to a zoo or circus.
This is definitely a good thing, but be careful to remember that fortnite is known for an especially toxic crunch culture. Employees are expected to work insane hours with no pay. Planting forests is good, but he should also be held responsible for the unfair and harmful working conditions his company creates.
I personally know some people who work for Epic and they have a wonderful work environment.

Note that many wealthy people have stated this claim, to only turn around and profit from the Land at some point when speculative investment has hit a certain region.
I’ve always thought, if I ever became fabulously wealthy, that’s what I’d do too. And I’d put every square inch of it in an unbreakable eternal trust so it could never be developed and anyone trying would be prosecuted. I consider that a much better use for an abundant amount of money than living an OTT extravagant lifestyle and contributing less than nothing to society.
Look at all of the upvotes a negative comment gets...in response to a post about positivity!! Gawd, we really are hardwired for misery. SIGH

You are right, Stefania, survival of our planet and all the life it supports, including human life, depends on the reversal of all that destruction humans have done, and too many still continue to do if we don't stop them; why public does not understand it???

I dislike fortnite so much not because of the game itself but because the game was stolen from the original creator, why do you think save the world is never worked on. The OC asked for some help and within a week said company made a battle royal with all his assets, then fired him. I will never support a company who would just blatantly steal from someone like that and then just dump them. Its disgusting.

Fortnite is one of many on line games where sexual predators target children, and nothing is being done about it. So, yes it’s great he planted trees. How about enforcing a safe space for the children who play this game?

Posts like these give me faith in humanity. Don't get me wrong, it's important to be informed about world issues, but it's nice to escape that every once in a while and know how far we've come.
Life is calmer when people take care of their little spheres in the world and stop obsessing about the whole world. People who mire themselves in the world's problems start to see people as the enemy.

This is a great post and many of these are amazing things, the problem is that the more we keep people alive and the longer they live the bigger the population gets which isn't sustainable. So it's a double edged sword. It's a catch-22.

I think a balance is better. Transparency reduces corruption. Confidentiality "divides and conquers" unity in humanity. All CULTures reduce free thinking and truer happiness. Imagine developmentally disabled having equal power and wealth to intellectuals.
When I read these good news headlines, it helps me realize that we are making progress. Yes, there's a lot of bad news in the world, but good news is just as plentiful when we look for it. Good news is healing. I'm sharing this on all my social media pages!

We can have the world be mostly fantastic and turn things around. But we have to withdraw from bank issued money. There's been a ton of great news lately though, communists got BTFO'd in a lot of western countries, the US economy is doing great, brexit is finally going to go through without impedance. Overall SJW's are losing and the people are regaining some of their power.
