No one is keeping you from curling your hair every day and wearing vintage dresses though. It's acceptable now to wear whatever you like, it asbolutely wasn't back then.

Women are classy now too. I am sure there were the equivalent of what you call TikTok idiots back then too. It's one thing to romanticize history, but you managed to do it with a generalization sweeping two entire generations.

It’s called freedom of choice. You don’t have to like the way other women behave, but the women that came before us fought hard for us to have the freedoms that we have. That includes the freedom to let it all hang out, if a woman chooses to. Don’t be so judgemental.

It's true they are beautiful. Buuuut, when you consider the extreme devices of the time sold to women to achieve this standard (see: 40s glamour bonnet, 30s dimple makers and 'freezing' freckels off) it's hard to not feel bad for these women for how hard it must have been to be socially presentable. I agree more glam but not like this

This is toxic. Im into vintage fashion myself and while i personally think it was way more awesome, things change. Not just women as you mentioned, but also TikTok idiots are just 1 group of thousands. But even aside from that, i feel like people are way too quick to call certain trends trashy. Most fashion movements have a reason. The egirl look right now kinda started in the idea of owning labels like s**t and bimbo. Taking something unfairly derogatory and turning it into a strength. Kinda like how alphabet mafia got adopted by LGBTQ from conservatives. A lot of this is just prejudice based on preconceived notions. You wanna dress classy, no one will stop you, but no need to degrade others based on different tastes. Yes some are stupidly following trends, but by far not all.

Times change. 60 years from now someone will be sighing and saying "Women used to be classy in their yoga pants and crop tops, now look at them". You can, btw, wear what you like if you want to. As can the rest of us. If you want to do pin curls and 40s dresses, off you go.

Oh yes, how I long for the days when I couldn't open a bank account without my husband permission. Here's a thought, stop glorifying some imaginary past time based purely on the aesthetics. Well. Thing is women "evolved" not only with more modern outfits and all that, but also there's -almost- equality between genders. I have to admit, vintage is pretty, but...

What in the F do their looks have to do w anything at all? You have a hanky on your head ffs. You as a woman can't talk about a woman's achievement wo bringing up how they look. You sound like you haven't evolved at all. And here's some news for you teenagers always did stupid things like wag their tongues and act grown even back when woman weren't allowed to have their own bank account wo their husbands or fathers name on it. Up until the 1970s. You want to live in that era you will only be wearing an apron and dresses wo very many choices at all. These women were not even praised or recognized for their bravery. I'm not sure why we can't just let women be women. Let women control their own esthetic and their own bodies without trying to force them into two shoeboxes- either classy or trashy. We as women are the biggest offenders on this. How a woman dresses is not a reflection of her character or her IQ. Women cheated on their husbands, slipped things in their pockets, etc back then, too. Let's support women in making their own decisions.

I personally like the look of the 40s-90s and definitely have a few vintage/retro prices in my closet, but I don’t regret how we evolved.
