We are often bombarded with fear-mongering and shocking headlines that make us feel that the world is falling apart.

However, while it’s important to report on problems and issues, I believe there is so much good in this world that it needs to be found and promoted just as widely.

Because of that, I started The Happy Broadcast. It's an anti-venom to the vitriolic rhetoric that pervades our media. Also, this year, I’ve illustrated even more happy news than in 2018.

We need more positive news to acknowledge that the world is actually getting better little by little.

More info: Instagram

When I'm working on The Happy Broadcast, I try to pick news that has an international appeal and touches themes like animal rights, climate change and science. News that shows how much we’re progressing on many fronts despite being often bombarded with few-mongering headlines.

So a southern White rhino will carry the pregnancy. There is a very specific seven generation plan where they will mix southern and northern and then ultimately land up with basically completely northern White rhino.

Rhinos, and all animal species for that matter, need NOT to be massacred and have their wild habitat destroyed - the need to fertilize wild animals in the captivity is not good news. Let's be realistic, looking at the world through the pink glasses will not make this planet just and prosperous for all its inhabitants.

I don't know how they think that will happen, with only 7 to be fertilized from 2 individuals, alive the species would have to pretty much be cloned, There is not enough genetic diversity to recreate an entire population without repercussions a few generations down. :/

Ha! Sorry, this will possibly save Northern White Rhinos genetics but who will teach these lab borns to be rhinos and where will they be living as rhinos? A species is technically extinct when it's connection to survival in an ecology is lost. Humans haven't proven themselves to be a sufficient substitute for that yet.

Rhinos are mammals, they don't lay eggs!!!! "rhinoceros are mammals, so they give birth to one, sometimes two babies after a gestation period of between 15-18 months. "

Define "save the species"? 7 captive animals are not a species. They are a relic of what used to be a beautiful species that had a place and a role in the ecosystem it inhabited, before humanity showed up and f****d it all up... This is not good news. This is feel good waffle.

Sorry but I can't see how only having two Northern white rhinos left in the whole wide world is something to feel happy about. We have all but obliterated another species. If this is what we have to be happy about then, our world is probably going to end even sooner than we thought!! Being happy about this is madness!

Alternatively titled, "Humanity's last gasp effort to preserve white rhinos after murdering them to extinction". Even if those two survive, how would they continue to breed them with such close relation? This is a travesty that it's come to this, not happy news.

Courtesy of Wikipedia: In August 2019, 10 egg cells (5 from Najin and 5 from Fatu) were harvested to be artificially inseminated with the frozen sperm of a northern white rhino, and in September 2019 scientists announced that they fertilized in-vitro the eggs with frozen sperm taken from dead males; two of the resulting embryoswere viable, and they were stored in liquid nitrogen until they can be placed into a surrogate mother, probably a southern white rhino.

I think there are many reasons why negative news is dominating the media. It's like a sudden disaster a, it's more compelling than, for example, little improvements. Bad things can happen quickly, but good things aren’t built in a day, and as they unfold, they're out of sync with the news cycle.

As humans, we have this thing called “negative bias” that make us respond quicker to bad or dangerous situations. Nowadays, this bias is getting in the way of our happiness and well-being, and even our productivity because most of the narrative surrounding us (print, online or mobile) is that the “world is ending".

I think we should find a balance between negative and positive news. From politics to climate change and economy, negative and bad news surrounds us everywhere we go. A potential solution could be to limit the amount of bad news, basically slow down our personal news cycle, adding some positive news to our “news diet” to make sure that our outlook on the world is more optimistic. Also, it's very important to invest time to deal with misinformation and the reliability of news sources.

Hm, I think Sweden must have forgot to apply then. We dont have stray dogs, at least for decades. Any lost dog gets collected, if no owner is found it gets adopted via Animal Protection. I have seen one or two lost dogs, where we found the owner, but never a genuine stray.

SOOOO not against this! But....shouldn't it be equal pay for equal skill? (meaning, no race, gender, age, or any discrimination at all!) If you have more skill in the task, you get paid more, if you have less you get paid less. Plain and simple (yet I know it is more difficult to prove wrong-doing that way too)

Although the use of solar panels is green, many solar panel manufacturing processes are not. To create a solar panel, caustic materials will emit greenhouse gases. Plus less than 11% of each panel has salvageable metals so they're not very recyclable once they're usable life has expired. Most people aren't aware that the 'green' alternatives often aren't.
