Popsicles Made From 100 Different Polluted Water Sources Grab World’s Attention
1Mviews
These popsicles might look like the sort of thing you’d expect to find being served from a quirky organic artisanal food truck, but one bite could leave you very ill indeed, because they’re actually made from sewage found in the polluted waters of Taiwan.
They were made by three design students for the Polluted Water Popsicles project, which aims to raise awareness about rising water pollution due to rapid economic growth and urbanization. Water was taken from 100 different water sources in Taiwan and turned into frozen toxic popsicles before Hung I-chen, Guo Yi-hui, and Cheng Yu-ti from the National Taiwan University of Arts recreated them using transparent polyester resin. They even made wrappers for them that represented the different regions from which the polluted water samples were taken. While the trash in the water was varied, about 90 percent of it was plastic, and the popsicles contain everything from bottle caps and plastic bags to bottles and chopstick wrappers. It’s a simple yet effective way of getting us to think about water pollution from a totally different perspective. Popsicle anyone?

I would love to see these posted individually with a location and list of contaminants.

I don't see any individual posts of each pop with its pertinent information even on their FB page. Did you see any?

Hi! I am a student from National Taiwan University of Arts and had seen this project during their graduation show. They did print a book about the location and list of contaminants of these popsicle but the book is not for sale. I think that's why you can't find those individual information on their page. But you can message them for further information! p.s. I am glad this gets to shared with more people abroad! Alice
It stated in the list above that they're from the polluted waters of TAIWAN. If you go back and read you will find this information.
Taiwan
Very pretty, but sad to see that water gets that way... People who trash the planet don't realize the after effects of it all.
I agree and people in poor countries have to drink it
People in rich countries do, too. It just usually has invisible pesticides, chemical run off and lead. This is a problem for all of us. Access to clean water is a global crisis that doesn't care about class.
people in Flint. MI haven't had clean water since 2014. wake up.
Hi Lucybaby! First of all I only write this with a good will, and i don't judge you at all... but have you ever bought any product wich has plastic wrapping, or is plastic itself? Because if the answer is yes, then You also ''trash'' the planet, without realizing it.
I think we would all have to say "yes." Just buying groceries means a ridiculous amount of plastic, even with reusable bags!
Hayley Rodgers, there are really few ways to dispose them correctly as there are almost no possibilites which are not polluting. BUT throwing out of the window of a car is one of the worse. Burning it IS NOT BETTER. Air pollution.
All my trash get's burned to produce electricity...
Yes and no. Does she dispose of it properly? Or just toss it out the car window?
Our consumerism trashes planet
These are very powerful images about pollution and so well done!
