I'm a fulltime outdoor and travel photographer, living together with my wife and kids in a rural area in the Eastern part of The Netherlands, called Twente. Twente is particularly known for its scenic countryside. Because of the bocage-like landscape, there's a good chance to stumble upon a different beautiful vista after every turn or corner. The historical farms appear to fit in the landscape perfectly and always gives me a sense of nostalgia.

I really love to travel abroad and discover new places. However, the charm of my home region is like a magnet and keeps on luring me back.

Mostly unawarely, I'm constantly inspired by a number of factors while taking photos. Childhood memories being one of them; during my photo walks in the surrounding countryside, I'm reminiscing about the Sunday walks from my younger years and it always makes me feel a bit nostalgic. That probably explains a lot about my taste for old buildings, pastoral landscapes, and untouched nature.

My favorite type of photo would contain several different elements all at once: light - subject - composition - moment. This might sound pretty abstract, but it's a pretty rare and therefore totally satisfying occurrence when all of these factors are caught in a frame.

Like most other creative professionals, I do sometimes feel burned out. I learned by experience not to worry about it because I know the motivation and inspiration will come to me again sooner or later. It's all part of the job. Whenever I feel less creative, I try not to force myself to set a super high standard, but rather accept the fact that it simply isn't possible to keep exceeding your expectations all the time.

I love this novemberesque type of weather! Your picture radiates the soft and silent beauty of a late autumn day. Even the bicycle seems to be dreaming... ^_^

I don't think I've ever had any negative comments about my photography. That being said, I feel confident enough not to worry about it whenever I will get negative feedback. At least, on social media. If the critique came from a paying customer, I would take it very seriously, regardless of whether I think he's right or not.

Yes, those are beech trees. In The Netherlands you'll find them alongside lanes in forests that used to belong to estates.

Gotta be a story behind this. The hole in the roof is to neat and the tree appears older than the shed.

As a photographer who mostly shoots landscapes, it goes without saying that being outdoors is the part I like the most about my work. Unfortunately, this is just a small part of the job. I'm spending most of my time staring at my computer screen, sending emails, editing photos and doing my administration.

Sheeps Gathering Around An Old Oak

Sheeps Gathering Around An Old Oak

I started doing 'serious' photography after spending a magical morning in the local woodlands. On the weekends, I never ever even considered getting out of bed early. I was working as a cook in a restaurant and worked till late on a daily basis. Until a remarkable Sunday morning in October when I surprisingly woke up before my alarm clock. I spontaneously decided to take our dog for an early morning walk to the local forest, not too far from our home.

When we arrived in the forest, I was overwhelmed by the stillness and mystical atmosphere. The grass and leaves were decorated with a fresh layer of ice crystals. In some parts of the forest, a dense layer of fog was covering the soil. Sunbeams fought their way through the autumn-colored foliage. I instantly decided to grab my iPhone and take some photos. I kept the photos on my phone and looked at them many times to relive that wonderful morning in the woods. My new hobby was born.
