A Couple Who Had Just Met Gets Photographed On Their Blind Date, Goes Viral Because Of The Chemistry They Share

Interview With Artist

Everyone who’s had at least one first date (and if not, maybe this post will be the motivation you need) knows that it can be a nerve-wracking experience: choosing the perfect outfit, rehearsing a simple “hi” as if it’s the first time you are going to say it, overthinking all the possible scenarios that might go wrong. And although sometimes they come true, in most cases, after a few awkward moments, you realize it’s not that bad after all. Now, blind dates are a different experience―you either are more nervous because you have no idea what to expect or you go in without any prejudice or thoughts because of the same reason.

However it goes, it usually stays between two people (and a few friends for moral support), but not this time. Indiana photographer Lindsey McCaffry decided to capture a real blind date in a series of photos. And instead of cringe, we actually get full-blown chemistry. Karmon and Daniel, who signed up for an unusual adventure, look like they’ve been dating for years although they had just met!

We asked the photographer how did she come up with the idea for such experiment. “I saw another photographer do one about 2 years ago. I thought it was a cute idea and wrote it down on my wishlist of things to do. When quarantine happened, my schedule freed up to work out all the details and make it happen,” McCaffry told Bored Panda.

Lindsey McCaffry posted an open call for single males and females who would agree to have their blind date photographed from start to finish. Daniel, 27, and Karmon, 32, were the first to participate. They had never met nor seen each other—they didn’t know anything about one another other than that they were going to be photographed posing with a motorcycle and get wet in the creek. A little bit of refreshment was a brilliant idea because the photoshoot heated up really fast.

“We received about 6 male applications and 15 female applications. We chose them based off of a questionnaire they filled out by common interests. We really tried to match for a potential real relationship to come out of it.”

“Holy smokes, they brought the FIREEEEE!!!”

No one knew what to expect from this date, but the couple definitely did not disappoint. The photoshoot captures the whole intimate date from the anxious moment they took their blindfolds off, the first genuine reaction to seeing each other, the instant connection, to passionate hugs and kisses. Would you ever be able to tell these two people had just met? “Holy smokes, they brought the FIREEEEE!!!” said the photographer in her Facebook post.

“We were all nervous before the shoot nobody knew what to expect or how it would actually go. After the shoot we all felt like we had known each other for years. They had fantastic chemistry together.”

“Posing was prompted, emotions captured were real and raw”

It feels like a new dating reality show people are obsessed with!

It's not a blind date, it's a photo shoot. If I came across these photos I would assume it was an engagement shoot.

These photos are suppose to show intimacy but we know that these people don't know each other at all so there is no intimacy. So the whole thing is phony.

What part of the world are they in that this is a post-covid blind date? We are still in masks in the United States. Well, the crazies aren't but that's another story.

They followed the photographer's instructions and looked like they were having fun. This was hours long so there was time for chemistry to grow. They were great models. The bike was gorgeous! I prefer Indian Motorcycles.

Well there! A blind date turned into love at first sight. I didn't believe it until it happened to me!

I'm not criticizing the couple or the photographer - they should do what they like. When you put your pictures out there, you want them to be viewed and create a response in the viewer. My response is "yuck". The level of pretend emotion, by people who aren't actors but are possible future friends or partners, except they're complete strangers, combined with the photographer's obvious thought that this intensely intimate fakery is loving or cute, is somehow off-putting and unpleasant.
