Woman Goes To Alaska To Photograph Polar Bears In Snow – But There’s No Snow

Photographer Patty Waymire wanted to capture polar bears in the picturesque snow, so she traveled to Barter Island, Alaska – and shockingly, there was no snow. “I was surprised when I arrived, to find there was no snow nor was the sea ice forming yet,” Waymire told The Huffington Post. “The locals told me that it was an unusually warm winter and that the snow would be late in arriving. It is one of the warmest winters on record.”

She was quick to spot polar bears on patches of sand and dirt, and decided to capture the unusual view on the camera. “The shot struck me immediately as [the bear] seemed so contemplative, sitting there on the shore of one of the Barter Islands,” she said. “The lack of snow and ice was so evident that it told a story without requiring any words.”

One of the pictures she took titled “No Snow, No Ice” received an honorable mention in a National Geographic photo competition. The shot is said to be a good reflection of the dire effects of global warming.

The photographer says she would like Donald Trump to travel to the Arctic too see what’s happening for himself, so he can understand “why this incredibly special place must be protected.”

The problem isn't that some people ignore or deny climate change and, therefore, they had to see to believe and understand; the problem is they simply don't care. This is why, despite what I think of Trump, I truly hope logics and kindness enlightens his mind and heart, for the well-being of our beloved planet.

This is very sad and it is happening in lots of other places as well. However I REALLY don't think Donald Trump will give a s**t at all.

First of all the pictures of Patty Waymire have zero artistic value, and second is that polar bears are thriving in Alaska. Please verify my statement by searching for research by professor Susan Crockford.

With the global warming, White Christmas starts getting a kinda political meaning.... Imagine it as the background music for a campaign video showing no ice for polar bears....

Ok so I loathe destruction of this beautiful planet. BUT as for polar bears. Will they not just adapt? Becoming more of a regular brown bear

This is a b******t article. If she wanted to see polar bears in the snow, she should have gone in November or December, when there was likely to be snow. This kind of c**p just advances the "human caused climate change" agenda propagated by amateur know-nothings.

We found the Trump voter!!! Kidding aside, it's supposed to snow in September. The warmest day of the year is in August and its 40 degrees. Think about the fact that even 5 degrees in warmer temperatures melt ice, how much of the arctic circle would suffer. Seals can't rear their young, and even if they did, bears can't get to them. They will either starve or they will start migrating towards human encampments and attack pets or people. The fact that the climate change is happening isn't debatable, the same way we know earth is round and it spins on its axis. The fact that we have caused this climate change isn't either debatable, the same way we know we caused holes in the ozone layer. The difference is we took steps to fix the ozone issue instead of argue about the cause, because it doesn't seem to pose an immediate danger to us. Once we have to swim to get out the door, some people will change their mind.

we're sorry dear polar teddy's but we want our daily meatball and drive around in tank-like cars but maybe you'll make a comeback when the next self-induced ice age comes and have whatever's left of us as snacks!
